• Welcome to the Community Forums at HiveWire 3D! Please note that the user name you choose for our forum will be displayed to the public. Our store was closed as January 4, 2021. You can find HiveWire 3D and Lisa's Botanicals products, as well as many of our Contributing Artists, at Renderosity. This thread lists where many are now selling their products. Renderosity is generously putting products which were purchased at HiveWire 3D and are now sold at their store into customer accounts by gifting them. This is not an overnight process so please be patient, if you have already emailed them about this. That they did. Sadly, they seem to have disappeared. After so many of my DAZ executables were infected with a virus a few months ago, I've been downloading the zip files from my account to replace those old DAZ executables. But all those freebies I'm probably going to lose.

But don't the freebies get added to your account? I see them listed in mine, at my download section.

I am not normally a steampunk fan but I did like this time machine.

SP Time machine HW.jpg

Steampunk Time Machine by Daz Originals ForbiddenWhispers David Brinnen.

As is often the case I have played with the textures a little and here, also the effects. Texture wise it was just a change to the glass to give a better look and real reflections, the effects are included but they are tweaked for Superfly.

The platform and surroundings are part of the Andromeda Space Station by winnston1984. I purchased it in 2012 but despite being rendered in Superfly the textures are untouched.

There was a time when DAZ was giving freebies away every week. ^^
Yep. I guess I picked up DS at the right time. I haven't gone on the DLM lately. Maybe when I get a decent wifi signal I will check it out again; see if I have anything new there...

There was at one time an archive of free items at Daz that did not get added to your account - it had a lot of little things, and it is now long gone. It had some of Questors firearms, some cemetery props as I recall, a few fantasy structures, some magician props, a few morph and texture packs for V3/M3/Freak3, Jet Skis, Scuba Gear for V2/M2, and other stuff. It disappeared when they killed artzone and the old forums - and despite numerous promises to keep much of the material live in archives, that never happened.

Freebies were added to our accounts only if they were "purchased" through the store. I think those products were free only for the week and perhaps only for the PC subscribers.

But in 2006 when I stumbled across DAZ 3D, there was a weekly model archive with products free to anyone. Like KageRyu said, those files are no longer available. I have 63 products in my DAZ Weekly Model Archive folder from 2006, some of which are the Eagle 2 Nest, Mansion Stairs, Elvish Sanctuary, Nutcracker, Dragons Lair, Lost Temple Iris, DM Garden Corner, Steammill, Bridge of Pontus, Garden Pavillion, and Giant Chess set.

After my computer was rebuilt a couple months ago, I have missing obj and texture files in my runtimes. It's easy enough to copy the missing files from the zips, so I'm in the process of replacing all the old executables with zips from my account (I've made it to December 2010). Along the way, I've encountered a number of purchased products where the original files have been archived. Most were replaced with new product files. But one product was not.

Yeah, that's how it's been for quite a while. There's a free item with purchase every week. Sometimes quite nice ones, too. If you're a PC+ member it's free, even without a purchase, and there's an additional free item each month specifically for PC+ members. These are mostly sets and props, and typically come across as generic, but useful. Particularly if you're new at this.

All of these are limited time freebies which go into the DAZ O collection after they time out as freebies, and since they go through the store purchase they go into your purchase records. But, yeah I remember that old freebie collection you're talking about. 11 pages of startlingly random stuff, most of it dating from gen3 if not gen2, but some very useful bits and pieces throughout the jumble. That one disappeared at least two site rebuilds ago.

I never had PC membership, but I got the freebies nonetheless. I think the membership only came much later, and it has never convinced me to join.

The value is directly related to how often you are likely to buy something from the DAZ store in the first place. If you only go there when you are desperate to find a specific item and there's a chance that someone in the forum can point you at one, or if you only check there occasionally because you really like a specific artist's work, then no, you're not likely to get much value from it. But if it's one of your main markets, then it will more than pay for itself.

I joined Daz in the Fall of 2004, and became a PC member the beginning of 2005. IIRC, they changed it to PC+ shortly before I decided not to renew my PC membership.

I used to like the weekly freebies, because they were usually by a PA whose work I liked, so I always found it beneficial. Well, until everything went DS only with Genesis 2 and later.

The nightly patrols continued with little result. Angie's partner was reinstated and returned to Bayou. After a bit of stealth legilimency, Snape concludes that the monster is in fact a Dementor.

Angie and Kat got into a heated argument over whether the party should all stay together for protection, or if it should split up in hopes of finding the problem sooner.

I just installed a new Graphics card with 8 bit ASCII over-acceleration. I wanted to test it out with Poser. Check out this awesome render of Dawn in glorious 2 color ASCII.

I'll admit, I may have cheated and used stock resources. I was feeling snarky and nostalgic - and recentlt packing away old computer components and software from the 80's got me remembering when ASCII art in online games was a big deal.
