Todays Weather where you live?

Been snowing here since before I woke up, and it's set to continue for a few more hours yet (it's near noon now). We're British, so the weather can do no good. It's the most snow we've seen in years - I haven't been able to take the boy for a sleigh ride since he was a little boy being taken to school on a sleigh, much to the envy of his friends. Now - yeah, I could pull a sleigh again... but he's too heavy for me to pull and stay upright I reckon!

No major calamities around here - you can't go up certain roads or down others (safely) but if taken carefully hopefully the most we'll get out of the snow and the 80MPH gusts will be a good old moan. It's nothing like The great Storm of '87 after all!

Cheers,

Cliff
My concern is I have to go out in it as my wife has a lead part in a local amature dramatics pantomime. I have a horrible feeling that we are going to struggle to get there only to find large parts of the cast can't make it and the whole thing is cancelled. Snow is a bother but other drivers is my main worry.

I have a horrible feeling that we are going to struggle to get there only to find large parts of the cast can't make it and the whole thing is cancelled. I'm staying indoors this afternoon (had some work to do in the back garden this morning but wrapped up well enough) but my wife was off to work this morning before I even got up... she managed to get most of the way to work then had to walk up an in-driveable hill. Lots of other staff have apparently been phoning in to say they can't make it, which means those that DID turn up are having to work extra hard. Afternoon staff have started calling in as "unable to attend" too. I think my wife is going to need a nice hot bath when she gets home!

Almost always it's other drivers that are the problem. Weather CAN be deadly just by itself, but add some humans into the mix and lethality becomes that much more likely.

Stay safe on the roads folks. Or keep death off the roads entirely - drive on the paths.

Cheers,

Cliff

Not good, not good at all. We were lucky here as most of the snow from yesterday has just about melted, as it's bright and sunny out there, and the temps are supposed to hit 40F today, so not too lasting a problem.

Of course, there will be some puddles to get past when crossing the streets, but it could've been far worse.

My eyes are SO DRY they hurt and watered, nearly all day...so blurry I couldn't see much "here".....I'm working on getting a total of 12 glasses of water in me for 'today'.... the humidity dropped lower than I've EVER seen it here... 7%!!!* Then it went back up a bit (guess the wind came 'on shore' for a short time) but now ACK! It's now only 15% humidity again...and 66 degrees right now at 10 pm! sheesh! :( winds are changing direction repeatedly and looks like this will continue into Tuesday.... I have been nearly ill with all the fears... Just HOPE my home delivery groceries CAN make it to me tomorrow!! (store that delivers is in the fire zone voluntary evacuation areas!).... but no call from them today, so hoping! The forecast shows STILL really variable temps and wind directions through Tuesday...it's REALLY BIZZARE!!

PS *keeping in mind I live about 15 minutes from the ocean shore!!

WOW, 12 glasses of water? I thought I was bad with 7-8 glasses of fluids a day. Unfortunately, my poor bladder couldn't handle more than I give it as it is, so can't imagine my ever drinking 12 glasses of fluids a day.

My problem is usually during the heat of the summer when the humidity here gets up to 90% or higher. If I have to be out of the house at all in that weather, I have to pump myself with more fluids when I get home, because I tend to perspire a lot, and I'm always afraid of becoming dehydrated. Not so much in the cooler months.

Ya, it's WORK to get in that much water (eyes are perfect if I get 13 glasses in)...especially with my bad gut, BUT it's worth the work as it let's me do ART/computer stuff! (My meds dry my eyes out is the reason.) Just never had the weather do this, and wasn't prepared for how it would affect me, even in my sealed up home... normally it's so humid we have a mildew problem....this is just WRONG weather for near the beach!!! (feels like Twilight Zone or something!)

Extraordinary
We were able to slide most of the way to school on the icy footpaths this morning! It was 0C and is only 2C this afternoon.

It's 80 degrees and 9% humidity today~?!?~ YIKES! Even with all the water I drink, I'm having awful dry eyes in reaction. It's horrible! But the fire is 80% contained...there is, toward the north, those odd wind swirled "clouds" of smoke up there... almost like when a test rocket goes off and then fails...the 'trails' are weird looking. But otherwise blue skies and NO ASH here.... Other than waiting for the normal on-shore winds and increased humidity, I think the worst is past.

and so far, NO calls from Von's grocery, so I have to assume my delivery will be here at any time now... I ordered extra cases of water!!

:yeahthat: I can't believe such low humidity. I think the lowest I've ever seen was in the low to mid 40s when I used to visit my family in Tucson, Arizona, but that's to be expected in the desert. I jump for joy when we have such low humidity here on the East Coast.

Stay safe Lyne! I lived in Nevada for years and the smoke from the California fires used to waft our way a lot in the summer. I know exactly what you mean by the false dusk. Ash is actually good for the plants and such. We used to get that falling on us too.

Snow again here tomorrow. At least it's waiting till my work from home day. With three days between snowfall and Monday, hopefully, the roads and sidewalks will be clear again.
