I really like the Dude 2 and SuzyQ 2, but the Poser rigging was a deal-breaker.

I'm not quite sure I understand this statement. Aren't the Dude 2 and SuzyQ both original figures for Poser? Also I was wondering if RNDA is having a going out of business sale? Thanks!

I'm a Studio user. Poser weight mapped rigging is a no-go.

RDNA has been acquired by DAZ. A lot of the stuff in their store is migrating, but quite a bit won't.

Hmm, Does DS do weight mapping in a different way? Oh well, I can only imagine the fun you're having with Genesis 3. I have to wait until I get my hands on Poser 11 before I can use the latest tech. I use both. Poser more than DAZ (these days) but DS especially when I'm updating my old Millennium figures into Genesis 1 so I can get better expressions. I'm old Aiko 3 fan! I'll never give her up! I love the manga feel too much! No Software bashing here!

Oh, it's worse than that. The original split came with DS4. I don't remember which version Poser same out around the same time, but I think it may have been 8 or 9. At that point, both companies adopted weight mapped figures, but they adopted incompatible systems of weight mapping. A few months later DAZ came out with the DSON work-around so Genesis 1 (& later, 2) could be used in Poser. I understand that it was hit-or-miss, but it was better than nothing.

Then with Genesis 3 DAZ abandoned their own Triax rigging system and adopted dual quarternion (sp?) rigging, which is used in other parts of the industry and is not proprietary. DSON doesn't work with it. Someone else has a script which converts Genesis 3 back to Triax so it can be used in Poser, but since the dual quarternion system doesn't belong to DAZ there is nothing to stop Smith-Micro from using it too. But they haven't shown any signs of choosing to.

At this point we don't have to use DSON to import characters using the triax system from DAZ into Poser. I've have great success doing it the long way. However, that was done with the help of the DAZ faithful who didn't mind helping a newbie with his project. That said, it would be great if there were more cooperation and thoughtfulness regarding this level of the user base at the corporate level. I want a casino. DAZ has a great one on sale right now but it's only in DUF format. Before they provided both and I would think enjoyed the profits of both user bases. Oh well, you might as well ask Mercedes Benz not to enforce their patents or DC and Marvel Comics to team up in a crossover. (Spoiler Alert. Both have already come true.) I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime. And instead of that Casino, I think DAWN SE is still on sale for one more day. I love Aiko, Mike and Vicky but I don't want to be a cat at a skunk party!

Yeah, over the past few years a lot of vendors on DAZ have gone to offering only DAZ format models. Many of them evidently have decided that if they are going to do things twice over it will be 3DL and Iray, rather than Studio and Poser.

With the RDNA acquisition, we're seeing a lot more for Poser in the store, but I don't know that new releases are going to be cross-platform, and wouldn't count on it.

Very cute! I've always loved Little Mummy and you've done a great job with the animation :)

Just wanted to say it is possible to convert from Poser to DS but it is a lot of work and you need to understand weightmapping to do it.

I also love the figures Jodel but unless my understanding of Poser improves dramatically most of my rendering is done in DS. I have managed to work out some Poser stuff when creating morphs and stuff though...
