You are both very perceptive. He's intimidated by the choice of style of the motorcycle, or he's afraid the bones might be real. He is trying to hide his worried look with a half hearted smile. Thank you both for noticing.

I'm not sure I'd feel differently either. Maybe when I was younger. She definitely is adventurous though choosing to ride a motorcycle that uncomfortable.

I went to a dentist who was working on heels as high as that, and I asked if it doesn't hurt her to stand the whole day on them. She just told me to shut up! LOL
