Well, it's good to hear that you're feeling better, Seliah. And you're probably getting some much needed rest.

It's not such a stretch to consider yourself a graphic artist, and with the ability to do renders which are properly lighted, well, why not...sounds good to me :)

Hey Sanbie...hey, if you like screenshots, pick up the PDF tutorial that came from the discussion on the Cloth Room (nearer to top of page, or in the tutorials section of ShareCG). PDG knows his stuff, that's for sure. I never could have figured out how to work through the complications with that particular robe without his input :)

Miss B, the way we found out about my allergy was being given Gantricine for a UTI when I was 13. When I got home from school the next day I told my mother my legs looked like I had chicken pox and showed her. She was a nursing student then and immediately realized I was having an allergic reaction and took me straight back to the Doctor.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm much better when I don't have benadryl keeping me doped up into a coma-like state. LOL :)

Sky - I wasn't really sure how to feel about the label when he first started using it. Graphic Design to me, was like the artists who design advertising billboards/videos, magazines and stuff like that... which I don't do. But in the last few months, it does seem to fit more and more, I think.

This particular project isn't too hard. They took a whole bunch of photos of the 100th anniversary celebration, and they did some events like history of their particular church congregation, how it got started, the families that founded it and all of that. It was founded in 1914, and though it's a very small and aging congregation at this point, it's still going pretty well. They gathered up a whole collection of old photos from various families in the congregation, so we have photos covering most of the decades all the way back to the 20's, with the only blank spot really being the 80's.

Anyway, they wanted to put together like a little program booklet that has all the photos and some bits of text in it and such. So I was asked if I'd be willing to make a layout for all of that, as the woman who was originally working on it commutes from Boston, and just doesn't have much time to devote to it - it's been a WIP for her for over a year now.

I have to admit that it's a little bit daunting in regards to the fact that the layout I come up with has to go past the priest for approval, and then the parish's bishop as well, because the booklet is going to eventually be entered into the diocese's records or something like that. I'm not clear on all the hierarchal stuff, but what I put together with this is going to end up in some higher ranking clergymen's hands, and has to get their approval, so that is... a little bit intimidating. I'm not overly worried, if they want changes made, they can just give me a list of what they want changed. But it's the first time I've been in this kind of a position, so this is really breaking new ground for me. And the fact that I'm not Orthodox myself means there could be a little bit of a hiccup here or there as the thing goes up the channels, but I've been told by both the bishop and the local priest that any hiccups of those nature won't be my problem to deal with. LOL

Terre, that's pretty much what happened with this. I was given a pretty high powered and very much a broad-spectrum antibiotic (and good for drug-resistent bacteria, and since Bear has been doing his work in a hospital location, he's exposed to those a lot - his company specializes in medical facility rehab/reconstruction), and broke out in a hive-like rash pretty much everywhere.

Because it was administered IV, I had a systemic reaction pretty quickly. Being medical myself, I knew what the heck was going on and pretty much marched myself right into the hallway and over to the RN station... thankfully I didn't have any swelling in my throat, but if I hadn't noticed it when I did, that probably would have been next - I had some very pronounced angioedema (the "hive-like rash" that I mentioned above - it basically feels like hives, but presents just under the skin, rather than on the skin's surface) which while is not specific ONLY to anaphylaxis, it is primarily observed in those cases. And there was some very noticeable swelling around the IV site as well. An Epi injection quickly followed, of course, with benadryl for a couple of days to calm the rest of the reaction down, and they switched me off to a different drug.

Been an interesting couple of days, I'll say that much! LOL

YIKES! I don't recall the med that I had the reaction to, but I know it started with a B.

I'm not familiar with Gantricine, because the only time I had a UTI, a few years ago, my doctor gave me Cipro.

Seliah...yes, it's different doing creative work that is reviewed by others for approval. I worked on ministry projects for many years, doing various illustrations...and yes, you can be a little torn between how you'd prefer doing something, but yielding to how others want it. The same was true with music ministry. And that's really what being a graphic or advertising artist is, being able to hit the sweet spot with the client without sacrificing artistic quality. You'll do fine, and it's a honor that you asked you :)

Sounds like you've really been through an ordeal. Hope the worst is over, and you'll be feeling back to normal soon. As hard as you've been working lately, the extra rest won't hurt, for sure. Hang in there :)

I discovered that the olive tree in the recent project that had been on clearance on Rendo is no longer available, so I searched for a substitute. I found a free download where a guy had created nine different olive trees...very realistic...in .max and .obj formats. It's a hefty size download, something like 500 mg, but half of it is the .max files. There are textures in the .max set, and the .obj were not textured, so I used the moss from the .max set to texture the .obj trees. These are the first three trees...the other six are varying shapes, sizes and heights. If interested, the download link is here:

Cipro is what they have to give me because of my sulfa allergy. That makes it sound like you are also sulfa allergic.

Don't knock yourself sanbie. You're no dumb bunny. You learned this stuff pretty well over on PFD. I just don't post much any more. My health is getting worse instead of better over time.

Yeah, I'd say Sanbie's contributions to 3D have been significant, so no reason to feel bad about having problems in the Poser Cloth Room. Most people never go there at all. With all the settings, the possible combinations are numerous, so who could guess at it without lots of time on their hands...haha.

Sorry that you feel your health is declining PDG. I noticed you posted earlier that some days require one cane, some days two. Sometimes injuries can leave one with an arthritic ache, especially in cold weather...they become what I call "weather forecasters"...my legs were telling me all day yesterday that the weather was changing on the east coast, and sure enough, it did. I was applying ointment and fighting the disappointment, since I thought spring was finally here, and assumed some of the aches would fade. Hope you're feeling better soon, and please do stop in and visit with us :)

DUSK BIBLICAL ROBE thread to watch :) Great timing.

Good afternoon everyone :) Slept in late because I was up late working on an experimental project that involved running sims on two dynamic robes for two different characters in the scene....and after a few hiccups due to forgetting to notice what frame I was working in , the final outcome was a success. Now I've finally got my sights on bigger ideas :)

Seliah, I saw your helpful response to the question about making Poser props DS native, and I had wondered the same thing....I think your response was worth posting here:

Yes, DS can use Poser props! We can't use Poser matierals/shaders, but we can definitely use the props and just apply our own materials to them. I do it all the time. :)

For making props DS-native, they have to be saved to the library as Figure/Prop assets... and then to distribute them, you'll have to collect the files from the content library as well as the data folder. The /data/ folder in DS is kind of like Poser's geometry and morphs folders combined... it holds morph data, uvs, and geometry files.

I didn't want to derail somebody else's thread with another question, but I was wondering, if a Poser scene file is imported, materials and all, is DS more able to accept Poser materials, or is it just a no can do situation? It's been a long time since I created any props for Poser, but just in case, would be good to know.

Poser materials do not translate to Studio materials, and Studio materials do not translate to Poser materials. They are as different as pineapples and oranges.

Loading a Poser scene file in DS will get you the contained objects, their positions, and poses. Things with basic image maps will load with the maps in place, but none of Poser's shader nodes etc will be retained.

Morning, Sky. :)

Hey Seliah...okay, that answered my question.

By the way, I invited eclark to browse through and find the information that you've shared with us...near as I can figure, it started after page 33 of this thread, because I was still working on Poser only projects before then. That's along about the time I started asking you a ga-zillion questions so I could get started...so hope eclark will join us :)
