You can find HiveWire 3D and Lisa's Botanicals products, as well as many of our Contributing Artists, at Renderosity. This thread lists where many are now selling their products. Renderosity is generously putting products which were purchased at HiveWire 3D and are now sold at their store into customer accounts by gifting them. I am SO glad you're back!

Yes I don't like subscriptions (or cloud versions) for any software. I've upgraded from each version of FF at the last minute, because I usually got the best price at that point, but I FINALLY decided to go the same route as Satira, and this time I upgraded to the Lifetime License. I wasn't sure I wanted to do that, but if I upgrade for each of the next three years, even at the nicely reduced rate, it's going to come out to the same thing, so I bit the bullet.

I figured, since I've been saving myself a lot of money I used to spend at DAZ the past 1 1/2 years, I'm not really out that much. I'm just spending it elsewhere. ;)

Yup, my 11 1/2 year long PC membership is coming to an end next month. Then it will only be when there's a really good sale like the annual PA sale, if they still have it this year. I won't have to worry about the PC annual sale, as I won't be a member any more. ;)

I can honestly say that beyond buying Poser 8, then 9 and now 10, I haven't spent any money buying anything for Poser. I had DS awhile back, but the UI is so different than Poser that I soon lost interest in it. If it wasn't free, I never would have installed it. I am not a cheapskate, but I do keep promises. And I promised my wife no more spending money on this hobby. She got really upset with me getting Poser 10. I think she is still a little ticked about it. I haven't mentioned trying to sell my creations yet because when I test the waters, they are still cold...

Rokket,

Part of the problem with "no more spending at all" on the hobby, is that, well... it's a hobby that requires overhead. Even for vendors. You have to have the clothing item to be able to make textures for it. You have to have the figure to be able to model clothes for it. Things like this.

I understand what you're saying. As far as testing the waters, maybe start with things that you currently own, and just go from there. Personally, I think you have a lot of talent for modeling; what I've seen of your work in this thread is really nice.

I also think some vendors get into selling, just to kind of let the hobby pay for itself, too. I know a couple of vendors in different places that have mentioned something like that. But it takes time to get established.

All I can say is, do what you can - I've known other folks who had to function on a $0 budget for the hobby, for all sorts of different reasons. I remember when I had to function on that same budget myself. Nowadays, we can set aside a small budget each month for this, but if we have a tight month, it's one of the first things I cut spending off from, definitely.

You can still purchase Filter Forge instead of paying a subscription. If I remember, there were four ways in which you could purchase the Filter Forge license, and then the subscription option.

So, at this point, no one is being forced to go the subscription route from what I saw. (Of course, it LOOKS like the cheapest route is the subscription, but we all know it's not)

True, as I think they have the Standard version, the Pro version, an uPgrade from a previous option, and the subscription option, so there's more than one way to buy it.

I just noticed that this morning. I will let the trial run out and then talk to the wife about it. I already talked to her about buying Dawn and Dusk's morph starter packs. I will be able to get those after the first of March!

They were too short compared to the reference, so I am tweaking that. The maps are perfect now, no stretching, no seams where there shouldn't be. The texture map looks good, I am just dialing it in. They should be done today, and I'll put the whole dynamic outfit in the resources here and on ShareCG.

Yuck!

I am going to remodel. I was adding the laces in the back, but then I discovered that I got some of it wrong. So... back to the drawing board. The nice thing about it is that I learned from my mistakes. This model will go much quicker, and look much better when it's done.

What's the best way to post pics of an Asian Female WIP where nudity is involved? I found a Poser pz3 file that I forgot I was working on. It's more than a year old! I brought it into Poser and played with it a little bit. I will post a render of her face in here in awhile. Seeing how she turned out gives me more incentive to learn Blender, as I am not sure I will be able to pull of what I need to do to make her properly in Wings 3D. Oh, the topology on her is all wrong. I sub divided her quite a bit so I could sculpt her in Sculptris.

Uhm. If you're just wanting to show her face, then have only her head/neck, or maybe head, down to the tops of the shoulders visible in the picture.

Otherwise, you need to put a little something cloth-wise over the bits and pieces for the forums here...

Kind of what I thought. I'll give it some thought. The face pic isn't showing anything but her head and the very tops of her shoulders. She is in a T pose...

Yep, that sounds like it's fine. Basically with the nudity rules, they don't want to see exposed breast/nipple on the females, and they don't want to see exposed groin/genital/buttocks on either gender. Just cover those areas, even if it's just with a bra and daisy dukes or bikini bottom/top, and you'd be safe within the TOS.
