I wonder if it's because she lives out on the water, rather than on dry land. I suspect the sun reflecting off the water may be really good for her plants.

I think the secret is coffee grounds...that and keeping the plants out of the wind and keeping the soil moist...plants hate wind and drying out. Buying more lettuces today!

Good morning. :)

Putting in 9-12 hour days at work for the time being. Eventually we'll have a couple of new assistant managers hired and trained and other kinks from the transition worked out so I can get back to a more reasonable schedule. Overall I'm quite happy with the new management. Just tired from the long hours on my feet.

Glad you like your new management. Those are LONG hours ... even longer on your feet. I sure couldn't do it.

Hope things get back to normal for you soon.

They will eventually. Thanks. :)

I just got a call which is probably a scam my husband came across recently. Callers are trying to get you to say "yes" so they can record that word and use it to falsely charge things to your account. He said to just hang up without saying anything. In this case it was a man saying "Hi, I'm Josh from the customer service department. Can you hear me OK?"

Oh yeah. I have gotten a lot of those calls. Never from the same number. Lots of complaints about them.

It doesn't appear to be a live person ... or if it is, they are very good at ignoring everything you say. Until I realized the caller wasn't going to respond, I asked who were they with, how did they get this number, remove me from your call list (because of course, the FCC asks whether you told them not to call you again), etc. But, they just launched into the routine regardless of your response to "can you hear me." Which leads me to believe it's not a live person.

I've filed a number of complaints through the FCC ... and will continue to do so with scammers who call my cell phone.

I can't mention the response I usually use for calls like that on a public forum, but they never call back a second time, that's for sure.

Poor caller is just trying to make a living :whistling: What's a person to do with no qualifications for any other job or if they are unable to work outside the home. Which is not the case with Josh. He's just a scammer.

Of course, these are robocalls. Further digging into "can you hear me" confirmed that.

Mind you, the best way to deal with unsolicited phone calls ... whether robocall or a live person, is not to answer the call at all. Just picking up the call is enough to confirm they reached a live number which can then be sold. I don't pick up most calls from a number I don't recognize. If it's legitimate, the caller will leave a message. But, it's a slow relearning process since being polite and answering the phone is SOOO engrained.

While listing my numbers on the Do Not Call list has reduced the number of unsolicited calls I get ... it doesn't stop them all. And these guys are just spoofing the numbers anyway, so not really sure reporting the numbers to the FCC really does any good. Other than to allow them to document how rampant these robocalls are.

Very true Satira. I don't usually answer the phone as well, though one of the scammers actually left an "urgent" message, and since I was pretty sure it was a scam, and wanted them to know I knew it was a scam. I waited for them to call back, and when I acted as if I didn't know what they were talking about, the gal on the phone sounded indignant when she she asked, "You really don't know what I'm talking about?", and I used my "not for public forums" response, and she was all of a sudden gone, and hasn't called back since.

That's a LOT of hours, Terre, you take of you!

I too have a not for polite society response to phone scammers. I also have a response to phone sellers "are you trying to sell me something? Well you can't, goodbye"

Mythocentric

Extraordinary
We have a range of responses for the less desirable callers. From me they usually recieve an invite to 'go forth and multiply' (in a purely biblical sense of course! :whistling:), if it's Emma, they find themselves talking to a somewhat tipsy and Irish Sister Conception of the Sisters of Mercy who has a urgent desire to know if they have 'taken God into their lives'?. Persistant offenders are redirected to a recording of Lucy in 'perfect little madam' mode saying, "I don't know you an' my mommy says I mustn't talk to bad people. Go 'way".

I got an offer in the mail for a pre-approved loan of $709.10. They even sent me a check for that amount and all I had to do was sign and deposit it. The yearly interest rate is only 73.09% and I can opt out of other pre-screened offers like this if I call some 800 number. This loan is fantastic. I get 709 bucks and have to pay back 1020 bucks by next year... Is this even legal? I want to report them and sic some regulatory agency on them but am unsure how to do it.

Sooo ... Tsuki loves to ran back and forth along the top of the kitchen cabinets ... though, it's more like bounding than running. Seriously, she sounds like an elephant up there. The elizabethan collar doesn't slow her down in the least. Even though she wants me to understand just how thoroughly offended she is at having to wear the petal collar (which is far nicer than the typical elizabethan collar.)

Here she is in all her glory.

Anyway ... yesterday evening, she was once again bounding back and forth along the top of the cabinet when the thundering noise changed to more of a scrabbling noise. So ... I leaned back in my computer chair and looked into the kitchen. She'd slipped off the top and was hanging on by her front paws and scrabbling for all she was worth with her back legs. Not entirely sure how she did it with the smooth surface of the cabinet doors, but she managed to get back on top the cabinet. Then she promptly sprawled out along the top as if nothing untoward had happened. After a minute or so, she looked up and at me as if to say ...

I meant to do that.

You can report fraud that used the U.S. Mail to the US Postal Inspection Service .

usa.gov is a good place to start for info on fraud and how to go about reporting fraud.

whats wrong with Tsuki? My dog hates the E-collars, I've never had to use one on my kitty. (I know heaps of people put baby shirts on their cats that don't like the collars, don't know if my kitty would like that either :p)
