I bought the game years ago for an earlier computer, but never got to play it. I also wanted to get into SkyRim from The Elder Scrolls, but role-playing games really isn't my thing. I just thought the graphics would be great.

The graphics in Skyrim are pretty good. Everytime Shannon gets a new game he lugs his computer over here and takes me for a tour. Skyrim was annoying cos he had to keep stopping and fighting dragons and things before we could move on. I am so not a role playing peep.

Wait! Are those dragons at the top left? I see the knight but I can't see anything other those those maybe dragons.

I never got into WoW. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Guess I played EverQuest far too many years when it was hard to level and quest and all that. I mean seriously ... you ran out of mana if you were a caster or healer and then had to sit and med to get it back. Unfortunately, you sat and instantly became a magnet for all creatures in the zone (especially, griffons West Karana). I died SO many times to those ninja assassins of the sky!

Nowadays, everything is so easy. No more naked corpse runs to retrieve your armor and weapons after you've been killed. I so completely got lost in Greater Faedark running from a pair of orcs when I was like ... level 1 and never ever did find that corpse. Shame too, because she had looted a rare piece of jewelry before being attacked by a (then to her) high level orc.

Something's wrong when a beastie is tethered rather than chasing you all the way back into town (or the next zone). Oh the trains we died to when someone ran into town or the zone followed by a dozen or more mobs. One of my (many) major irks is that there is so little skill involved in pulling. Either mobs are spaced so anyone can pull a single mob or else it's impossible to cut one out of a bunch because they are intended to be fought as a set.

However, I do admit I don't pine for the days when you lost a LOT of experience every time you died. One brutal day, I gained and lost the same level a dozen times. I swore I'd never willingly go back to that zone EVER again. I did eventually, but with a partner who was skilled at pulling single mobs. It actually became one of my favorite zones to solo in or to level my alts. Skill mattered a lot in those days.

That is a beautiful wallpaper. One of the cool things with LoTRO is that there are areas that are so beautiful it takes your breath away.

Oh I forgot those 2. They're too far away to tell for sure, but from a distance they look like they could be dragons. :)

What I was talking about are creatures that are climbing the rocky terrain, both up and down. ;)

I can't find them on this laptop so I've downloaded it and will try on mine. Because, NO, my computer WILL NOT connect to the new modem, no how, no way  So back and forth I go with a flash drive

congrats on getting the new gennie Lorraine! It's freezing cold here today...so cold they called extreme weather at recess and didn't let the littlies out at recess but did at lunchtime when I had yard duty...brrr it was so cold!

I love Elderscroll games...I've been playing them since Morrowind. I tend to get distracted with just wandering around and looking at the scenery in the last two as it has gotten seriously good. I just switch on god mode through the console using tgm when I want to do that though. From memory there is a code that you can use to turn the monsters off. It's for testing scenery and stuff...I tend to get distracted and start modding when I play though. My current set up in skyrim has some weird colours on things where I've been playing with textures for a mod though. I originally got turned on to using DS through friends at CI's Modding Forum she used to do the most amazing mods for Morrowind. To be honest I think the game play in Morrowind was better than the more recent games but the scenery wasn't as good unless you played it modded.

Oh, that's just AWFUL, Pen, you poor thing and all your wee cold chickies! Erin is basking in sunshine, SURFING!, and posting pics to her pals in Melbs...I'd unfriend her if I was them ;)

I've bookmarked your post for when Shannon gets here, I'd love to see Skyrim without all the ironmongery and fighting :)

Really?! She was surfing in brill weather today, her and her pal. She's moving into her new place tomorrow so I hope it's nice for her. It's nippy here, wind's in the south.

And bookmarked that too :)

Yuck! Cold AND wet :( It is supposed to start raining here tonight but thus far no sign of it.

I haven't seen Erin look so happy for such a long time. I think Melbs had just become too much after her and Heyds split up. As she said, everything turned to s@#t when they moved there. She loved the city but it was full of sad memories. She's going to Skype me Sunday, so looking forward to it...haven't spoken to her for ages, it's all been txts and messages. I didn't put any pressure on her, just asked if she'd like to chat and got a very enthusiastic response :happyflip:

Yep...it was miserable weather! The console is really useful if you want to check stuff out when you're creating mods.

Soo... we've had high 90's lately, and then today it dipped down to the low 80's for the first time in about a week. And a good thing it did, too...

People wonder why professional carpenters are so strong... picture this, if you will...

500lb door, filled with 1,000 lbs worth of lead core in the form of lead bricks.
2 side panels on the door, each weighing another 250 lbs.
The hinges on these doors, are six inch wide, 3 inch thick steel plate, with bolts that are just as heavy duty to secure them.

This is for a room that's used in treating cancer patients; the equipment they use in this room fires off high levels of tightly aimed radiation. The walls themselves have three layers of the same lead bricks to protect everything outside the room from this radiation when the machines are in use.

It only took three carpenters - with NO mechanical equipment - to remove all of the core bricks from inside of the door, remove the two side panels from the door, and then remove the remaining 500 lb door itself. No machinery.

This is what my Bear was doing today at work. This is why you don't mess with a working carpenter!
