As my friend said, Terre, smacked way too much of Big Brother and 1984. Reaching into someone's private property and messing with its settings is trespassing as far as I'm concerned. So very wrong in so many ways.

I agree. The choice should be up to the end user whether to upgrade to Win10, or not. It's bad enough when you keep getting a nag screen, but to go ahead and bypass a user's permission and install anyway??? Not on MY laptop you don't!!!

Hubby said they make Win10 a critical update which is why it does it automatically (he's in IT, actually, he's a mainframe programmer)

I have even critical updates "ask" me, so no it doesn't have to be automatic, though a critical update would take precedence.

Yep, that's what they did, Rae, and if like my friends you have updates install automatically, Win10 you have unwanted. My computer has updates turned off by my choice, and I have no virus protection either, but I am very, very careful where I go and what I do on that machine. Most of my browsing is done on the phone. Much safer.

Wow, when with this rain stop? its been going on since last night. Flash floods everywhere. At least the severe thunderstorm warning has been cancelled.

Oh wow, Rae, it sure is a humdinger! My daughter arrived back on the Goldie Thursday just in time for the storm, maybe you can blame her

haha must have been her. its rare to have a winter storm (ours are normally in summer)

Thanks Pen. Yep, still have severe storm warnings just not thunderstorm one. Rain let up for about an hour, puppy's not happy, he couldn't go out to play

That's no good...I hope you're not in one of the areas that's prone to flooding up there. Totally understand not letting the puppy out...

actually I'm the only one in my street not on the flood plain even in the worst floods near us all we've really had is a lap pool out the front (we have a 75cm deep ditch next to the road for drainage and that can fill up in floods)

Thank God the rain stopped sometime early this morning.

Glad to hear it stopped as well, Rae. We got some rain a couple of days ago which lasted over a day but it varied from heavy to sprinkles. I think that system is now flooding Texas.

That's one doozy storm front! I see NSW is under water now. Hope you dry out quickly, Rae.

yeah, yesterday I think it was the whole east coast now it looks like NSW and VIC are still coping it. hope everyone down south is ok
