Afternoon all. It's blowing like stink here and I'm still in bed. Time to get up and have some coffee.

Afternoon all...reports are finally handed over to the proof reader, such a relief!

My sister was saying there is minor flooding near where she is at low head but it wasn't as bad as Launceston fortunately.

Okie..... Results of Dr appt today: Got prescription for 500mg of Naproxen twice a day, better knee brace than I already had, advice to keep my leg elevated when possible (I started that yesterday afternoon), ice the knee two or three times a day, a suggestion to use either what turned out to be Homeopathic cream or Aspercreme a few times a day, crutches (already using them at home) and a Dr note telling work I'm on light duty for two weeks. Now my poor badly overworked right leg can get some rest.
The last two make the Boss' not allowing me to get my vacation next week pretty much moot as the reason was he wanted me available to help sack and check since it's the week of the 15th and therefore will be busy. Someone on crutches can't very well carry out people's groceries.
(Learned something in the process. I already knew that Gila Monster venom was being studied for medicinal purposes and know know that Homeopaths are using it for their own ideas which are quite different than what has scientists interested in it.)

I must have missed what happened Terre, sounds painful. I wonder if the boss will let you have your vacation now :) (would suck being injured and not able to enjoy it)

I haven't mentioned it here before. I've just been hoping that walking slower at work would let it heal but apparently not. My knee and lower leg are quite sore.
I suspect that I still won't get my vacation until late July but at least I don't have to wait that long until my leg gets a good rest.

legs are a pain (no pun intended) to heal, most of the time they need to be put up and rest or to keep off of them. Hopefully the crutches help (I have trouble with crutches so usually end up with a walking stick, doesn't keep the weight entirely off the leg but helps).
Hopefully it heals quickly for you

I think they are still having problems way south but up here is not too bad (they did only re-open the beaches a day or so ago because of all the debris in the water, stupid surfers were still out there but the water almost looked like mud).

Hi everyone :)

That's sounds really painful, Terre, and I hope you can spend that well deserved time with your leg up. I'm like Rae, I can't use crutches, well, the new sort anyway, my wrists are too weak. I'm a fan of the old fashioned under the armpit type. Which you can't get anymore down here. Take care and get well :grouphug:

We are now into day three of the gale but with no bad damage as its been mostly wind and not more than 45kn/80kph/50mph. We have had the odd over 50kn gust...that's when my rocking chair was rocking right over and trying to tip me out ;) The river is brownish but not Mississippi brown and there's very little debris. So we got off mainly scott free unlike the east coast of Aus. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost family and friends and homes. A big hug from across the ditch.

Hey Lorraine.

Now that you mention it, I can't remember the last time I saw under the arm crutches here either. I know I can't use a cane, as I tried that back in 2005 when I fractured my foot, and the palm of my hand not only hurt, it was bright red, so I gave up on that idea. Of course, I had a soft shoe cast, so I was able to walk, I just didn't like the idea of putting full weight on it, as I wanted it to heal quickly.

Hi Miss B :) Yeah, these days the assumption seems to be you have really strong wrists and mine are shot. As would a lot of peoples as they get older, or if they've had or got CTS. I'm not meaning walking sticks for balance etc, but for when you really need support after a broken leg, sprained ankle or for what Terre is suffering at the mo. I wonder what the powers that be rationale was for the change.

As a CTS sufferer for the majority of my adult life, I have absolutely no idea.

Hope you're feeling better soon Terre...

I don't know much about cts so I'm not sure what's involved.

Pen, CTS is carpel tunnel syndrome. A squashed nerve in the base of the hand makes your hands numb, then muscle wastage makes them weak. And even if you have the operation to free up the nerve, you never get the strength back. So if planning to have the op, sooner is much better than later.

I have heard of carpel tunnel syndrome just didn't connect it to cts...silly me. Thanks Lorraine.
