The Anchorage, Part 3

It is getting on for winter except we are having an unprecidentedly warm May. It's crazy. Frosts are two months late down country and I'm still running round in summer dresses. I put my winter sheets on my bed and they are COOKING me. And it hurts so much to change my sheets that they will be staying on.

Good morning.
Busy times for me for the next few weeks and it may be necessary to push my vacation back fro June 4-11 to the following week. The store is getting a total reset in the shelf stable departments which will start on May 31st with the health and beauty section starting earlier. Produce got done a couple of days ago and new products are still trickling in. Down side to being the person in charge of all the pricing. I MUST be on hand to make sure things are in the computer and scanning correctly. Many won't be as they are items we've never carried before. The warehouse guys will have shelf tags for the items they carry but not the things from other vendors and there will be lots of lost shelf tags which I will need to make replacements for.

Hi Terre, that sounds a busy time indeed! I'm just about to head to bed...I got lost in a book and now it's nearly 5am.

It's been a while since I did that. LOL

At least I was in bed before the tweety birds were up I'm going to start my next book somewhat earlier in the evening. I know I will read a book all the way through in one go so starting one in the late evening is so silly of me. Was a damn good book but!

That is the problem with a good book. Although, nowadays, I fall asleep without meaning to.

Hey, Satira Yep, a good book will do that to you, keep you up past your bedtime that is. Don't fall asleep myself over them, my longest stint was reading the entire Twilight series over 48 hrs with one sleep somewhere in the middle

I didn't use to fall asleep while reading (or watching stuff on the kindle). I blame living in Philadelphia for that! It's just so exhausting living packed like sardines.

Stephen is looking fab!

Oh gosh it would be! Can't actually think of anything worse. Right now the only thing I can hear is the slight squeak of my rocking chair and a tiny slap of water against the dinghy and some shrimp snapping in the mud under the boat. So very quiet. And now I'm going to go and turn on the Beast and blast the neighbourhood with sound!

Well thank goodness we don't live near each other, because I'm about to log off for the night and hit the bed. I'm tired.

Have a good sleep, Miss B. It's only 6.15pm here and everyone is tucked away inside their houses and boats, the Beast will be but a gentle roar in the distance

Good morning.
Satira, he does look good but I agree that the handles of the tools look odd. I've never see a ring before, I'm used to a half circle like Pen mentioned.
Tuesday is going to be interesting for me. The big store reset that I was told would be starting at the end of the month will be starting tomorrow. We'll see what I end up doing with the sale signs I normally hang Tuesday night.

3 am or so and it finally gets quiet here. That's my favorite time of the day. I just don't get to experience it most night :wink:

I thought the ring handle looked weird too when I first saw it, but the more I came across it in my garden tool searches, the more it appealed to me. The Radius Garden Tools are most definitely beautiful ... especially, the hand tools. Makes me wish I had a garden so I could buy them!

I imagine most of the "heavy lifting" with the shovels and digging forks comes from stepping on the blade/top of the tines with the feet, rather than using the hands. Especially, if you suffer from arthritis. You'd get far more force from your legs than from your shoulders.

Hi guys.

Umm.... Stuff went kablooy.
I had to go back in for a couple of hours this afternoon. I also need to go in tomorrow instead of have the day off both to make sure that the fix we tried to apply this afternoon took and to make sure that things go well with the pricing on the tags the warehouse guys will be hanging tomorrow.
On the bright side my paycheck next Wednesday will be bigger than I had expected as I'm hourly instead of on salary.
Dunno how long I'll end up being there tomorrow.

A bigger check is nice!

But no fun to have to work on your day off.

I'm salaried, so working more hours doesn't get me a bigger check, nor does it result in comp time.

Even more annoying, we all now have to fill out a timesheet whether we're hourly or salaried. Mine is always 4 hours over every week, since I only take a lunch hour on Wednesdays. But be late, and I have to use vacation time.

You probably have to fill out a time sheet because of a new law that gives salaried employees overtime in certain situations. From what you are saying you don't put in enough extra hours to matter but you employer needs paperwork to prove that.
