Awesome
I like one click does all please.
Also Rae points I like Name of Bird as I can look in the Manual to find out where it lives etc. :p What would be nice is a world map locating the birds habitats. Only joking too much work. :)

Another vote for loading the whole bird in one go. Grouping is your call. Either way works.

I mean, we're going to have to relearn it anyway.

I experimented with the mini-sets on Birds of Prey simply because they were more expensive sets and wanted to give option purchasing options. I might continue that practice with the $30ish dollar sets, but for the bulk of my sets, I purposely add some birds that people might not want because I think they've important and hope some users will learn to love them (or at least care about them). Think of it as the broccoli on plate-- your parents put it on your plate because it's good for you, not necessarily because you'll like it ;)

Here's the list of the 30 basic bird groups. I think most most would be able to find what they are looking for in these categories. I just think something has to change, I'm looking for a specific bird and can't remember whether it was in Amazon or Cool and Unusual 2 or something else... but if that bird was listed in "Perching Birds (Order Passeriformes)" I'd know to look there because that's where all the sparrow-like birds are.

Doing by type, probably is the way to go since as I stated initially , with regions, I'd end up repeating some birds for every region which have worldwide ranges. There will be 31 groups since I need to add "Fantasy and Mythological" to that list. I might be tempted in some of the larger groups like "Perching Birds (Order Passeriformes)" to break down that huge group (since it includes more than half of all bird species) a little more in subfolders to "Finches and Sparrows", "Wrens", etc

But, but, but, I looooove broccoli. Unfortunately, it's high in calcium oxalate, so I have to restrict how much, and how often, I can eat it or I'll have another Kidney Stone attack, and trust me . . . once in a lifetime is more than enough.

OK, I see how by type might be the best way to go. I hadn't thought about a good many species being native in many different regions, which would result in duplication.

I've been working on the DS Native version of Birds of Prey v1, and it's working out pretty well. I'm using the Character Save preset so, yes, all of the birds will be one click. I did have a small break-through on the Poser side finding a very good solution for wing and tail translucency (shown below)... I'm still tinkering with thew Iray translucency. Translucency is tough to get right-- it's highly dependent on the strength, positioning and type of lighting you put into the scene-- so there's no real "out of the box" solution. I guess I'll find to write a tutorial for that.

The translucency is subtle in this American Kestrel FF render but enough to give the right look
With the black feathers you don't see too much translucency but check out the edge of the tail feathers in this Iray Harrier render

one click bird sounds good...

I don't know how it looks in Poser or DS but my Poses folder in Carrara can be confusing at times when looking for a SBRM bird or pose, so that could do with simplifying.. a bit.... maybe.... I just can't find that emu!

Apart for the hugely time-consuming task of updating the SBRM models, I find myself caring for two needy birds all day long...

of course, there's Elsa, my 20 yr-old Citron-Cuckatoo, who thinks she's still 2 1/2yrs old child (and will so for the rest of her life (approx 30-50 yrs more)

...for the last week, I've also been caring for a Band-tailed Pigeon nestling who got displaced. Band-tails are large pigeons (bigger than rock doves aka feral/street pigeons). Band-tails are yellow-listed (close to threatened) and are only found along the west coast of the Americas (primarily NA). They require forested areas to survive and are the nearest relative to the extinct Passenger Pigeon.

We're hoping to release him/her in another week with the rest of the Band-tailed flock that visits on yard daily once he/she starts feeding solid food.

The adult Band-tailed pigeon is a real beauty and in my Gamebirds set...

Ken just curious if you had a hand in developing the old DAZ/zygote eagles
Set?
Recently tried using it and noticed some problems with it in newer versions of Poser and had to re-download it from my DAZ archive. But because it was purchased before DAZ offered the dL history on line I had to jump through hoops to prove to sales I actually did pay for it long ago. Got resolved and it works fine now.But I was just curious if you did create it how different your modern birds of prey are to that older bird set?

I didn't work on the original Zygote/DAZ Eagle set. There was an add-on set for "Eagle 1" by my original SBRM partner Bloodsong (aka BL Render)-- sometimes I get credited for that (as well as the DAZ Songbird that Anton did).

I did had a hand in couple other bird sets (other than SBRM)... I worked on DAZ's Eagle2 as a texture artist. I asked to be uncredited due to some differences on how the model was mapped (that caused inaccurate markings on the wings). I also worked on Zygote Media Group's Hawk model (2005) as a texture artist which was sold through the Zygote website.

even longer than that... my first product was through Zygote (before the DAZ split). But that's simply the second half of my computer life...

I started when home computers were first introduced getting a TI-99/4a and even ran a BBS (bulletin board system) way before there was an internet.
