I do...actually it's Poser Pro 2014 and PP11 on the same workstation...I have PP2010, and also the first Poser Pro on it too, because different things call for different versions....works fine. Seliah, I thought of you when I saw the sale, and was hoping you'd consider Poser 11, even though you might have to ride out the bug fixes with us, you'd also be able to learn along side us as well :) And if you can get in the upgrade path when it's cheap, it's not so bad...that's how I got into it in the first place.

That's what I'm thinking, Sky. $50 I don't mind spending to get a 64-bit program, and I can always upgrade/sidegrade to Pro11 later whenever it goes on sale... which is my end goal, as I really want things like the fitting room also.

But I also want access to Paul and Pauline, too. I just like the way the figures look. And maybe a 64-bit version will perform better for me than the 32-bit P10... for only $50, I don't mind taking a "maybe" chance. Full price, no way. LOL

Don't blame you there...at least you know what you're getting into...you've gotten an ear full in this thread...haha....but we're covering every possible bug and finding a work around. It's easier to pass files to DS4 from Poser than vice versa...it will help you in your workflow.

I really like Paul too...I just don't get why there hasn't been much support, even with freebies. He bends nicely, like Roxie.

LOL. Well, as I've said before. I used Poser from version 4 right up until about version 7... skipped everything in between that and P10... so yeah, I know what I'm getting into as far as stability goes.

I'm just curious to see if this version performs better than P10 as far as resource management. As far as bugs go... well, it's going to be like the material room thing for me. Expect that I am probably gonna be in the Poser software forum pulling my hair out trying to learn it.

I'm about as fluent in "current day Poser-speak" as you are in current-day Studio-speak. LMAO

Yes, it is MUCH easier to use Poser content inside of DS4, than to import DS content to Poser. MUCH easier. And it always has been like that.

I really like Paul too...I just don't get why there hasn't been much support, even with freebies. He bends nicely, like Roxie.

Historically, Sky, the Poser-native figures have never seen much content support. This isn't anything new. It's always been this way. Also, historically, I've never really liked the naming conventions of the Poser-native figure morphs, either. I find things like "Exomorph, Endomorph," etc to be obnoxious and irritating. Yes, I know what they mean. But it's still irritating. Just call it what it is. Thin, Bulky, Emaciated, etc.

But yes. It's not a new thing for the lack of content support on the native Poser figures... this has always been the case, and unless something drastic changes, it always will be. Part of the problem is that SM/Poser do not make their Poser-native figures outside of the program. So, if, say, a talented modeler wanted to make something for them... well it's not like Daz or HiveWire where you can go buy the base figure. Nope. Have to buy the whole program to get the base figure. In the end, it's not worth the cost if one isn't seriously going to use the software the figures are for... and it impacts the content support.

It will be great that you can have the benefit of being current with the latest Poser without such a steep investment...$50 is not bad at all for what you'll be gaining.

Right. Exactly. $50 is a standard cost for many utility programs that we use in our workflows. I don't mind that, especially as these days, that's really all Poser has been for me, is just a utility to use when I need to kit-bash something or back-door something around in my workflow. So I don't mind a $50 chance. If the program works better than P10 for me, then wonderful, and I will sidegrade to the Pro11 version at a later date when they offer it at a good enough discount.

And if it doesn't work so well for me, then I'm not out anymore cash than I would have been on a utility software.

I'm downloading the thing tonight... I can't play with it yet as I am still working on that 2D anniversary book for my Bear's church... but I am at least running the install so that when I'm ready to play with it, it's ready to open.

Oh good, so you're downloading now...neat. You know, you'll also get a chance to play with superfly, if you're so inclined. I've been so busy, I only did the poses for Andy for folks with low system resources to use to test superfly...it works even on a cruddy graphics cars...it's just slower....here are the Andy 2 poses, and there have been a few freebie mats circulated. My stuff for Paul and Pauline starts with Paul on page 3 of my gallery at ShareCG...and goes until page 6, where Pauline's stuff begins. If picking through all that is irritating, you could go to my RDNA free stuff thread, Paul and Pauline are the very first category, organized and separated from everything else.

Thanks, Sky. I will look them up when I'm able to break open the box on the software... which I will do once I'm done with the 2D project here.

I'm installing the SR3 update now...so we'll see if it helps things. You probably haven't purchased Poser in awhile, they use a download manager now, and that's also how you get your updates...just put your serial number in and it retains it for future updates.

I wish there was a way to choose Firefly as the default renderer...there might be, I just don't know what it is....I'm so used to Firefly, that I end up having to cancel out the Superfly render that begins by default, when I just want a quick render of something. You'll have to get used to that...just go under render settings and choose the Firefly tab.

Yes, I think they started using the download manager back around P10... I know that I had to get P10 via that method in the first place when I bought it...

Duly noted on the render settings, though. I'll take a look at it when I can. I know in prior versions you could save your own custom render settings... wonder if that might work in the current version or not. I'll see soon enough.

I was helping GG earlier with her Dusk robe...so I guess she's gotten the information she needed. She did a really good job with it...I like the frayed edges option on it. It's supposed to have other texture options to make it a fancier robe too. It behaved well in the cloth room...default settings were fine for walking and standing poses, and with kneeling poses it was best to increase the cloth density and fold resistance, as with most robes I've tried. If a Dawn version is created, I could use them with Baby Luna for the Nativity. And it was good to find a V4 version today of Bionic Rooster's robe...so there can be a M4 and V4 version as well.

Ah... I do have the M4 robe from Bionic Rooster... I did not know there was a V4 version. I don't recall where I got the M4 version from... was it posted to Rendo's freestuff, or ShareCG?

Back up to the previous page in this thread, and go to post 2071 and you'll find all the info that I collected today about free dynamic clothing for Poser...there's 12 pages of stuff on Rendo. You'll see a link to the V4 Bionic Rooster robe, and the M4 version is also included in the 12 pages of stuff. Several items by SAV that are good...I used the M4 pants to run the test sim on previous page.
