Yes, the three habitat sets I've done (Sagebrush, Saguaro & Big Cypress) are in two formats (Poser or native DAZ Studio) and have settings for all four renderers (3Delight, Iray, Firefly and Superfly)

Here's another snow image... I'd probably make some minor changes if I was going to render it again... but since it took an entire day (even on my "fast" machine), that isn't going to happen lol

The reason for the long render times? Apart from the obvious geometry and texture complexity, there's a lot of sub-surface scattering in the plants and snow plus atmospheric effects and ambient occlusion.

thanks everyone... one reason for the extra slow render is the "Snow Machine" plugin-- all the snow you seen in the Sagebrush and Saguaro images are "on the fly" polygons created by the plugin... that explains why my 32 gig of memory was running perilously low during the render. Imagine that,... and I thought 32 gig was overkill. I guess I'll be getting another 32 as a Christmas present to myself lol

For those wanting to play with the "Snow machine", here's my tips....

1. Add in all the items you want covered in snow, load the Snow Machine and "Apply to All", THEN add in the non-snow covered items.
2. Save for scene BEFORE rendering.
3. The render will probably crash if you don't have enough memory. Fortunately, Poser saves the render by buckets done, so even if Poser crashes, you can reload the program go to the last render and save what was completed. From there, do area renders and paste them together to finish the scene. Doing "Area Renders" and the paste together method is a way to bypass not having enough memory.

Yes, I've done compositing for large outdoor renders before. I haven't tried Snarly's Snow Machine yet, but that's probably what I'd need, as this puppy only has 8GB of memory. It is fully hyperthreaded, and with everything else closed, I "might" get more done more easily, but I don't think I'd try a full on render needing that much power all at once.

Thanks for putting that link in there, Ken… I don't think I installed the snow machine in my 2014 but now you got me really wanting to try it again! I probably didn't have the newest version anyway. Do you have a solid-state hard drive? I know that helps with my machine my renders and I had 64 gigs of RAM put in when I had the machine made. Also the size of your image or rendering matters… What output pixel size do you choose? Just curious. I think getting more RAM for Christmas is just the ticket! :)
