Just stumbled across something. This is from the Wikipaedia page on the Flash. It turns out that DC had a female character called Green Lightning. Speedster with a Green Lantern power ring apparently.

Well at that time, it was 6:12pm here in the Northeast USA, so that means you're about 14 hours ahead of me, and I would guess 16 hours ahead of Terre, though it might only be 15 hours ahead of Terre. I can never remember what states are in which time zones, and which states in the same time zone don't change their clocks twice a year like we do.

In Mountain time Arizona doesn't change. The rest do as far as I know.
GMT - 7 hours is what I'm at. (Daylight version)

By the time it's 8am Wednesday here I'll have been back at work for two hours. Wednesday is tiring as I get off around 9pm Tues and need to be back at 6am Wed.
Tuesday is the only day I work in the evening.

OK, so my first choice of a 2 hour difference is correct. Yes, my family in Arizona don't change their clocks, so half the year they're 2 hours behind me, and the other half a year, they're 3 hours behind me (same as Pacific time). I always thought that was weird.

Yeah, I knew about that. I'd seen it when I first started doing research for my character. She is the daughter of the Flash (I don't remember which one, Barry or Wally).

I am on the other side of the world most of the time. Right now I am in Guam and as of this typing, it's 11:30am on Wednesday here. It's a weird time zone to be in. I think if I remember correctly, we are about 7 hours behind Pacific time zone...

What are you going to do? I didn't know that name had been taken! It's happened to me as well. Don't forget that comic writers have nothing else to do but think up names. They are going to borrow a name, change colors, file the names off and add their own twist to it. They are probably monitoring this thread just to get more names!! Back in the 60's, Supergirl had a doppelganger named Mighty Maid! I can't even think of the backlash from the female comic lovers if that name was attempted today. Even though in that particular set of issues, it was set on another planet, Mighty Maid was the boss and Superman was her "Secret Weapon".

Wonder Woman has the advantage of time. You and I don't! Unless you published ANYTHING with that name first. You and I and couple of others here (getting old is not for sissies) have the other side of the advantage of time.

Oh and I've been doing monster high quality renders. There is nothing like taking 14 hours of render pure time not including setup time, test renders, repeat until it's how you like then and only then turning on the shadows, Putting hair back on the figure cuz nothing takes more time than hair only to find that her wrists were joined together as if she were an alien species. Face perfect, lighting perfect, pose perfect, background perfect and her wrists fused together. Not perfect.

And to complete the cycle I am running on pacific time. It's currently 10:31 at night. Maybe we can run together and get another midnight (my time) chat going.

How long is a union coffee break!? :coffee:
15 minutes, and we get two per day. Basically, every two hours of work. So it's nice.

As far as the name, I am not sure what I am going to do. DC may come after me, so I'll find a way around it. Sort of like the term superhero. Since my story isn't in comic form, there may be a precedent. I may have to contact a lawyer. Or have to flush 30 years of canon and give him a new name. That might be harder than fighting the original name, however. I saw the list of both DC and Marvel superheroes. There are hundreds of them. Finding a name that isn't on one of those lists will be extremely difficult, especially since his powers have already been fleshed out, as well as the costume. I even came up with an icon/logo for him.

I will figure it out by the time the first draft is finished.

I know your pain as far as waiting forever for a render to complete and find a glaring error. It's happened to me plenty. All we can do is smile and fix it and start over. If I was doing my comic, I'd be doing my renders on another machine while using my main one to create with. I know not everyone has that option, but it does save a little time and a few heartaches.

Yes I'm thinking of learning how to use the render queue. I tell you hear and now that hair takes the longest to render of anything I do. Metal and shadows tuned to quality standards and my machine swallows it like a tiny aspirin. But a thick head of hair and my machine looks like it's crawled to a stop, over 90 percent CPU usage. I'm wondering if a better graphics card would lift some of the burden as my graphics chip is embedded on the motherboard.

Does anyone know the maximum size of an image I can upload for the forum?

In the meantime : This has something about the name. http://io9.gizmodo.com/5771870/how-to-create-your-own-original-superhero-from-scratch

You already have a hero but the concern is the name and it's addressed here. Bottomline is simpler than we think but you read the BIG Print box and decide for yourself.

Thanks Rob! I'll read that and give this some serious thought. I woke up this morning thinking about it.

So I guess what I really need to do is find out how much DC used the name Green Lightning, how many issues she appeared in. The time frame might be important too, as far as her story goes. She is obviously in the future, being a decedent of both a Lantern and Wally West (like great granddaughter decedent). So that fact that my story takes place in present day might have some weight.

In the meantime, I am going to pour some serious thought into renaming him, just to keep my butt covered.

The latter would be the safest rout but it won't be easy. Good luck.

Meanwhile this has been one of the craziest work days I've ever had.

1: "Terre are the paper towels still the sale price because they are still the same as yesterday?" "No."
Check the roll I have sitting in the office because The Big Boss wanted a TPR (temporary price reduction) on it. Ending date: 06/23/18 Ummmmm that was supposed to have been 08/23/16. How the blazes did I do a transposition like that?!
Generate a report of all the UPCs with that date, print it out, spend an hour removing the bad info from over 400 items UPC by UPC.
2: Finally head out to the floor to finish hanging the sale signs and find I need to make a sign for some frozen shring in the meat dept. WTF?!?!?! is it doing at base price? Check the brats I just finished hanging sales signs on, yup. This is one of those weeks when the warehouse forgot to include the meat dept UPCs in the download batch. GO back to the office to type a couple dozen items in and make the two signs I needed to make.
3: Meanwhile the meat manager discovered that his Uploaded Lunchables are missing EVERY SINGLE PRICE TAG and ONLY the Uploaded ones. The cheaper ones above them and the other items to either side still have all of their tags. If this had been a child playing then the damage would have been less item specific. We are also out of two of the flavors so I have to print out the pages from the order guide that include the once I need and dig through them to figure out which 5 of over 20 items I need to make tags for, Get that done.
4: Spend around an hour going down each aisle of the store putting together a specialty order. Sit down at the computer and log into their website. Start to put in the order.... Why am I getting red messages saying the items aren't available at ........ Flower Mound? WTF? We order out of Dallas. Call the customer care line and ask if we've been re-assigned and find out that we were and the order due day has been moved forward from Tuesday morning to Sunday morning. (Good thing I decided to get an early start.) Now go back out to the aisles and write down the UPCs of the items we need so I can enter those as the new warehouse has different order numbers than the old one. Enter the first UPC. Red message AGAIN. Oh. The warehouse system need the check digit at the end which our retail system doesn't need. We are totally out of a few items so I can't just look at them to get the info, OK.... Lets play hop-between-the-cart-and-the-product-catalog to get the order put in. Meanwhile the UPC list is shorter than the order number list I had made and it's already 3:30 (I've been at work since 6am) Let's finish this on Saturday
