A Place to lay my head...

Okay, after re-rendering, albeit from a different angle, I think the main problem is simply that that wood texture is too large. Fortunately, that particular texture is more or less just to give people an idea of how it will look when finished.

Oh, it does look better from this angle, and you might be right about the size of the texture. Try reducing it by 50%-75% and see how it renders.

Sometimes you get more details with a smaller size. I just did that with a texture I'm working on, and it looked so much better at 75% than 100%.

Okay, finished (mostly) the wall oven now. Still need to add a refrigerator and a Dishwasher for under the sink in the island. I say mostly about the oven because i still need to a a few minor details. Doors to the cabinet, controls on the oven, etc. The doors of course on the oven will work. and while the racks in the oven are separate objects I'm not sure whether to make them separate objects or make them visible/invisible.

The dangers of a shiny floor. I was just playing around because... well I AM a guy, but I actually got close enough on this render to spot a mesh problem with that cabinet door. I really have to start cleaning up this mesh.

Okay, so while she's waiting for the oven guy to finish installing her new oven, the workers came to install Dawn's new floor. The did a decent job too. She's admiring the work they did on the dining room floor while they're working in another part of the house.

And I just made an interesting discovery. I have my cabinets covering up a window in the kitchen. The floor plans don't show cabinets, and I didn't see the window. I have three choices, move or remove the cabinets, move the window, or remove the window. I'm inclined at this moment to simply reposition the window.

I'm liking the new floors Earl. I would also just reposition the kitchen window. Normally, I would think it would be over the sink, which is probably on a different wall than those seen in the renders you've been posting.

Well, I decided to wait on the water shader until I get some advice back from Bagginsbill. So here's the quick render of the sink in the island. And please remember that most of the stuff you see would by no stretch even meet my own standards, let alone HW so I'm far from finished.

Oh but you have a good start. I like the sink, now that I see it from the other side of the Island.

Yeah, unfortunately there's no drain to that sink yet. I'm wanting to use a reflective shader on the faucet and maybe a clear plastic shader on the hot and cold knobs. And the sink it self needs to be a brushed metal or aluminum type. I've asked BB for some help on that and am waiting to hear back from him. I plan to use those materials on the Oven and Fridge as well.

So, as a matter of modeling, except for cleaning up the mesh and finalizing it the house is pretty much finished modeling-wise. (not counting moving that window and remodeling the roof). I want to create a camera and do a walk thru of the house. If I can't do that I'll place a camera in each room and do a 360 view.

Next though, Mostly texturing the house and props I make.

Oh brushed metal/aluminum will be nice for the sink, oven and fridge.

Texturing is always fun. I've had my head stuck in Filter Forge for several days now. :)
