Fingers crossed for you Rae...our temperature is only supposed to get to 26C with potential rain today. I saw the fires in NSW's on the news this morning...they looked really bad.

Its 29C already and its only 8am :)

I used to hate bushfires (used to smell them often where I grow up) pretty lucky up here, I haven't really heard of any bad ones.

Hey everyone! Four long days without internet access are over and I'm back to normal, constantly picking up my phone :) We've had some real hot days here and luckily no fires up here. Not so lucky further south with the Coromandel losing some houses and a fifty year old commune today. There's another fire threatening homes in the Waikato, not near my sister's place thankfully. But we desperately need rain and we may get a sprinkle tomorrow.

Best wishes to the folk who are threatened by fire. I really hope the weathermen have it right and you get the rain you so desperately need! :grouphug:

Afternoon all! We got a couple of drips (not even drops) of rain and a blast of wind. I was drinking my coffee this arvo when the phone rang, a frantic Rose on it telling me Cuckoo was dragging, she (Rose) was in town and Matt needed help. Into the dinghy and off I went to where Cuckoo was nearly enveloping Rayah! I steered and controlled the engines while Matt cleared the rope round his second anchor and we motored Cuckoo out into a clearer area with no boats behind her. They still have to go back and retrieve the main anchor from where it was abandoned but that can wait till the wind drops. Nothing like a drop of adrenaline in your coffee to make you feel alive !!!

This is one of my favourite sites: www.explore.org which includes the current fave in the link below

Baby Panda Camera - Live panda video from China | Explore.org

It brings together animal webcams from everywhere including Lucy and my favourite Peregrine Falcon cam from Great Spirit Bluffs where we watched four of them progress from hatching to first flights during last year. Be warned! It can become addictive (as Miss B probably knows!). We even ended up with Lucy's school getting involved when they left a computer logged on to the site so that the kids could watch during school hours! :bee:

I can't access that story without subscribing, so I'm a little bit out of the loop.

That said, I send my good thoughts just the same. :grouphug:

That's odd Miss B as I don't subscribe and I was able to access it...we had someone with mental health issues cause a lot of injuries and 4 deaths yesterday, including children.
