The Anchorage, Part 3

I'm aiming all the fans we have in the house due south-west as we speak Rae!

Actually, the only person looking forward to it is our Lucy because thats the thing she's missed most since her and mom moved to the UK (from Toronto) last year. Mind you! By this time of year she'd probably be up to her little lugholes in it. There's a photo of her knocking around somewhere of her at two-years-old standing on top of a large snowdrift in their old driveway. The fact that she's actually standing on top of mom's Jeep probably explains the cheeky grin!

Precisely none at the moment Terre! The Met office is predicting from Thursday onwards now because of the jet stream which is directing cold air from the north. The last time we actually saw snow (and the Met office got it right!) here was 4 years ago, and I only saw that because I was fishing on the Stone Jetty in the early hours one morning when it started. It went from bitterly cold and cloudy to almost total whiteout and two inches of snow within minutes and I abandoned Jetty! It had all disappeared the next day because of our salty atmosphere. There are advantages in living near the sea, even in winter! :)

I'm home :) Sitting in mine chair looking out at a sunny, hot day with a cooling sea breeze. Can't get much better than that

I think we're OK for the cooling sea breeze thing Lorraine though the others bits would be fun! No worries though! I'll only start getting nervous if we start finding frozen penguins on the beach! Welcome home! :shineon:

Good luck. We're supposed to be just west of the bad stuff from the current big storm in the US. Hopefully the temps will stay above freezing if we get the rain they are saying we should.

I just heard a quick snip saying our warmer weather is gone, and they're expecting more snow. Sheesh, will it ever end? I guess I shouldn't complain as the accumulations haven't been bad, and it melts and disappears in a day or 2 at most. So far.

Okaaaayyyyy, I'm used to weather predictions of rain being a guess that doesn't always work out if they say 50% or so but this time we had a 90% chance for a quarter inch of rain. So what do we have? Mist. Other than that the ground is dry.

Now that is the one thing we can be certain of around here Terre. Rain, rain and more rain! The Bay where I live is a noted major cloud formation area because of it's fairly shallow waters and humidity averages around 70-80 degrees. In fact, especially in the summer months, you can watch it in action:

Cloud formation.jpg

This one is right over the middle of the bay and has just started to rise and drift off in the direction of the Lake District (in the background) in the prevailing south-westerly wind. Just occasionally though they will achieve critical mass and let go with a vengence. I well remember one hot, fine day when me and a young Amanda, Sara's mom, walked down the beach for a fishing session, prepared our tackle and got inundated with a heavy downpour for around fifteen minutes before it stopped, leaving us to trudge back up the beach thoroughly soaked (and me being severely berated by a thoroughly cheesed-off young lady!) and steaming gently in the sun. Theres a saying around here that if it isn't raining it's because it's just stopped...or getting ready to start!
