I read the earlier books but didn't read the whole series...I enjoyed the series but I don't think I read the book so didn't have that jarring feeling that comes when they change things.

Oh yes. There are something like 36 books in the entire series. Sword of Shannara is the first in the series, but not the first chronologically.

Twenty years after the Sword of Shannara, Brooks wrote about the events leading up to the Great War, the chemical and nuclear holocaust which resulted in the destruction of our civilization. It wasn't until later we learned the books of The Word & The Void (Running with the Demon, A Knight of the Word, and Angel Fire East) which took place in present day Illinois and the books of The Genesis of Shannara (Armageddon's Children, The Elves of Cintra and The Gypsy Morph) were part of the Shannara universe. The Genesis of Shannara also revealed that the Four Lands are the Pacific Northwest of the US and Canada.

2,000 years after the Great War, humans had mutated into Trolls, Gnomes, Dwarves, and Man, the Elves and magic (as well as druids) reappeared into the world. While it took us 20 years to learn the Shannara world is a post-apocalyptic future of our Earth, the Shannara Chronicles makes that pretty clear upfront.

The Shannara Chronicles skips The Sword of Shannara which is the first book of the Sword of Shannara Trilogy with Shea and Flick Ohmsford and goes right into The Elfstones of Shannara. Shea is half elven and was adopted by the Ohmsfords. He and Flick are very close in the books, unlike the impression we get from the series that Flick thought Shea was no good. Wil Ohmsford, as I mentioned earlier, is the grandson of Shea in the books. The final book of the Sword of Shannara Trilogy is The Wishsong of Shannara and revolves around Jair and Brin Ohmsford, the children of Wil Ohmsford and Eretria.

Dressy gowns. I also love those evening clothes for women that had pants and the flowing gown behind. Doris Day, Lucille Ball and Katherine hepburn used to wear them.

I know what you mean, but I happen to like the style she's wearing in that image you posted. Dawn/Lully has some nice dressy dynamic clothes for Dawn, but the styles are more current.

EC, you just broke my heart. One of my first crushes then and a crush of nostalgia in the present Noel Neil survived 3 different Superman's and was so respected as an Icon of the series she made cameo's in at least 2 of the movies. Never a scandal, always bright and by all reports loving of her fans as we loved her. I did my best to contact her and found her address was, of all places, Metropolis, Illinois. Of all the Lois Lanes, she was my favorite and I still enjoy watching the occasional episode on METV.

Rest in peace and upon laurels of love.

When I get a handle on dynamic draping I'd like to get some of my clothing I made for Dawn a bit more naturally draped and have those as "Drape Morphs" ...

That one image with her dolled up reminds me a bit of Lucille Ball from her more glamorous days!

I guess I will date myself. When I was a kid I liked my little ponies and teenage mutant ninja turtles and star trek. I still like star trek and my little ponies but have not seen teenage mutant ninja turtles movie yet. Or at least not the latest version.

When you were a kid? Star Trek? Which one?

For me it was Star Trek the original series on a friday night and Saturday morning was waiting until the Banana Splits with the Sour Grape girls to come on! Being 10 years old, she was of course, the only girl that I could stand.

Besides Mom. I needed my vittles so I could watch Star Trek.

And my big sister when we had to take on my big brother.

And Joan Collins because she was in Star Trek....see how that came back full circle?

I remember Star Trek being on on a Saturday night. Friday night was Batman, Green Hornet and Time Tunnel. Or am i mis-remembering.

In Sacramento California, it was Star Trek on friday night. Batman came on Wednesday and Thursdays (same bat-time, same bat-channel) until they removed the second day. The Green Hornet with the scene stealing Bruce Lee as Kato, I'm not quite sure what night it came on but I remember thanks to Bruce Lee it made Batman more ridiculous than it already was. I had no idea that the adults had made it "tongue-in-cheek" and still watched it faithfully with the wide eyed wonder I had in having one of my favorite comics come to life.

I still remember the terrible friday night that I waited until 10'o clock for Star Trek to come on and to my horror it had been replaced by "Bracken's World". A Tv show about Network Executives. Only when I became an adult did I realize they replaced my dream show with a show about themselves. Heartbreak! Hey NBC! How did that work out for ya?

As for AlphinaNovaStar (excellent name), it is clear she is so young we are still burping her!
