According to the Smith Micro help guy you are "supposed" to deactivate Poser 11 before doing a system restore. Though how you are supposed to know this I don't know.
Well, maybe if you're a mind reader. I haven't had the activation issue yet, so don't know how often this is supposed to happen, and supposedly there's supposed to be a way to turn it off permanently, I just don't know what that information is, or where to find it.

And Miss B...remember PDG alluded to that particular robe not being low poly...so perhaps a denser mesh requires the settings to be cranked up a little. When I left it with the settings we'd discussed in this thread with PDG, it tended to look all crimpy and unnatural...and I was thinking, it needed to be like thicker cloth would behave, so that was my logic in trying those settings. I could've jumped for joy when the bottom of the robe folded nicely over the feet. One problem is that particular robe is just a bit long...it almost touches the ground plane...so problems with the feet are inevitable. Anyway, those were my conclusions after the project was completed.

I promise, I'm heading for a nap soon...don't want anybody fussing at me later about it :)

Right, of course. I forgot about the low polys, and yes that makes a big difference as well. Considering it is low poly, it draped nicely.

Now get to bed woman! :)

There's a way to turn it off....oh please, please, please...how is it done. I'm a single user, and just have more than one workstation in my house because of my health issues...can't lift and move hard drives like I used to. The only one using my serials (I have Pro11 for the workstations, and P11 for the laptop) is me...so I should not be having to wrestle with my software de-activating...it's crazy. The laptop is movable of course, but I already tried running a sim on it, and it just blanked out on me, like it was saying you've got to be kidding...haha...it's older and just doesn't have the juice for that stuff. It will do quick poses and conversions.

Well, I've run out of grace, so I've got to take my nap now...haha....I'm going, I'm going...shuffles away dragging blanket.

Good evening Miss B. and all the rest. :)
Almost bedtime for me. Tomorrow is likely going to be a long day. There will only be two managers most of the morning with me being one of them so getting my work done around helping take care of last minute Easter shoppers will take more time than usual.

I'm baa-aack...and yes, I had a good, long nap...time now for Poser fix, and Nataani :) I let folks on ShareCG know that I'm taking a break for awhile....so I can have some play and learning time :drawing:

Okay, here's a thread addressing the Poser de-activation and system restore issue. Also another here. And a lengthy one here, with page 2 here.

C:\ProgramData\Poser\11 ...tree doesn't exist on my Windows 7 Pro workstation. I'm wondering if this is the fix for Windows 10 users?

It seems the majority of folks posting in these threads have simply lost their activation with no solution. Attempting to re-do it, for some, has equaled using another one of their permitted licenses (three are allowed).

I'm back to my original conclusion...Poser is just not worth all this. If I do a clean factory re-install of everything on my computer, I stand to lose a lot of licenses, because a lot of companies are going along with this idiotic method. Well, that's enough time spent on it this evening....on to other things.

Ugh. I'm sorry, Sky. I wish I had an answer for you. I agree that it's stupidity on the part of these companies, but they do it because people go along with it and don't complain or boycott the product. I would be going nuts if I was having that kind of issue with DS! I feel for you, I just don't have any idea how it would need to be fixed. Ugh.

I was just thinking the same thing...one user complaining on one of these threads said that their company had lost 10 licenses because of this de-activation mess...and another user cites a specific Microsoft Flash update that took place during the time frame of my problem. Folks who work for companies that have money to back them up need to take action. I made the mistake of leaving my workstation up while I was working on the shepherd project, because of the problem I had with the project before that, losing the data completely, so it was while I was resting that this particular update took out the ability for PP11 to do a successful dynamic sim, and not knowing exactly what happened, I assumed the fast fix would be restore to previous function on Monday of this week. So when I did that, supposedly it corrupted the PP11 activation. That's the long, involved story. It should not be this way. Software companies should know better than to depend that heavily on Windows stability. It has gotten so you have to keep at least minimal internet access for things to remain functional...now even with that minimal access, this type of thing happens. All this junk is paving the way toward software being online subscription based...so folks are suckered into a $10 dollar a month deal, paying $120 a year for software that they could have upgraded to for that price...duh...haha. In two years, one would be paying $240 to use the latest Poser, exceeding the upgrade price. That's if the monthly fee was just $10. Multiply that times all the companies that are trying to nudge people in that direction....it wouldn't take long for a heavy user to rack up over $100 a month in subscription and membership fees. Folks are just not bothering to do the math, or think about what they are being pulled into. And this is progress...haha.

I'm loading up Dusk, the Hivewire Horse, and Nataani in DS. I'm not sure I'll be able to render out anything tonight, but I'll at least have him ready to go tomorrow. I get up early tomorrow for errands.

Hmmmmm, I'm on Windows 7 Pro and I have that folder structure. I have 2 subfolders, one for 9 and one for 11, and folder 11 has 6 files in it.

I find it odd that you don't have that folder.

Hey Miss B :) I'll look again...I'm no stranger to file trees and finding stuff, and on first inspection, there was nothing resembling that.

Well I have Dusk loaded in DS now...so I'm making some progress :)

Sky, I'm not sure how it's done on Win10. But do you have "show hidden files/folders" enabled? Could that file path maybe be "hidden files" since it has to do with the activation stuff? Just a random thought. I could be completely wrong.

And congrats on getting Dusk loaded. Another difference between Poser and DS - any morphs you have for Dusk will already be available as soon as he loads. You do not inject them like Poser does. You just select Dusk, and go to the Shaping tab for his morph dials. Just an FYI so you don't go crazy hunting for a non-existant "injection" folder. :) Nataani's "morph" folder simply applies a Shape Preset, so all it does is set the values on Dusk's morph dials.

Yeah Seliah...I just realized that when Nataani loaded painlessly without searching with a flashlight to find stuff like one has to do with Poser injections...haha.

And yes, just thinking while I was working with Nataani, bet it's a hidden folder issue, so I'll need to pursue that probably tomorrow. I know if I get started with it tonight, I'll still be sitting here at dawn trying to work through it...and it's been upsetting enough, I need to watch that...and take it in small steps tomorrow.

Nataani is looking good so far :)

I hope you have fun with him, Sky. :) I really tried to give him enough options to be versatile for anyone's tastes.

I am testing the waters on the Poser materials again for his conversion... I have to get EZMat installed first... LOL I may end up in the software forum again for this before all is said and done!
