I don't have one of those watches that gives you all those statistics, though sometimes I wish I did. As far as my walking, my cardiologist said I'm doing fine when I told him about my power walks, and at my age, walking more than 1 to 1 1/2 miles a day would be overexertion. If I were still in my 40s and 50s, maybe I'd walk more, but I'm long past that now.

Besides, that was just the power walk, I do walk a bit every time I go out to run errands, so if I added all that up as well, I'm sure there would be another 1/2 mile.
Well I don't really know your age Miss B as it is not polite to ask that question , but you give me some idea .. however I would never guess by myself as you sounds like you are very young at heart in your conversations ..
Yes, I just checked, and Monday's weather no longer says rain, and sunny in the afternoon, so that's good. :D
Good to hear it was not just my app

Thanks for the compliment. :)

I use my Fitbit statistics when I get to my doctor , he know exactly what is going on as it monitoring everything from BMI to Cardio Fitness and Resting Heart Rate, it is also very helpful to control your exercise level and intensity to not give yourself a heart attack lol, I use it for couple years now, I know exactly when to cut on salt ..so to speak and when to have a break , the best money I ever spent on a watch , and I am not really a watch person , I barely check the time but more my Cardio statistics every morning so I know when to cut on the salt lol
My personal trainer at the gym has a BMI, so we do that about once a month, when I take measurements at home before going to the gym. It's his way of keeping a record of how my fitness is doing. I've especially been at it the past 3 years because my internist told me she wanted me to lose 20 lbs, but not more than 10 lbs a year.

Considering I'm no longer in my 20s (the last time I lost a lot of weight), I was surprised that I kept losing some more weight during a third year, considering my metabolism isn't as fast as it was back then. Then again, last year was a weird year for everyone, so I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised. I haven't lost any weight this year, so I think I've hit a weight where I'll, hopefully, be able to stay at for a while.

Glad I could help!

Google Maps Measure Distance is easier than trying to drive a route to get the distance, given that walking routes and driving routes aren't always exactly the same. And, it's far more economical than buying a Fitbit watch or one of the alternatives.
Thanks, I've already made a note, as there are other routes I've taken now and then, so I'll be able to check those distances as well. ;)

I never would've thought this was possible, as I usually use MapQuest for finding locations of places I haven't been to before, but I'm sure they don't have this option, so it's good to know where I can access it.

I need to go back into the game harder , I have some pounds to lose from last year as well but my heart is doing excellent and everything else . The working style at this moment don't helps much , I just want to finish as quick I can and focus a little bit on myself again , in meantime little bike in the breaks helping the legs circulations and going for a walk in the mornings once the weather clears up, I love to do that in the early hours , if I do in afternoon I have restless legs all night lol
I love it when I was living in the Long Beach NY , in the front of the boardwalk , every day 5:30 am , we had a nice group of people going every morning together ..

Lovely day here in Victoria...shame we're locked down but I'll probably go for my exercise once they have the daily presser. So cross with Scomo right now Stezza and his failed vaccine rollout. (note: this was in response to Stezza's desktop image with scomo on it.)

Yes, and the sun had come out around 4:00pm, just in time for my daily walk. It was soooo good to get out of the house for more than just running an errand. :)

Weather today is beautiful especially considering it is the second day of our winter. Despite the beautiful weather I'm feeling a bit down as it looks like our lockdown may continue for at least another week. One positive is my husband and I are booked in for our first covid jab next Tuesday.

I'm due to get my second one next Saturday, the 12th, as I got my first one 1 1/2 weeks ago.

Oh and we had a nice day today. Not too hot, with the sun going in and out all day. At least now I won't have to "bundle up" as I have been the past couple of nights.

Did you get the pfizer Miss B? In Australia we're mainly getting Astra Zenaca if you're over 50 which I am. It means I'll have to wait 3 months for the second shot.

Yes, I got the Pfizer, because a number of folks I know who had the Moderna, suffered more with the second shot than they did those who had the Pfizer shots.

I don't think we have the Astra Zenaca one here, at least not in NY. I don't know whether it's available in any other state. I'm surprised you have to wait 3 months for the second shot. I know with the Moderna it's 4 weeks instead of the 3-week wait with Pfizer. I hadn't heard about such a long waiting period between shots anywhere here in the US.

Oh, and I'm waaaay over 50. ;)

lol...me too Miss B! Way over 50...The US is mainly moderna and pfizer from what I've heard. Unfortunately our govt mucked up and didn't order enough pfizer because they were relying on the Astra Zenaca which we can produce here. So only under 50's can get the pfizer and the rollout over here is a lot slower than in other countries. Our Prime Minister has been too complacent because we've had it under control. Unfortunately with the indian variant there has been a lot more breaches in our hotel quarantine. The current lockdown was caused by someone catching the virus in Hotel quarantine but they didn't show up as positives until after they had been released from quarantine and returned home. Lots of comments about how we really need specialised quarantine facilities(which we do) rather than using Hotel quarantine on social media here.

Given what happened in Victoria last year(mild by comparison to many other countries I know) many people are very anxious at the moment.

I had my two Moderna shots with no issue other than a sore shoulder for a few days after the first shot. I expected side effects after the second but there weren't any for me (I'm almost 62)... my wife is in-between Pfizer shots and had no issue.

Oh, here too. There are folks who are still holding out getting the vaccine. I'm not a vaccine person, but this is not the flu, so I figured I'd better "bite the bullet" and get it. It just took me a long time to get the vaccine I wanted at one of the pharmacies in this neighborhood, because I didn't want to have to travel to get it, especially not knowing what reaction I would have and when it would hit . . . soon after the shot, later that day or possibly the next day. Then I got lucky, and grabbed the appointment I was looking for.

That's good to hear Ken, as I've heard folks I know having a tough time after the second shot, and my personal trainer at the gym sent me a text the other day that he was knocked for a loop after the first Moderna, and felt awful after the second, which he got the other day.

I guess everyone's different, so everyone's reactions are going to be different as well.

Similar age to me Ken! Glad to hear you have some protection against covid.

@Miss B, I could get it today at one of the hubs through walking in, but I prefer to get it through my doctor locally for similar reasons.

And yes we do have anti vaxxers here. And silly people protesting the lockdown...I cannot work out though why they have American flags at some of these rallies.

Astra Zeneca hasn't yet been approved in the US. As of last month, Astra Zeneca hadn't yet gathered all the data they needed to be able to apply to the FDA for emergency approval. So, in the US, it's ‎Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson.

I also prefer to get the vaccine through my doctor. I'm not comfortable getting the vaccine because of reactions to penicillin. I prefer to get the vaccine at my doctor's office where they are aware of my medical history rather than a pharmacy or clinic. The last time I spoke to my doctor about it, he wasn't sure when the vaccine would be available to them. Hopefully, that will change soon now that the vaccine has been approved for 12 and older.

Pen I am in Canada. I got the AZ vaccine first dose back in early March. Like you it was for those 55 and older. I am most definately older. Second shot scheduled at 4 months. I was not given a secure second dose appointment as there is no secure supply of the drug. Now there is all kinds of mis/dis information as to when, or even if; second doses will be available. Don't call us. We'll call you. The mass vaccination clinics clinics here are giving Phizer so that lets me out. Not that I would have any intention of standing around with thousands of others in a mob scene outside a convention center or sports complex.

As to the anti-vaxers; I too am confused as to why so many are waving American flags and yelling about "amendment rights." Social media I guess. I wouldn't know. Don't subscribe to any social media other than here, Rendo. and one or two other graphic sites.

On the bright side; it actually is. Lovely and sunny with a high of aorund 18 to 20 c here by the lake.
