Ah, I get your confusion. First before texturing yiu have to make sure you have the photos set on sRGB. You can do that this way in photoshop: Edit - convert to profile and choose sRGB...

If you have a complete texture set, you want to save check the checkmark ICC profile: sRgb

I think this is already set to sRGB

I have shot an African American female photo reference and used a different color profile, namely hasselbach, so I have to convert it later to sRGB. As you can see there are so many profiles. Don't forget to save the textures as ICC profile: srgb.

You need to change your colour settings - Shift+Ctrl+K
(yours might look a bit different as I'm currently using CS5 not sure if other versions are different). Just open PS, change the settings and restart it and hopefully it will keep it :)

It will still only have "RGB" listed in Image Mode etc but will use whatever the Working Spaces are in the "Color Settings" dialogue box.

EDIT: sorry I posted that after your settings Rich, I was typing and screenshoting and sent it before checking if others had responded :p

Cs5 extended is my favorite phoshop version. Works fast and like a dream.
Wish I could afford it...I'm still on CS3...but I do have a current copy of Painter as it's more reasonably priced. Still working out how to use it as it functions differently with some of the brushes.

I gave up on Photoshop years ago, as it was way too expensive back then. Nowadays, I'm more of a GIMP man. Was making some posts on using GIMP and Photoshop features at Renderosity, but seems I incurred some wrath, so I stopped.

I would like to know more about GIMP from actual users. How like PhotoShop is it? I got pretty good working with the app and was really pissed when my old computer died outdating my whole VERY EXPENSIVE Adobe CS Suite I got for it and found I was unable to migrate it to a newer computer. TO make mattters worse Adobe swtiching to amontly cloud rnted usage option being the only way to use it going forward I just gave up on adobe. Now I need to find replacement for PhotoShop and Illustrator which I also used A LOT!

Gimp actually can do many of the things that Photoshop is able to do. And there are many YouTube videos that can show you how to do it. Is there something specific you want to know about?

For Illustrator you want the free InkScape. I think if you are used to those programs (Ai and Ps) that you will be happy with Gimp and InkScape.
