Hey Terre...yep, I'm getting schooled on a better way to do poses...paid off, with the Andy 2 poses, he stays exactly where I worked on him :)

So we had one set of pipes freeze in our apartment, thankfully nothing burst. Low point overnight reached -17, and it was -23 with windchill. Upstairs apartment in the rear of the building did fine, but our tenant in the front upstairs apartment turned the heat off.... my Bear was NOT happy today. We have to replace the pipes.; ALL of them froze, and quite a few of them burst. And there's only so much we can do about recouping the cost of that because that tenant is his brother. To put it in perspective, my Bear insisted the heat be turned up to 72 in the house and left there all night... and inside the house never got above 50 degrees. o_O

I have coffee now. I'm semi-human. LOL
Eep! I wouldn't do well in that climate at all! my sympathies on the burst pipes.

ike what did the guy think would happen...geez.

That's just it. He doesn't think. All he was thinking is, he's not home much, so turn it off because he won't be there to use it... no concept of "hey, it's winter and cold temps = pipe burst"

Eep! I wouldn't do well in that climate at all! my sympathies on the burst pipes.

We're kind of used to the temps here. Just not quite to the extreme we've had. The Adirondacks reached -40 windchill temps overnight! THAT is a deadly windchill cold... hypothermia will set in within five minutes if you're exposed to it. LOL

And when you're older and on blood pressure meds, you tend to get cold even faster....extremities especially. For some reason I'm starting with a shoulder thing, never in my life have felt cold in the joints so much, but my right shoulder is like a barometer these days...haha. So five minutes in -40 wind chill, it would take a crowbar to get me moving again...haha :)

True, and I'm on an aspirin regime, which thins the blood, so not good for long stays out in that kind of weather.

I decided to start with the Mil Horse....nothing to "uncheck" for now...no fingers, or expressions. So far so good, once I found the parameters box. Hang it up trying to use that universal manipulator...it's all over the place, about as precise as buckshot...haha.

Yeah, don't waste time with the manipulators. There is one for scale, one for translation, and one for rotation. They are okay for small stuff, but mostly I find using the parameter dials is best.

Yes. I'm also anemic enough that I get IV iron once a week. My body temp runs below average and always has - if I'm reading at 98, that's already a fever for me - but with the anemia, it means I'm often dressed in layers no matter the season because anemia will make you cold as well.

Yep, know that story too...I have to be on very low protein now, so some days the energy level can be low, and I've been anemic, especially during the past year. But I'm hanging in here :)

Yes, things like blood thinners and anemia sure don't help.

But I still like the cold. :) I prefer the mountain winters... I just layer up if I'm cold. LOL

Oh, I use to love getting out in the snow...always made a snowman. Regretted not trying something like snow sculpture.

Hey, I've just made my first DS horse pose, and I think it was a success. It's attached to this post if somebody wants to test it :)

What is the proper file tree for saving for distribution? Like with Poser, it's RUNTIME - LIBRARIES - POSE - SKYLAB POSES - MIL HORSE . Is there a proper format for DS?

I was borderline anemic as a young child, and took a medicine my pediatrician recommended. Then when I was of school age, we switched to Vitamins + Iron, which I took until my late 20s when my blood count was up high enough to not make it necessary any more. In fact, when I was in my 50s, I was donating blood twice a year at the Red Cross center near my office, and once a year when they came to our office for a day.

Of course, in the years since I retired and stopped eating a lot of red meat like I used to, it's gone lower than what they require for donation, but it's still OK, so I'm not worried.

For Harry, I believe the proper file tree would look like this :

Animals/HiveWire3D Horse/Poses/Your Folder Here/Filename.duf

Likewise, for Dawn and Dusk, the trees go like this :

People/Dawn/Poses/Your Folder/Filename.duf
People/Dusk/Poses/Your Folder/Filename.duf
People/BabyLuna/Poses/Your Folder/Filename.duf

I have Nataani's poses set up with this kind of a file tree :

People/Dusk/Poses/Childe of Fyre/Nataani Poses/Filenames.duf
Animals/Hivewire3D Horse/Poses/Childe of Fyre/ Nataani Horse Poses/Filenames.duf

Yeah. I've been anemic off and on for most of my life. When I was carrying my daughter, the anemia really went nuts, and then it finally settled out a few years ago. And then for the last year, I've been very, very anemic. To the point where my skin will rip and tear sometimes just from putting clothes on or off, and I have gotten bruises on my hands simply from exchanging a handshake.

We've done the iron supplements, altering the diet, all sorts of things, and nothing really seems to affect it enough, so now I've got a PICC line in my arm and they're doing IV iron doses once a week, with the potential to move up to twice weekly if there is not a significant improvement. My normal body temperature ranges around 96-97 degrees as well, most likely a result of the chronic anemic state that I've been in for so long. They haven't been able to figure out exactly what's causing it yet... have ruled out all the usual culprits, and I don't tolerate the OTC iron supplements at all, so the IV was the only other thing they could think of to do.

Oh, gosh, Skylab. I need to apologize to you. I forgot, when I wrote out the tut on saving poses, that our HW horse works a little differently... I am so sorry!!

With Harry, we HAVE to save the posing morphs. Example, if you've used any of Harry's morphs to fold his mane over the side of his neck... when you save Harry's pose, all of that information has to be saved with it, otherwise the pose will not function.

When I go to save a Harry pose, the ONLY things I leave un-checked for him are the Full Body Translations...

upload_2016-2-14_21-47-31.png

I have found with Harry, that if I don't save his pose this way, then the file will not work.

Likewise, if you do any positioning of Harry's mane by the segments and using the trans/rotate dials instead of or IN ADDITION TO his posing morphs, then you will need to save a separate pose for JUST the mane, and the end user has to apply Harry's pose, AND the Mane pose to get the same position...

Same is true if you have used any of the individual segments to pose Harry's tail, or used the segments in ADDITION TO the posing morphs... then you will have to save a Tail-only pose.

I am so sorry! I totally forgot that Harry works a little differently when I laid out the pose tut... as a result, the pose you put up above for Harry only turns his head slightly.

It's okay...because it's for the Mil Horse, not Harry :) I knew Harry would be too much of a challenge for me, with the mane and all. I was looking for something relatively easy for a first project. And, here it is...

MIL HORSE - DS4 POSES 1

MH - TURN.jpg

I deliberately saved the translation information this time, to see if I could get the Mil Horse to land in the right place on the screen, instead of heading off into the wild blue yonder...haha.
