Official Announcement: DAZ terminates agreement to publish HiveWire 3D animals!

They just closed the thread over at Daz. The mod sited "site-bashing" as the reason... (Well, he said, "site-bahing" but I'm pretty sure the lack of an "s" was a typo...)
Yup, there were some folks bashing DAZ for their immature behavior. So I guess it's valid. They deserved every word they read for this, totally inexcusable.

PS.. Welcome to the Hive! :)

So there wasn't any special change needed for this transfer?
Welcome to the Hive.... from my understanding from talking with Paul Lessard he rigs in DAZ Studio first so there should be a perfect product for DAZ Studio for ANY of the animals created here at the Hive so no worries! :)

Isn't it totally amazing a figure created in DS with all the bells and whistles of Genesis ... can actually work natively in Poser. Extremely well even.

I am so thankful for HiveWire and for the vision of Chris, Lisa, Paul, and Alisa. They turned a miserable situation around after DAZ abandoned Poser and made us Happy Clams once again.

That is ... if clams actually ever use Poser. That's something McGyver would probably know.

I must say I'm not really surprised... a leopard (NO offence to OUR leopard, who...giggle - can change his spots;) ) does not change it's spots, and certain parties just are who they are.... IMHO I'm glad the animals will stay HOME with their rightful names...and the main thing (IMHO) HiveWire needs to make it's store more profitable are more RIGGERS to take the pressure off of Paul... and yes texture artists.... but I do remember a certain elephant with a wonderful texture that just needs rigging? Hint hint....

Anyway, yes, riggers and texture artists need to be paid, but I keep hoping that talented people of the same mind set as the loving generous owners/workers of the Hive will semi-volunteer their help/talents....

Sending warmth, and love to you all at Hive.... (oh and yes, maybe a broader audience can be had by releasing your new animals AFTER the main introduction period at the Hive store first, by having them at Renderosity?)

REALLY all this is only MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION, so please take it as such, given with the great affection I have for you all here.

So that's what happened! I was curious about that, I know a few people over at the forums there had wondered too. Unbelievable.

I'm sorry to hear the news, but this is exactly what happened to me.

DAZ said they wanted to sell all my products, we signed an agreement, and then they cancelled the agreement because of "negative comments" that they claimed I made. They didn't say what comments I made, where they saw the comments, or what made them so upset that they cancelled the agreement.
But most of all, they never offered to talk to me about these "comments" and resolve any issues like adults so we could both continue to make money. If we assume that DAZ keeps 50% of the product sale, then if I was making thousands of dollars in sales then DAZ is also making thousands of dollars in sales. Yet they're willing to cut off that income and terminate a signed agreement rather than talk things over.

I created an account just now because I want to say I'm sorry you put so much work into the venture, only to have it terminated so abruptly. I'm sure things will work out for you and you'll find new support from people who got to experience your cats from that site.

Daz stopped the agreement and are moving on- which I think is beneficial for both of you. If Daz wasn't happy, and you have to meet all their expectations on communication or worry constantly about what you're saying- that would get tedious very quickly. So this is for the best.

I was happy to see your critters make the move, and want to thank you for at least attempting to form a working partnership with Daz. You have a spirit of adventure and it will serve you well, and now you can continue to operate in YOUR own style. You're good at it! So hang in there.

Me too. Remember when the forum used to be a fun place? Like a home away from home? Now I'm surprised I haven't yet copped a ban from there - I don't think I'm out and out blasting them, but I'm certainly quite...negative, shall we say... often when I post. Although I did recently say something about their policies re metadata/smart content that I'm wondering if will get me in trouble. *grin* My purchases have dropped dramatically - partly due to reduced financial circumstances (totally brooooooke, dear!), and partly because I'm not in the slightest interested in the "gosh darn gee willikers, brand shiny new figure that no-one wanted!". Like you, HDRs, utilities and some environments are my main look out now.

Welcome dear Jaki. I used to spend inordinate amounts of time on the DAZ forums and bought ALLOT of what they were selling but now I just stopped trying to keep up with all the sales and every time you look out the window and then back to the store there is a new "figure" based on the Genesis of that moment. Got expensive and the politics got really old so now I buy mostly tools, HDR sets and other bits that I think will be useful for my needs. While Dusk and Dawn are done differently they are great figures to work with. They are also part of the push to bring the DS and Poser communities back together since DAZ is hell bent on making sure that's doesn't happen and that's just another reason I am so disappointed in their current direction internally. They are like a monopoly and it's divisive and I don't like that.

Freebies tend to be "grab and run" products without even a stop to see what else a vendor might have made available
A substantial percentage of DAZ's freebies are accessories to content you need to own to be useful, e.g. textures for clothing items. That's a loss leader and I've purchased clothing items because of it.

Speculation is pointless but since we're throwing gasoline on a fire anyway, my guess is that the dealbreaker was Chris mentioning his pseudo-pseudonymous vendor name here; as he said, the point of that requirement was to discourage DAZ customer interest in this site.

Unfortunately no one thought to ask Google.

As usual I only pretend to know what I'm talking about so take it with a grain of salt.

I tend to call RAMWolff/Rich "Cutie" in my head. *grin* I don't dare say it aloud to him tho.

LOL, Dawn...

That is completely understandable. Richard aka RAMWolff has a bunch of nicknames ;)

I usually call him Wolffie

She's (I suspect) the "Touchable" Wolfie ;)

That's one of the many wonderful things about HiveWire.

It's a shame when a site (or a government) shuts down discussion just because it's uncomfortable for them or it doesn't reflect the image they are trying to promote. Of course, shutting down discussions tends to do far more damage to that image than allowing the discussion to run its course. Eventually, we do get tired of a discussion and move on to something far more interesting.

In addition, there is SO much to LEARN from such discussions and opposing points of view. Sometimes emotions can run high which is something I think we all expect to a degree as we are each invested in what we do here with a "love" that by its very nature carries emotion with it. It's a natural thing to be angry and strike out in anger. Every one does it when they feel there is an injustice. It also can be a prelude to solutions as we come to understand the bigger picture from a side other than our own.

Well put Lisa, it is human nature to strike back when we feel some thing that is important to us is being damaged in what ever form that takes. And 9 times put of 10 once you have done so you can then take a breath and start working through the whys and wherefores that caused the reaction in the first place and find a point of understanding and resolution.

That is if all parties are acting like grown up professional human beings.........

You probably will, Miss B :D I actually thought of you a while back and wondered why I hadn't seen you around the usual traps - took a while to occur to me you were here. LOL.

I just got up to go to brush my teeth and as I looked in the mirror, I realized I am wearing purple slipper socks, purple track pants, and a long sleeved purple top. I'm like a giant Purple People Eater! Didn't even occur to me when I was getting dressed. :p
We'd love to see more of you here Jaki. ;)

Novica, welcome, and what a lovely post!

Lisa, well said

LOL! The HW3D was for their customers, so I doubt our mentioning here was an issue - as folks here already know who we are ;). After all, our product pages for the animals sold there were linking directly to the HW3D product at DAZ . Of course, a thread popped up in their forum giving things away, but many people go to their store and just buy products, without ever seeing the forums. I can understand from their way of operating that they don't want people going anywhere else. It's why they no longer allow (they used to way back when...) links to other sites in their forum (I think we're the only store that does, actually), and why they don't sell product add-ons for anything not sold at DAZ. Where we link on our product pages to any products sold elsewhere that are required for our products.

I tend to call RAMWolff/Rich "Cutie" in my head. *grin* I don't dare say it aloud to him tho.

Nah, this is Wolffie we are talking about -go for it - he LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES it!!

Oh, you'd fit right in around my part of the world right now - a few weekends ago was our annual Lavender Festival and the whole town is purple!

Nobody that I know of wanted their "DAZ Conmect" and the encryption that tagged alone with it; it's no wonder folks are unhappy when DAZ spends money on that and ignores Babies and Toddlers. The only good thing since that happened has been the less beautiful G8F, even though folks are griping about that.
