Oh Pen, so am I! I had got ready for it but I'm so glad to see it slide away to the east. Hoorah! I even managed to make a trip ashore today that I was convinced was going to be impossible. Mother Nature did not have any plans for me today ;-)

I'm being good and sitting at the computer still...I think I'm probably overdue some panadol (which I will take) but I'm going to ease into work gently. Talking to one of the AP's this morning she said to ease in and not rush things so that's what I'm going to do. Bad time of year to have time off though as we do a whole heap of testing which has deadlines...

They sound like they know it's better to wait for you to be properly well than you end up in bed again. That's really good employers.

Some of the AP's are lovely...the one I spoke to this morning is my favourite. She was acting Principal for 6 months last year and she was just wonderful.

Did you see the video on the cliff collapsing in Christchurch this morning? I saw it before I went to work. Also saw the swimming pools overflowing due to the quake it all looked pretty freaky...

Poor old Christchurch, it's just not fair. They were just starting to get some equilibrium back and BOOM!, there goes another one. More streets wrecked, more houses cracked and one place getting the entire contents of the swimming pool through the house. No wonder so many are packing up and leaving.

Yeah...it was another one Seliah. Poor Christchurch...not as much large permanent damage this time apart from the cliff but still would have been quite shocking for the people living there. No deaths this time...

The big one in 2011 was just awful. It basically broke Christchurch and it's taking a really long time to recover...a lot of it never will. They didn't need another one, that's for sure.

No, no they didn't... but IIRC the one from back then was over the 6.0M mark, was it not?

Yes, the 2011 quake was 6.3, yesterday's was 5.7

Hmmmmmm are you sure? I know someone who lived in Nevada that have a couple, though not sure how they survived in that heat. Of course that was many years ago, so don't know if they still have them.

OK, corrected correction: Southern hemisphere in the wild. In zoos they will be wherever they've been transported.
They deal with the heat pretty well because the are given plenty of water and probably have a lot thinner layer of fat under their skin than they would in the wild.
