Wow. Unfortunately that's the other end of Kansas ( in-laws are in Lawrence), but who knows, maybe a road trip this summer. It's about 8 hours from us in Texas.

That render looks amazing.
Using "All About Birds", Cornell Lab's great website, you can search for a bird found in the US and then select the Range map (and sightings tab) and see where all the most recent sightings have been. While I picked where the greatest concentration of both birds are, you may not have to go that far. It looks like there's opportunities to the Greater just a little west of Topeka off of I70
Since I'm getting relatively close to finishing the base version (Firefly) on my next set, I thought I'd share a couple promos images. I'm guessing "Trogons" will be in store around the start of August.

While my Trogons finishing up their sale period at the Renderosity store and my Barbets are in beta testing, I've steadily been at work on a long promised bird species... Hornbills. They've been on my to-do list for about 15 years. The stalling point has been the extreme differences in casque (horn) sizes and shapes. Taking everything I've learned over the years, I think I've finally resolved the issues... Here's a peak at my morph progress on two difference species of Hornbill. This will probably be an early October release.
Here's another... the Helmeted Hornbill... this one showing the first of my throat sac morphs

Here's a WIP on my Abyssinian Ground-hornbill... it's my first pass on applying a texture-- there's still a ways to go (still needs bump/displacement and diffuse clean-up) but it's looking pretty good...
About 1/2 way done with my Hornbill set now...

I'm switching gears to finish out the year and will be doing more items to fill out my Nature's wonders catalog. It's well overtime that I continued with my frog sets which hasn't seen an addition since I did "Toads", so I've been working on "Bullfrogs". Bullfrogs are simply larger frogs who are usually aggressive. I've made the most common bullfrog, the American, which is found in North America and has been introduced throughout Eurasia. It is an invasive species and generally where "frogs legs" come from. I've also included the Goliath Bullfrog-- the biggest frog in the world-- measuring 14" from rump to snout and easily able to leap over 10'. The image below will give you an idea of the sizing of the frogs with the smallest being about 2.5" or 50 mm (snout to rump). I'm guessing a late October/early November release for this set.
I'll finish out the year with another amphibian related set, "Salamanders & Newts".

First, thank-you for supporting my product lines
...for more hornbills? Probably, but not for a while... sadly hornbills hasn't done well at the store (which sort of surprises me). Marketability has never affected my decisions in creating sets-- I do them because I want them in my runtime-- so yes, there will eventually be more. As I stated above, I want to give my Nature's Wonders line a little love since my last 4 sets have been for Songbird ReMix... so more frogs, plus salamanders and newts.
Here's a couple Eastern Banjo (Bull)frogs from Australia, plus my Australian Tiger (dragonfly). Rendered in Iray. I can't begin to tell you how hard it was to pose these frogs because the Ultrascenery river rocks don't show up in preview mode. I painstakingly posed/rendered around a hundred times to get the frogs to rest on the rocks.
