I put the "Pyrate Hat" on this Giant Bullfrog, for the fun of it.

During the tadpole's development, the father guards his young. If the pool is in danger of drying out, the father uses his legs and head to dig a canal from the drying pond to a bigger pond. But although he continues to guard the tadpoles until they are old enough to fend for themselves, he may also eat some of them.

The bullfrog gets its name from the sound the male makes during the breeding season, which sounds similar to a bull bellowing.

Frog Overboard

The Asian Bullfrog is endemic to Southeastern Asia. Its dorsal side has an olive colored section bordered with two dark-lined yellow-to-orange wide stripes extending from the snout to the vent. It is prevalent in the pet trade.

The Malaysian Bullfrog is endemic to Sumatra, Thailand, the Malyasian Peninsula, Sumatra and Java.

It can be identifed by a thin whitish to yellow line that runs from snout to rump down the center of its back.

A Rustling in the Leaves

The Tiger Salamander is one of the largest terrestrial salamanders in North America. It is most commonly found on the Atlantic coast from New York down to Florida, but have been found in smaller populations from coast to coast.

California Gold

The skin of the California Newt tends to be rougher than the skin of salamanders & it produces the potent toxin tetrodotoxin, which is hundreds of times more toxic than cyanide.

It is currently a California Special Concern species due to the introduction of non-native, invasive species and human habitation.

Hunting Through The Moss

The Fire Salamander prefers deciduous forests in central Europe since they like to hide in fallen leaves and around mossy tree trunks.

Their bright coloration is highly conspicuous and acts to deter predators by honestly signaling their toxicity.

The Common Mudpuppy lives an entirely aquatic lifestyle in parts of the Great Lakes region and surrounding states in lakes, rivers, and ponds. Its external gills resemble ostrich plumes and their size depends on the oxygen levels present in the water.
