But that's pretty much the case with anything that accesses the internet anymore.
Facebook tracks everything you do online and sells some of that info. Worse, their privacy practices change so it's impossible to know if your privacy settings are actually doing what you think they do. Then you have the third party apps and games on Facebook, which are less transparent even than Facebook. Twitter tracks your activity online. Pandora tracks your personal data ... and shares it. Skype has been accused of both releasing your personal data and of eavesdropping on your calls. They store IMs, voicemail messages, and video messages for up to 90 days. Dropbox has access to the personal files you store ... as do all other big cloud services. Amazon has a wealth of private information they collect from us and claim not to share it, but reserves the right to do so, and has been sued for sharing the information they collect. Google is rather upfront with the fact they collect every bit of personal information and share a lot of that information with others. Not really any different than Microsoft and Windows 10. Apple has just as much access to your personal information as Microsoft, but is far less transparent. How Apple manages to avoid the ire that Microsoft so easily collects always amazes me. Apple is just a different way of spelling Microsoft.
Don't forget all the sites we visit during a day online. Many of them are far less transparent about what they are collecting and sharing ... and yeah. They have access to quite a bit of personal information.
Oh, and did we mention our internet providers? Or the government? Difference between governments and big business is that big business spies on us so they can make money off us while governments spy on us because we are all terrorists in hiding. Ok ... maybe that's a bit of my personal paranoia showing
Fortunately, I lead a rather boring life, so I doubt anyone is all that titillated over my activities, but I sure don't kid myself that any number of 3 letter agencies has easy access to every bit of my life and personal information.
So, while I may not upgrade to Windows 10 (because 7 Pro ain't broke), I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep when it comes time to buy a new computer and my only choice will be Windows 10.
