If you're mirroring in Blender, just use the Mirror modifier. It doesn't flip the normals. It has always worked fine, since 2.4x days. You should never model both sides of something symmetrical. Even if you want it add a little asymmetry, you should model the symmetrical version first, then apply the mirror modifiers and add asymmetry as a last step. If you're using Blender and you're modeling clothes, you should almost always have a mirror and subsurf modifier on your mesh.

The mirror modifer has options for UV maps. If you're making shoes, you can just give them the same map, and maybe apply the mirror modifier and give the shoes their own materials with the same UV maps. If you're modeling half a shirt, skirt, etc., you can make your UV map as straight in the middle as the mesh and set the modifier to mirror UVs along the x. Or, if you don't mind a center seam (like, say, with pants) you can mirror the UVs without the central alignment. And if you mirror along y as well (say for a skirt or something else), you can set your UVs to mirror along Y as well. But then you have to keep your islands to one quarter of your map.

If you're mirroring in Poser, Dimension3D has a tool for that.

I googled around and found this,
Pose to hide body part

"1 Select the parts you want hidden in the scene tab, then toggle visibility off in the parameters tab.
2 Save As>Properties Preset: you want to uncheck the box for the first three tabs on top, then go to the fourth tab and check the box. Click the button on the right and navigate to Uncheck All. Then click it again and navigate to Check All Modified Only. Then save."

It didn't work for me on creating a hide foot pose. I don't think I really need one but is standard operating procedure to include a hide foot pose with your product right?
well, I'm done for the night, probally if I turn off the computer and go to bed and try again in the morning it will work for me then

Edit - all I had to do was make parts invisible in the surface tab then save out as a materials preset only selecting the feet and toenails.
