I thought you always had to start with the hip.

Actually I like to rig from the extremities to the hip. This way I can lock out groups as I go, so they do not blend with groups I do not want and I can keep better track of what is done.

Many ways to accomplish the same thing though, so use what works for you.

Not that I've ever come close to being ready to rig before, but I always thought you needed to start at the Hip as well, so this is good information Paul. ;)

Many ways to rig a ... cat?
I always though the hip is the starting point. The things you learn here ... thanks!

So this is good for a laugh- found this pic of a painting I did back when I was about 10- forgot my aunt still had it and found it in a bunch of old pix when I was looking for something else. Our black panther is gonna look a lot better than this:)

Thanks Chris and Zaarin- actually I could draw (animals! not people:) pretty well.. but lol I think this was an early attempt at oils- and I think my last too:) Oils and I didn't see eye to eye. I still am much better at pencil/colored pencil work. Never was a very good painter. I did mainly watercolor and gouache (and a mix of the two) when I did paint, though I did mess with acrylics too. Wasn't very good with acrylics either:) I know somewhere I've got an early watercolor of a jaguar I did. LOL maybe I will see if I can find it for grins.
