When I first started posting the things that I was making, I was a little skeptical that there would be issues and someone would inevitably complain. I mentioned that, and someone told me that it's free, so they can't complain. Well, that to me was not an excuse for doing poor work. I always strive to make sure my models were good quality, even if they are free. I've seen some exceptional freebies that were better quality then something that was paid for. But I've also seen paid items that I couldn't (or is it wouldn't) create.

This is so true. I have a lot of freebies in my runtime that are so well made, well textured and well morphed that they blow a lot of the paid items out of the water. My favourite and formerly go to characters for V4 and M4 were both freebies and when I think how much paid for characters sit lonely and unused it makes my wallet hurt. (Mind you, the only time I use V4 now is when I want a render of one of her long dresses...they are the only things I cannot conform to Dawn and I don't use M4 at all, or any of the Genesis range). I really appreciate when someone puts time and effort into making their freebies work out of the box and I will tell them so.

Actually that's not true...people do sometimes complain. I had one guy who rated something I did poorly so because I wanted to know what was wrong I contacted him. His complaint was that I'd gotten a high rating but had only provided a few morphs and what he felt was an incomplete set. It was clearly indicated on the freebie what was included though...and he couldn't give me a reason other than that.
I've been lucky I've not had many complaints but I do like to follow up if I do so I can improve on the stuff I do.
Cost isn't necessarily an indication of quality. I've picked things up really cheap or free that were fantastic value and also bought stuff that was expensive but not as well made or thought out. I don't normally return stuff unless there is a major issue though but I do take note of which vendors do what.

I was told that they couldn't complain, not that they wouldn't. I've been lucky, I guess. I have had hundreds of downloads of my stuff and not a single person ever complained. Not that they never found a mistake. Just that no one ever brought it to my attention.
