Yes...but she probably isn't up yet. IIRC she is two hours ahead of me and it's 7am here so it's probably about there.

What? People keep normal hours?!?

I'm awake when I should be asleep and asleep when I should be awake
Normal hours? What's that? On the days I work I need to be there at either 5am or 6am. My hubby has tinnitus cause insomnia so although he mostly sleeps while I'm at work he simply crashes when he's sleepy.

I don't know why, but I always thought you Aussies (at least on the East Coast) were 20 hours ahead of me on the East Coast USA, but if I just calculated correctly, you're only about 17 hours ahead, which would make Lorraine only 15 hours ahead. Hmmmmmm . . . . .

When I worked out how far ahead I was from Utah iirc it worked out at about 18 hours. Lorraine is ahead of me I thought...maybe I've gotten it backwards and it's two hours behind.

Nope...I was right.

Current local time in Auckland, New Zealand

The current time here is 8.13 and the time in NZ was 10.13

And ... 26 minutes ago (which is when you posed), it was 4:13 pm in Philadelphia (as well as elsewhere on the East Coast).

Afternoon all! It's just after noon in Opua and all is well :) I had a brill sleep and woke to a quiet world instead of cars, and jackhammers, and diggers and cranes. All I can hear is the sound of cicadas in the surrounding bush. And rain. Yes, my return to the boat may be delayed, not sure yet. Dave and Carole have extended an invitation to stay here and I will keep an eye on the weather and make a decision later today.

Okay...my brain is a bit foggy this morning but I'm working that out as 16 hours behind us...

Good to hear that you got home safely Lorraine...look after yourself...I imagine it would be a bit tricky doing the return if it's raining.

Yay Lorraine. Quiet is sooo good!

Though, I imagine the cicadas can be rather annoying. As it gets hotter here in the summer, the tree crickets drive me insane! The hotter it is, the louder and faster their "buzzing." As if they really need to attract females ;)

Yes, super sexy cicadas in mass singing can be really loud...they are the loudest insect on the planet and they are right outside my window ;) Rather have them than a jackhammer!

So,

I'm home, home on the boat,
So pleased to see she's afloat,
There's unpacking to do,
And making bed too,
I don't care cos I'm home on my booooaaaat!!!!

Apologies to whomsoever wrote Home on the Range :) The weather cleared up, two trips of car and dinghy and I sit in my lazyboy, surrounded by bags and bits of computer, wholly content.

YAY!!! You made it home in one piece. :D
More Yays!!!!!!

As far as tree crickets go.... We had a dozen chickens in our backyard for over 15 years. They ate all the damn noisemakers and the hatchlings that came up from the ground. Every time a bug would come into our yard thinking it was a good place to colonize it got gobbled. It's been several years now and still no new population. Eventually this will come to an end but right now I'm still enjoying not walking into a wall of sound when I go near the big pine in our front yard.
