The Anchorage, Part 3

Lorraine

The Wicked Witch of the North
Morning all :) Woke to heavy rain and a strong northerly this morning and now it's fined up and it's hot and humid. I have a huge pile of unpacking to put away, some tidying to do and then it's playtime on the puter! Love being able to say that after all this time. There has been a hiccup in the UPS; it won't run off the generator, has to come off the inverter which puts a strain on the batteries...much knashing of teeth. I may need to get a bigger battery charger...we'll see. Anyway, I can use the computer but not for as long as I'd like.

Have a swell day/night :inverted:

I wish all we had was heavy rain, but this afternoon it started snowing. Last time I looked out the window it was only a light dusting . . . something like someone sprinkling confectioner's sugar on a donut. Hopefully it didn't get worse. :(

So that's where my snow went to! You can send it back my way anytime! I love my snow. Yes, even after it turns to muddy slush and ice. :D

If I didn't have to go out in it when it turns to slush and ice, I wouldn't mind it. I do like seeing things all white and pristine. It's after a day or two, when it's not looking so pristine any more, that I wish it had never happened.

Oooo, glad I don't have to deal with snow! Rain, hail and wind is all I have...plus the odd tsunami ;)

Snow would be pretty but would get old really quick...it's hot here!

Sorry to hear that ups is still not working as effectively as you would like Lorraine...

Just think of what you can buy with what you get for it Lorraine...but it is frustrating when that happens.

Yes, Seliah, they are more trouble than they're worth. But someone will be happy with it.

Mmmm, money! Spendy, spendy. But I'll probably do something sensible for the boat...maybe ;)

Hmmm...it will be interesting to hear what happens next. I hope you get a good price for it...

They are such big suckers...I'm sure your chickens enjoyed the meal!
The chickens loved them. Unfortunately we don't have chickens anymore. I forgot to renew our license and the city regs changed during that time. We could still have a flock if I hadn't goofed because we would be grandfathered in.

Same here. I was hoping it would work out.

The roofer who has won the Clovis paper's annual vote for "Best of" the most times is supposed to be here late this morning to look at the roof and give me estimates. We'll see what happens. I figured customer satisfaction might be a good way to pick since I really don't know what I'm doing here.

Yay! Roofer was just here.
We will be getting a koko brown metal roof in around three or four weeks. All of the roofers in the area are quite busy and there isn't enough damage to warrant moving our job up in the job que. The upgrade will be less expensive than we thought it might be.

Yay! That is super news, Terre!

A glorious day in Opua after yesterday's gale. All the hatches, ports and doors are open to the lovely warm breeze which is gently blowing a month's fustiness out.

Yes, I was hoping the UPS would work too...actually, I never considered for a moment it wouldn't. The one I got requires pure sinewave or shore power to run and my gennie is modified sinewave. I sure will be grilling the shop if I get another one. But at this stage, it seems I don't need it but winter and less sunshine might be the killer. But that's months away and I'm not going to worry about it till then.

Yep, Terre, plenty of time and I've just put this one on my local noticeboard for sale.

Weather is soooo nice, I might go for a swim off the boat :) But it's not overly hot today and not humid like yesterday so I'll probably not get hot and bothered enough to warrant it.
