Worked on this quite a bit but I'm still trying to adjust the emmission settings on the fairy dragon and the mushrooms...
Here's Dawn wearing Mada's flower fairy outfit with Diva dialed in. Still a bit of graininess in the render too...I'm still learning to get the best out of Iray. I need a good tutorial on using the emissive shader and lights in Iray...

I think you have a handle on the emmisives fairly well Pen, I think you'll find the graininess is just from not enough light on Diva. Sometimes making it run longer can help but Iray is alot like the old film days before digital cameras (where you still get noise). Just like film if it was too dark you'd get grain (or had the ISO up too high etc). By the way, I don't see any grain (because my computer sucks, my dark renders always get grain and fireflies so consider yourself lucky :D hehehe)

Thanks Rae but I really don't. It took me ages to get the textures to show I just kept changing things until they did without really knowing what I was doing. I'd like to add a distant light type effect but really don't know how. I'd also like to get the mushrooms with the same light but more color I'm just not sure how to do it. I really want to get a handle on Iray...

Thanks Dreamer, Ken and GG...

I'm pretty sure you can add distant light the same as 3DL. As for the mushies, is it only a texture giving it their colour? (it looks like it as the cap is different from the stem) you could try and add colour or changing the temperature to get different effects (I'd have to look at the mushrooms to see, where are they from? I might have them)

I've played with the temperature and couldn't get what I wanted. The set is Stonemason's Jungle construction set...

I think I might have to take it into Shader Mixer to get what I want.

Have you considered making the wings emmisive as well Pen? She is a fairy so the wings membranes would probably have some magical light coming off of them. The moon that full should be emitting more light as well.

Not the fairy wings no...that's a good idea. I tried to get the moon to emit more light but lost the texture in the process but that is another area I want to play with some more. I'm currently playing ies profiles that I downloaded to see what the different effects I get are.

So I would be careful on making the moon admit too much light. I have TerraLuna an add-on for TerraDome 2 that includes moons that can be used to light the scene. But here's the thing, if you can see the moon in the render, it's going to backlight the scene because the light will be coming from behind the figures and it tends to put them in more shadow. I'm not sure how you do it in DS, but what you want is to have a very low level light, probably infinite. At least that's how I get my night time renders to work in Poser.

I've noticed that GG...in 3delight I'd just add a distant light on a low setting but this is Iray so I'm not really sure how to do it. I think I may need to add a mesh and use it just as a light emitter but it won't be done today as we have a big party for my dad's 87th birthday which is next week.

Thank you everyone! :balloon03: I've been trying to come up with something for the lovely Diva for a while now but once I found the the excellent Dome Prop Set from Lully it practically created itself! :thankyou2:

Cute! That's the K4 Wynter dress? Looks like a decent fit on Diva.

It is indeed Glitterati! I thought I'd have problems with scaling because there was so much poke-through on the base pose but in the end all I had to do was bend Diva's forearms forward 7 degrees to match the cuffs and set sub-division to 1. Drape frames set to 60 (same as the simulation) to show up any problems which might develop but happily for me it all worked first time. That pleased me no end because it's a gorgeous little outfit!
