In my life one of the crappier parts is to be cursed with being smarter than my boss. Thus sometimes it seems I have no respect for them or their decisions based on the fact that my future is in their dumb little hands. One of the worst times being when my boss hit on me. Made worse by the fact that if I were gay I could've done better than him. Why couldn't it have been an Angelie Jolie clone or a Jennifer Beals look a like that was forcing me into sex. I said no, of course and when no reciprocity of turning him down occured, it also occured that he was just dumb as toast, hormone driven and a sheep would've done just as well.

Only four times in memory was a boss not only smarter but also wiser. I prospered as well during those time. Only ONCE was a boss younger and just as smart (Yes rokket, that is saying much). I do remember one special time when I mentioned that we were going through different assignments like we were siafu. He said, "That African ant that wipes everything clean, right?" He then joined me in singing the Siafu Song (Yes that ant is such a badass that it actually has it's own song) and we went back to work. Man, that guy knew everything!

A good boss is a wonderful thing. A bad one...not so much!

I've been lucky enough to have a lot of great bosses, so when a bad one came along, I was able to recognize it right away. You can't change them when they get into that position. They walk around believing their own hype. I just tolerate it because the nice thing about my job is, if I don't like my boss, I wait 120 days and I get another one.

Smarter than the boss (and quite a bit more computer literate). Yup, I'm in that situation too. Fortunately he isn't a morning person so instead of being there in the mornings like all other super market general managers I've known he comes in a noon and works afternoons. The retail systems guys at the warehouse had to jury rig an opening program for the DOS based database (with no instance checking) that we use for the store's pricing too keep it from dying a fourth time on me.

I am smarter than most of my bosses. The one I have right now is perfect: easy going and very intelligent. He likes to teach, and I'm willing to learn new things. He taught me a few things, but I taught him things too. It's a good relationship and the reason I've been here almost 3 years on this ship instead of the required 4 months.

It's always a plus when you have a boss that treats you like an equal, and is willing to listen to, and take into consideration, any suggestions you have.

Okay, head count!

How many have downloaded the story? And who has time to read it?

Thank you all so much again for taking time out of your day for little ol' me!

Nice!

Thanks! I am reworking some plot points for the rewrite, and I am coming up with a new name. Stay tuned...
My own story was just about finished when I thought of that article. Perhaps it would be better to rewrite OUT all the DC heroes that I love so much and make an Astro City with rokket instead. Still coming up with heroes names and new kickass powers.

I would like that, but it would end up being 75% you, 25% me. I have so much going on outside of 3D that I wouldn't be able to play.

Oh I think it would be more like us using the same city or Sister city for whatever battles. I would still base my battles in say "Cosmo City" or "Megopolis" or even Los Angeles but would still reference Marysville. I wouldn't mention Lexcorp but I would mention Forrester Industries. We always need a factory to destroy or wide open spaces to battle if the battle be honorable. An agreement for continuity sake and ease of reference. If we wanted to reference a newspaper we could reference the Marysville Plain Dealer or CCN (Cosmo City News, a global news conglomerate owned by the Murusame Corporation) I once read a story about a crew whose sole job was to clean up the city after battles. They would be on the lower end of the story spectrum but still valuable. Now I was wondering, is John Forrester the richest, most powerful man on Earth or is there another like Yoda once said?

For instance, I was wondering since I don't remember reading it, but is "Green Lightning (Name Tenative) the first hero to ever appear in your world? I always thought it was "John Henry" who rode the rails to break up train robbery's back in the late 1800's but reports vary. See what I mean? (And don't say I'm so old I was there. I missed it by at least 3 or 4 years. I'm too old to remember clearly)

It seems kinda strange. Superman was the first Super-Hero of his kind. Then as he progressed and they reintroduced the heroes of the past, updated them and such, suddenly there was a series of heroes that came before him.

My heroes will just be visiting Earth while on Vacation. They have other fish to fry in their part of their galaxy when the galactic bombardment arrives to wipe out their planet and the agreement of the Queen of the Universe not to attack ends. If it's too weird to comprehend, it's cool. I know you are incredibly busy.

I decided that in the second draft Green Lightning (Name Tentative) will not be the first superhero to appear. I will set up that fact from the very beginning and mention different heroes (by costume, feat, or a vague mention of where they are at) at different times in the story. I will also make mention of the fact that while growing up, most of John's peers wanted to be superheroes, or at least have super powers that they could misuse to their advantage. But John is pragmatic and doesn't want to have powers. He's seen what men with power can do.

We got underway without notice and blew up the amp that powered our internet and email connection. We pulled back in last night and it got fixed.

It's been a rough week...

My sympathies. I hope things go more smoothly soon.
I have a feeling that the only thing that will fix the current situation is getting off this ship and going somewhere else. That will be in November or December. I'll get to go home then.

Well, just stay safe, rokket! I don't want to hear about some dude being captured by pirates. It happens you know. Hmm, you better pick up an UZI the next time you pull into shore. Just to be safe :D

Okay, I dig where John is coming from. On my heroes home planet everyone gets one rejuvenation, basically a second lifetime. It's their right by decree. Yet the leading cause of death is by natural causes due to refusal to rejuvenate. Some people don't want the extra lifetime. By the same token, not everyone wants some powers, especially since you don't really get to choose the powers. They are bestowed to you by birth, cosmic accident, strange discovery or incredible genius. Suppose you get powers you don't really want?

By the way, I'll take the extra lifetime AND a dose of super powers please.

Just something to liven up the thread. Before you became a novelist, you were and always will be an artist. Like everyone else here at the hive.
