The Anchorage, Part 3

What I got is the underarm type. I'm so fine boned I wouldn't be able to do much with the other kind either. I wonder why I could get to old fashioned stuff and you guys can't? Weird.

Not silly at all, Pen! Just curious :)

That's great, Terre, and I do not know why we can't have them down here...stupid is what it is.

The wind has completely dropped away and I am a happy bunny! Will be so nice if I can stick my head outside tomorrow without it blowing off ;)

Where I am, the under arm type are the only ones they issue! The newer ones are treated as being specialty equipment around here.

I had the opposite problem the last time I was on them. They created such deep bruising that I was switched over to the newer forearm crutches out of fear of possible clots related to the brusing. But I also do not have CTS, either, and my wrists are plenty strong. That does make a difference.

I have that trouble too Seliah. But I also have weak wrists (but not CTS thank god) and last time I needed crutches I couldn't find the other type so went with a walking stick (and they are not too expensive so good to keep on hand at home when needed and doesn't take up any space :D)

Gidday! Hope you are all having a swell Thursday/Friday. I got all excited a while ago, I saw sunshine!!!! But it's gone now and the showers are back. But I did get to go outside and have a good look for any damage, only one small corner of the wheelhouse got the sogs which is good. It's warm today too so no fire needed :)

I found the difference in medical equipment around the world to be one more of the fascinating facets of our different countries. Every time we start a conversation about whatever, I learn so much about how others live and as a life long learner and person afflicted with almost pathological curiosity, this pleases me. A day where I learn something new is a very good day indeed. So thank you, my friends :grouphug:

Hey Lorraine. We had a beautiful day here today. It was sunny, cool and very low humidity, so I threw open all the windows, and took a deep breath of fresh air for a change. ;)

Hope you get better soon Terre! Ankle/knee/anything leg problem is the pits. My knee is still recovering from the fall on ice I had during the big snowstorm we had during the winter.

We had a storm come through this week that took down trees and powerlines. So far, PECO has been working two days to remove a tree that fell and took out power lines on a street off my commute. Fortunately, we weren't affected either at work or home, but apparently, there were 66,000 affected by the "brief" thunder and hail storm that moved through the area Wednesday afternoon.

Good news is that I start Fridays off for the summer next week! Woohoo!!!

I used to take Fridays off during the summer too for a few years, but they were all vacation days. With a month's vacation time, I was able to split it up however I wanted, and long weekends were always a plus.

Ouch, Satira, that's a lot of people affected!

Sunshine and warm breezes are so nice, Miss B! Glad you could enjoy them :)

Afternoon all...it's cold here today but so far no rain. Just got home from work and I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend with no school work!

Good morning. :)

Lorraine, I too enjoy learning new things and appreciate these discussions.

I hope everyone's weather is mild today.

My leg is improving already. The less strained muscles and tendons feel quite a bit better. The worse ones are a little better. Going to have to keep reminding myself that I need to keep as much weight off that leg as I can for the next two weeks so the latter have time to actually heal substantially.

Good morning Terre (I'm just about to go to bed so really good evening from here :D).

Glad to hear you leg is doing better, even if its just a little. I think they are the hardest to try and heal as we are constantly using them.

Yes, sticking to the crutches, and keeping weight off the leg is the biggest part of getting it to heal. I'm glad to hear it's doing a little better for you, though. Just remember to treat that leg gently. You want it in good condition when you have to go back to work, otherwise you'll run the risk of re-injuring it. ;)

Good to hear you're leg is making progress in healing. Take it easy, and it'll be 100% before long.

Good Terre!

Yes. I use my vacation days to take Fridays off.

Gosh. I'm so glad this is the last Friday I work for a few months. It took a half hour to get out of the parking garage at work!!!

The rest of the commute wasn't all that much better.
