Haha...normally I like hair on a model, but with his face shape, he was quite attractive without the hair...and to some degree, the hair seems to take over and get all the attention, and I thought his face needed to shine :) I like my little short man who has come to live in my DAZ Studio...again, I know he was a ton of work for Seliah, but what a nice job she's done. You go girl!

He looks good that way, too, Sky. Very different! Love the smile there. ^_^

Have a good sleep, alright? I won't be on much tomorrow or Sunday... married to clergy and all of that. :)

That bit with the activation is another reason why Jim hasn't gotten PP11. A friend who did says he still uses PP2014 for most things and doesn't think 11 was worth it. The latter is also a software engineer who considers SM at fault for linking their product to the MS machine code.

Yanno, I was talking with my Bear about this issue tonight. He's a carpenter... who went to school for IT/computers back when they were pushing my age group to "go into computers, go into I.T. that's where all the jobs are!"....and then when we graduated there were NO jobs of course... his degree has been a worthless piece of paper that's taken him fifteen years to pay off...

Anyway. I was mentioning the issue Sky was having with the activation and PP11... and he pretty much said the same thing. Rolled his eyes and went on a 30 minute rant about idiot software developers and not thinking things through and tanking their software products in the process...

I kind of wish I'd recorded it... the rant might have made Sky feel a little bit vindicated.

LOL. There comes a point where I just smile, nod, and go, "Yes, Dear," when gets on like that. Because after a certain point, he's speaking an alien language that I never learned.

Good morning everyone :) It's errand day so I'm rising and shining early to get my joints moving. Seliah, I'm sure your husband and I could really sing a chorus or two about these types of issues. My job was sort of a medical/IT-type training mix...so it was a front row seat to idiocy gone to seed...haha.

This has been my point lately whenever I'd get on a semi-rant....if 3D software companies tie themselves to the Microsoft sinking ship, they'd better have a plan to swim their way out. All the talk about Poser losing ground...good grief...you let 10 company-purchased licenses expire on $500 software with no effort put forth to make it right, how long before that comes back to bite you. When I read that on RDNA, it put my piddly little problem in perspective, just think how they feel. At this point, I'd say if they don't put forth effort to make it right, it will have an irreparable affect on their reputation. I still love the software, and I'd like to use Poser Pro 11...the lighting alone is worth it, and the adjustable interface...but I can't keep re-purchasing every time Windows throws a hammer in things.

One of the posts in one of those threads did say you could call SM support and explain and they would clear all the licenses for you to use again. The company needs to get that done. It's not an optimal solution at all but it is better than nothing. Hopefully SM will correct this issue with Poser 12 or several folks I know will still stay with PP2014.

I could never talk the heavy IT jargon around folks being trained...they'd be panic striken if I did, and then I'd have to use sock puppets to yank them back on track...haha.

I knew I'd better not call SM yesterday...oh no...have to wait until it's not such a passionate issue. All the afternoon naps in the world couldn't calm that one down...haha.

I'll deal with it this afternoon or tomorrow perhaps...after my trip out today. First, I'm going to try to fix it myself if possible.

The other thing I can do is set my scenes up in Poser Pro 2014 on my workstation, then transfer the files to the bedroom workstation and finish it up in Poser Pro 11, like I did with the Good Shepherd project. It's just a pain, and some things don't transfer well, like stuff from the hair room.

Speaking of the hair room....Seliah...guess what I caught on 50% off....the Look at My Hair plug-in for DS4...yes!...a $50 plug-in for $24.95. I did get excited about that...since messing with hair is one of my favorite things about Poser. So now if I want to do my own do's in DS, I'll be all set :) Somebody out there needs to make a robe to use with DS DynCreator plug-in...maybe the experience I've had in Poser will make dynamics in DS easier for me.

Well, you can, theoretically, convert just about any cloth item to use the DS dynamics with the DynCreator script. The catch is that we cannot distribute, under ANY circumstances any "dynamic" item we've converted via this script - even if it's our own mesh right out of something like Blender. Optitex pretty much has Daz by the sausage and eggs when it comes to this, and it would land us in a LOT of hot water if we tried to distribute anything like that.

But, I could, for instance, take that Bionic Rooster robe, and set it up for use with DS dynamics, for my own use, if I wanted to.

DS dynamics have a very different interface than Poser's... and just an FYI... not nearly as much control (yet) as Poser users have over their cloth sims. But at least we have SOME form of dynamics now, and with that script, a much better ability to use it in our art. :)

Good news. My Poser Pro 11 is functioning again :) Once I changed the settings to display hidden folders, it was there, but you could tell it was a faded item, meaning it had been hidden. So for Windows 7 users:

Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders in order to correct Poser Pro 11 deactivation issues (like when having to do a Windows restore to a previous date):

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
In Advanced settings list, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

Then...

Activation files are in C:\ProgramData\Poser\11 by default. Just delete the folder and restart Poser 11. It will prompt you for activation data.

Message timed out while I was trying to add this part

When Product Registration box appears, Poser 11 serial goes in first Serial Number box, and the serial of the version of Poser you're upgrading from goes in the box for Previous Serial Number. Once the program launches, click on Help, and under Personalize, replace the Serial Number for 11 with the new serial number for Pro 11, and click OK. It will prompt you for the need to restart for activation. After it shuts down, launch Poser 11 again, and splash screen for Poser Pro 11 should appear if activation was successful.

Thanks again to Dragonsegg, Seliah and Miss B for their help...combined, they had the solution to the problem. I cried when I lost PP11 on my workstation, and now I'm crying because I got it back. This sounds silly, but whenever I try to do long projects away from the kitchen area, Jo gets lonely and it takes him awhile to get over it...yesterday he was "standing in the corner" on the opposite side of the tank, facing the corner....that's his version of being depressed. I've read where some goldfish won't eat food given to them by a stranger, they get really attached when it's one on one with the owner, like the arrangement I have here...he's always about a foot and half from my left elbow, and with the workstation diagonally positioned, he can always see my face...but if I work in another room, he'd be by himself a lot. He's perked up today and swimming around normally, responding to my voice with his sorta wiggle dance thing he does. So losing the workstation PP11 was not just about the software, it was about Jo, and also about my time management, since I can get cooking and chores done while stuff renders or sims, or animates. Lifting and relocating stuff is not really possible....so Jo thanks you too with a big ole fishy kiss...haha.
:thankyou:
