Runtime DNA merges with DAZ 3D

Um, perhaps so that more posts that might require removal aren't posted? Maybe they felt that everything necessary had been said and leaving it open would mean having to monitor it as well when it seems they have other things to deal with.

Then why bother posting an explanation to a locked threading the first place?

Come on, Earl, you're smart enough to know exactly why. Between the Songbirds disappearing from the download history of DAZ customers, Chris' evident membership "demotion" at RDNA, and Netherworks' locked thread, the war on Hivewire and their customers has been engaged.

As I said a week ago, I just hope we all stand strong.

And things like this are why I've been avoiding the RDNA forums. This need to create a war and see everything as hostile acts. Sigh.

I'll agree to a point, Traci. Even Chris posted that he didn't want it to seem as if he we making sales pitches to their vendors. Maybe they thought congratulating them was a bridge too far. But then they didn't remove that post. Too obvious I suppose.

To be honest, I could care less what is going on over at RDNA. They made their announcement, I backed up my purchased products and had not been back until this was mentioned today. They made their choice, I made mine and I'm happy to part ways. I feel bad for my friends who are being negatively impacted with upheaval in their lives, but I'm supporting them privately off RDNA.

I can see what Traveler was saying but as they have removed the post that they felt were inappropriate I don't see why the thread needed to be locked. Approaching it from a different view I can well understand why Daz would not want Hivewire3D to get publicity on a forum that they own.

I think it's probably just a matter of not having thought everything through. The main feeling I've gotten behind the merger, is that they never really thought about how to talk to the community about it. The original message didn't 'feel' like RDNA which made many think it was some sort of hostile takeover. Had they said something closer to Littlefox's Facebook post about how they wanted to spend time making art, and not running a site, I think it would have been received differently.

I know I waited for them to post the F.A.Q before I responded, figuring they would answer my concerns there, but the original F.A.Q. was almost entirely about how to merge accounts. In hindsight, they probably should have created a thread for vendors to post whether their products would be moving to DAZ or going elsewhere.

I think this is less about starting wars, and more about not having thought about how to communicate changes. Instead of being prepared for vendors choosing to go elsewhere, they are reacting after the fact.

I've been over to the Runtime forum and they locked the thread where Netherworks announced that he is coming to Hivewire a few days ago. I kind of knew why but Traveler apparently felt the need to explain, which now has me wondering about why they actually locked the thread.

They removed all posts (7 of them) after the one that's still there - I have emails with copies of all but mine, which was the last one - I had answered the one before mine where someone asked about products moved over here being updated, and I said that we hope to be able to and that people should back up their RDNA invoices because those would be needed. I think I also mentioned how to copy the whole page of invoices.

Never even got a notice that they were deleting my posts..mine was just gone the next morning and a few minutes later when I refreshed the other 6 were also gone.

While I didn't like the change I have accepted it, I have deleted all my gallery images and I am happy to leave the forums soon, although I truth there will be little to leave behind. The reason I went back this time is because I had email notifications of the additions to the Netherworks thread. I have a few questions I want answered like which vendors will be moving to Daz and where those that aren't will be going. I am also interested as to where the Poser official threads will go, other than that I am not really that concerned, the decision is made.

....Between the Songbirds disappearing from the download history of DAZ customers...

To be fair to former publisher, it has been almost 3 years since I left there. I think 2-3 years is more than a reasonable time period of continued support for them. Some those product files (owls, penguins, perching places, etc) were very outdated, compared to what Hivewire3D has. On the plus side, for those who are customers here, Hivewire3D will continue to support those purchases made through my former publisher (see here for details).

That is why I felt a little uneasy as I felt the suggestion to make sure they had copies of the RDNA invoices was good advice and something that was of value to RDNA customers, or maybe more accurately ex-RDNA customers. I understand their decision but I would have felt easier if they had gone the extra mile for their customers, after all the customers did not ask for this they had this thrust upon them. Not trying to start a war just stating it does not lay too well with my sense of fair play, but then that is just me.

YUP. I learned a while back to not bother with their forums. Same with the 'Rosity forums. There is always war breaking out at the first sign of having a different path, goal or opinion. I don't deal with immature mud slinging well so I just avoid places that have that kinda stuff going on. No reason why folks have to go down those paths dragging everyone down into it but I guess folks like that like war and arguing. I don't.

I don't disagree, Ken, but I was never told there was a time limit on my purchase history over there. In fact, it was advertised as the exact opposite.

I think what HW is doing for SBRM customers is wonderful. THAT'S a classy example of customer service.

On the flip side of that coin, they took my money, made a promise (files would always be available for download), and then broke it.

Hey,Ken, slightly off topic, but do you have any parakeets, or Canaries at Hivewire?

I'm even sadder about the whole thing given some things that have happened to me on the forums there yesterday and this morning - RDNA was always a site I liked and I've bought a lot of content from them over the years. I had been over there trying to help their customers but I guess that has not been appreciated.

Oddly, I can't find anything about songbirds disappearing from purchase history though I did find some threads about them disappearing off wishlists (as they should if no longer available.)
