Runtime DNA merges with DAZ 3D

I think we're just better off leaving DAZ out of this conversation. As someone said on Renderosity today, it just attracts the "squawkers" instead of the friendly folks here.
I was checking RDNA for more updates and I thought I saw that you were banned from the forums? What happened? D:

Really? I haven't been over there since the day of the announcement. Not a clue. I downloaded my files and deleted RDNA from my bookmarks.

. . . .No, that's entirely the work of the new owners of DAZ. I don't trust them. I really don't.

Still, except for losing RDNA at all, I have seen nothing but good come from this. ... so far. Hivewire's picking up new customers and artists. The forum seems to have found new life from an influx of new members, and I think, judging from reported statements made by Nerd3D, that Poser/SM will sit up and start taking the DAZ threat a little more seriously. Frankly, I'd like to see Hivewire and Poser collaborate on Dawn 2.0 instead of Poser wasting time on coming up with another under-appreciated figure. And no, I'm not talking about making Dawn Poser-only.

Time will tell where things go from here, but evryone should keep their chins up and hope for the best of possible outcomes.

But I've got my eyes on you, DAZ.:ninja:
I'm finding it hard to trust a corporate entity run by businessmen who have absolutely no idea about anything relating to the Poserverse. They're not artists like Chris, and they hadn't spent years in this world-wide community of ours as Dan did, so how they can possibly know what we, the consumers, want is beyond me.

That said, I started using DS when version 2.0 came out, mostly because even though I'm a Brycer, I didn't like the earlier versions. I had just gotten my first nice laptop, and I installed it there while I had Poser 5 on my desktop. I got to like DS, and even upgraded to DS 3 Advanced when it came out. In fact, and I should really keep this to myself but, I was on the DAZ beta teams that worked on DS 3 and DS 4, and I liked the idea of the original Genesis when it came out.

But now-a-days everything is about the bottom line, and I'm not disparaging folks who kept upgrading their DS 4 to the newer versions and Genesis 2 and 3, but I can't get behind DAZ's current practices because legacy versions of DS supported Poser products beautifully, and I still have DS 3 Advanced installed on this laptop, and use it whenever I can, and use DS 4.0 when I'm in the mood to play with Genesis 1. Why can't we all get along? Why does DAZ have to go around with blinders on, because that's what they're doing. If they actually do welcome all the RDNA Poser content creators, and don't bury those products after a short while, I'll be very happy this merger worked.

As of right now, there's no way of knowing what the future is for these great RDNA content creators, but I am going to watch DAZ too, because I really and truly hope this merger does work out. However, only time will tell.

Sorry for the long rant.

Yeah, it looks like this was your last post before you were banned:

DAZ AND RDNA MERGER FAQ (UPDATED) - Page 8

Oh, that's pretty funny. Just another one of those moments when you realize how petty this silliness is.

It's been a trying day here. My daughter works as a vet tech and was mauled by 3 dogs today at work. She's OK, but has severe bites on both arms and is in pretty intense pain tonight.

It makes one realize that pettiness has to take a back seat to LIFE.

Yikes!

Does she need stitches on any of the bites?

My cousin used to volunteer at a pet shelter but one day she was mauled by a pitbull and it messed up her face so bad that she needed multiple facial surgeries to fix the damage. Amazingly the doctor did one hell of a job because you can't tell that parts of her face were degloved and mangled but wow, those types of stories really do put things into perspective.

Woe Traci! Dang, sorry to hear. Yeah, take care of that situation for sure. We wish you and your daughter well with that added challenge.

Heal up!! Take some meds. Her, not you.

Hmmn, now that the horse is out the barn, SM is going to try to catch it. But it will have to run twice as fast as the horse to do so. I truly hope they can.

The thing I always liked about Dawn was the promise of Dawn 2. None of the other contenders made it past 1.2 I think. The HiveWire family is the only one that has a dedicated store, vendors, forums, etc. The gallery software here is excellent and once people start sifting through it they'll have a much better appreciation of what the HW family has to offer.

Thanks, all. She's got some healing to do and she's pretty traumatized, but she'll be OK. Her co-workers were there and helped get the dogs under control before they could do terrible damage, so her injuries aren't severe. Thank goodness. Lots of deep puncture wounds and cat scratches (she was feeding a cat when the dogs got loose from a new employee and attacked the cat) on both arms.

A trip to the ER, some antibiotics, dressings and sleep will help her heal.

Glad to hear that Traci...having been bitten myself in the course of working I understand how scary that can be...even if kids don't have teeth as sharp as dogs.

@Glitterati3D, I hope she recovers quickly!! Those cat scratches can at times be nearly as bad as the dog bites!! I shall send healing wishes her way!!:flower01:

I had to take my Pom mix in to the Vet the other day because of a scuffle with some coyotes, but he will be ok and his rabies shots are current. He just thinks he's a big dog and no one told him he is in a small body! LOL
