Yes. I think if initial anouncement was a bit less sunny (too marketing for small team, too corporate for RDNA) and have a hint "it's too much for us" there would be far less outcry.
Well in year or so we will see what will be.

Autofit is much simplier, so if it's the case, impact on DAZ store shoud be bigger, much more bigger. Plus WW was here for ages, CrossDresser... Don't think we should blame fitting room.I am beginning to look at the fitting room in the Poser pro versions in a different light. It looks as though it did impact on sales and vendors have seen that as a sign that Poser is less popular.
I clearly will not work out for everyone and I think it is true that the RDNA team are set to go thorough a much harder time than we are. I do wish them the best.
I am beginning to look at the fitting room in the Poser pro versions in a different light. It looks as though it did impact on sales and vendors have seen that as a sign that Poser is less popular. A real shame if that is the case. I also think that some vendors supported Dawn when she was first launched and were disappointed with sales and see it now as a done deal. I did not like Dawn when she was launched but the Dawn of today is very different. Also Hivewire have shown that they are in for the long haul and have continued to expand the Hivewire family. If the merger of RDNA means that some vendors will look at Dawn with new eyes, it could turn out to be very positive for both Poser and Daz users that have found a home here.

Glitterati3D, you are exactly right. Not being willing to move forward with new technology can be a problem...and vendors, especially young vendors, can't afford to shoot themselves in the foot by camping out in old ways of doing things...and stay in the ballgame in order to make a living with 3D art.
While this is all true, hornet, there's another factor at play. That is the attitude of not learning new skills (weight mapping) for the HW figures. There are just too many V4 vendor holdovers who want to rig the same way they rigged since forever. They are simply not willing to learn new procedures because they have done the same thing, the same way for 10+ years and their workflow pipeline is set up.
This is not a "slam" on vendors - it's just the facts as they exist.
Look closely at the marketplaces and you'll see how many vendors are still using their V4 pipeline in V4/G2 products. That's because they are still using their existing pipeline - V4 - which converts to G2. They'll stop there and not move up to G3 because it disrupts that pipeline.
Eventually, we all have to move forward and they will too. I have the same attitude about any non-weight mapped figure - I won't touch them anymore. We all have our preferences.

It's possible that many who relied on pre-made clothing moved to Studio where the content is, whereas many who made or modified their own stuck with Poser. If Poser users are more inclined to create their own content (mere speculation on my part) then it would create a "vicious" cycle that can only lead vendors elsewhere. Vendor support doesn't tell the whole story of how many are using Poser and without access to sales figures and demographics the end users can only speculate.
...and another broken heart shuffles in.
I see a lot of old friends, though [smiles]; and who knows which others may become new friends?
Introducing myself, I mostly use Poser, and sometimes Vue. I enjoy making Poser material room node spaghetti. I model quite a bit, mostly in Silo but occasionally break out modo. Most of my stuff is for TinkerBell, and also a lot of Lord of the Rings items and Narnia stuff. Other times, it's sci-fi props. Oh, and environment playsets (terrains with skydomes).
Assuming there is a freebies section, I'll be needing to know where that is.
I'd love it if TerraDome can be made to work with Daz as it looks like a great product (I can't afford Poser at the moment so only have access to DS)What I'd REALLY like to know is what will happen to the Terra Dome? Since it was primarily a Poser -only product. My guess is that it will DAZ's priority to get it working in Studio and then all Poser development on it will cease.
Welcome @seachnasaigh !!
@eclark1894 I actually have been wondering that myself. It's a great Poser environment! It would be really sad not to see more development with it.
Back to work on these textures!! LOL! Fun to pop in while rendering though!!
Yes when you look at it there is actually still a real glut of content for poser. Its outdated by now but it exists and its solidly in peoples runtimes. I think as a hobbiest platform there is some quick math that is not on poser's side as far as embracing and supporting new content & figures. With DS being free a user has a $200 - $400 head start on their content budget to get started and embrace a new figure line. and that's a new user who has to start from scratch regardless. An existing user already has working content and you have to pile up the expense of embracing a new figure vs the benefits it offers over an existing one. I think the gap between the old style figures and the new is starting now to get to the point that many holdouts are ready to make the move, but as soon as a user is 'making the move' that 200-400 head start comes back into play making it an uphill battle for poser. It will be an interesting year.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAThe above post is probably now in the book of records for the most replies/quotes.
Pen will be seeing her doctor regarding treatment options for Carpal Tunnel, and is resting comfortably. Thank you for your concern. Donations will be taken starting next week when we establish the fake account, I mean, foundation.
