• Welcome to the Community Forums at HiveWire 3D! Please note that the user name you choose for our forum will be displayed to the public. Our store was closed as January 4, 2021. You can find HiveWire 3D and Lisa's Botanicals products, as well as many of our Contributing Artists, at Renderosity. This thread lists where many are now selling their products. Renderosity is generously putting products which were purchased at HiveWire 3D and are now sold at their store into customer accounts by gifting them. This is not an overnight process so please be patient, if you have already emailed them about this. Runtime DNA merges with DAZ 3D

I was able to get Genesis 3 into Poser with all her morphs and even the asymmetrical expressions working. So very excited about that. But the poor girls is this hideous shade of bilious green as the materials didn't convert across. I will start a different thread about that little issue because I have never fooled with transferring Studio textures to Poser textures. But first off to look for a tutorial and then maybe I won't have to bug anyone.

Textures 'should' be the easy part. As long as the color map isn't some oddball shade then you would likely be able to use EZskin3 to set it up for Firefly or superfly renders. I only toyed with it so far but it seems every bit as slick and maybe even easier to use as EZskin2.

Hi David!

All I can say is I've been a vendor at Daz, Rendo and HiveWire- in all I've been a vendor since 2008. Here at the Hive I have found so many truly wonderful and incredibly! talented people to collaborate with, get technical support from, and just plain great support and feedback in general from everyone here.

I also have the ability to make my own promos (part of why I left Daz... they wouldn't let me....), make my products, even in collaboration, on a time-frame based on quality over a specific release date (another reason I left Daz...), one gets the technical support one needs at times (I didn't get that at Daz either...everyone was so busy "keeping their secrets"/no one wanted to try to collaborate/help one another much- with a very few exceptions), and well, heck I just love it here. I just feel more creative and free here than I ever have anywhere else. And a lot of that is because of the support and collaboration that is so prevalent here.

I truly hope you give HiveWire a try. I truly doubt you would regret it in any way.

Laurie

I agree with Laurie. My 3D vendor history dates back to the beginning of our world... I started with Zygote, was one of DAZ's first PAs, had a few things at Renderosity and Cornucopia. While primarily being Poser-based, I was one of the first content providers to start supporting DAZ Studio as well.

I left DAZ, after being there 11 years, because I felt I was losing my artistic freedom (being told by Marketing Directors what I'd be allowed to create) and out of loyalty. Chris Creek and Dan Farr gave me my start in 3D, so when they were pushed out of their own company by the investors, I felt DAZ wasn't the same anymore. Chris, in many ways, was the old DAZ's heart (bringing caring, understanding and fairness to the company), so went he formed Hivewire3D in 2013, I immediately signed up as their first CA.

For the first time ever I got to actually submit my own advertising without a marketing staff, who doesn't understand my products or customers, destroying it. The atmosphere here is so much friendlier and relaxed, too. I won't pretend those early days at Hivewire3D were all rosy. With any new business, it takes a while to get your footing, figure out exactly what you are doing and iron-out any wrinkles.... but three years later, Hivewire3D has matured and found a loyal customer base.

So again, welcome to all the New-Bees, and those returning and giving us a second look. I hope you'll make Hivewire3D your new home.

Went to bed at midnight, up again at 3:30 am wide awake, so I bounced back in to catch up on the scuttlebutt from my phone. Then finally got out of bed to get the day moving. Off doing other things, and the thread is another 4 pages deep, and new folks dipping in to take a peek and leave a comment or two.

Welcome to the newcomers!!! Happy to see you here and commenting, and a few old friends to HW too. Diversity is a good thing, and adds more water to this pond. So thank you for adding your thoughts.

Oh and to Richard (PE), and eClark, you can share you food porn here any time.

Back to UVing the HiveWire Big Cat to pass over to CWRW. I invite the new folks to peek into some of the other threads and see if you find something to your liking, or perhaps start your own, and show us what you're creating, or images that you're coming up with.

We move on folks. We have to. That's what we do. We're all hit with tragedy, and shocking news, and we choose to endure and weather challenges and find ways to get thru it, be better and even stronger.

Please join with us to make this HiveWire a new home for you as a forum member, and/or a new vendor.

As mentioned before, I along with the rest of the HiveWire encourage new growth here, both for Poser and Studio lovers, or lovers of great solid content. We need you, all of you, to be as involved as you have time and interest. We're glad you're here.

How's that for spin Darryl? :)

Lol. Cool, I actually laughed out loud. Never been called out on a forum like that before. And by the man himself. I may have to frame this post after I get my bearings... I'm still dizzy from the spinning :)

OK!! thats it!! where's my welcome back!?!? :p (I was here quite a lot in the early days, even helped to beta test dawn, but life took me away from actively participating in the 3d community.

It is cool to see so many people popping in here and things staying positive despite the topic at hand. That has always been one of the charms of this place. A few of the old Poser place crew is always uplifting for me as well.
Welcome KittyBrown and David. Netherworks, been a long time bud. Welcome man!

It's a great place to bee! :D

Oh, my gosh! It's been three years???

Time sure does fly when you're having fun.

I know I say it a lot, but I absolutely love it at HiveWire. Certainly, everyone here has been very supportive and encouraging during my journey to become a contributing artist. Don't think I ever would have had the courage to take this step anywhere else.

I can't imagine being told by Marketing Directors what I would be allowed to create or not being able to create my own advertising or promos. No one can know my product as I do. It's one thing to have feedback as to what products perform best and what doesn't. But ultimately, if we don't love what we create, it's going to show.

I'm so SO glad HiveWire exists. And I'm so glad everyone who has stayed through these three years had the confidence HiveWire would mature into a solid presence and would build a loyal customer base.

I hope everyone returning after the unplanned hiatus and those new to HiveWire find it to be as warm and welcoming as I have.

I would never tell a vendor what they could or couldn't make!!! It's up to the individual, not the company.

Imagination cannot be ruled on by a committee.

If I want to make something, I do it for myself first of all, and if I think it is worth it, then I let other have it. Obviously vendors do it a bit different from freebie makers like me as they have a target audience.

NO vendor should be told that they have to do want the company wants if it is not what they themselves want to do.

A note to vendors.....

Please keep doing what YOU want to do, it is YOUR talent, not a namelesss committee that we enjoy!!!!

Potential vendors here, please check out the store. There you will see a variety of things for a variety of characters etc. So, your talent would be a welcome addition top HW3D.

All the best.

What a day ... Sorry for not catcing this thread earlier. First off. Poser is not going any where. we're fine and have long term plans to help with content discoverability inside Poser. (That means making it easier for new users to find your goodies). The events of this week have simply underscored the need for that aspect of Poser to get finished sooner than later.

We'll be making content related announcements and filling you in on our response soon.

Happy Rendering!

I don't use Poser, I have done in the past and like parts of it so this post is a nice ray of sunshine for all those Poser users. I do hope this merger (takeover) becomes a positive for the Poser and DS markets as some of the products on RDNA are just plain outthere awesome. which might drive different content for us DS users.

I have to kind of agree that SM should be running its own 'official' forums, though maintaining a strong presence in other active poser communities is essential as well. That being said, since poser still doesn't seem quite ready to jump both feet into the content creation game maybe they should look at establishing stronger official relationships with third party content creators/shops. They still desperately need a flagship poser figure(s) that can carry the weight and anchor the content economy that will make poser-centric content creation an attractive endeavor to new and existing artists.
