Oh, the content is still on the site (for now). It's just that they did away with the Deep Freeze category and price points is all.

Yeah, I saw those morphs; he has a couple of morph packs in those sets. That's something I passed up just because well... I can do it myself. And do. A lot. LOL :D

At the time I discovered Blackthorn, I was working on a few western theme poses, and found myself trying to make my own, doing the best I could. It was nice to find somebody doing them correctly. It's another case of unique, well done Poser content...so what happens with a vendor like that . . .

Yeah, his are quite good, and I think it's great that he took a sampling of all the different areas, not just the "Hollywood Indian" type.

But, for me, it came down to case of, high cost item, and the type I can do myself, so buying them would just be a convenience purchase... stuff to use for quick things not my own art. And they were only rarely on sale. LOL

Yeah, that was why I put it off, the sets never seemed to be included in the sale items. And yeah, I never wanted to turn out something that was a Hollywood version, totally inaccurate if you study really old pictures.

I'm wondering now if I should consider again putting my freebie thread here at Hivewire, or at least a duplicate, in case it gets disqualified, because of being primarily Poser related and contains links to outside products, under new management. The part that I was unclear about here with the new forum is...can I copy and paste it in "as is" without separating it into "mini-threads" according to figure type. I know Miss B has visited the thread over there, so she would know what I'm referring to, I've organized and separated according to figure, each separate post on the first page, and only announce new content on the pages following (but still keep adding new content to the list by way of the edit feature). I think it was the lack of an ongoing live edit feature that didn't time out...that was the reason I couldn't figure how to maintain the list. I could paste it in as it is now, and just add new content without updating the archived list....that's the only way I think it can be done. In case you don't know what I mean, the freebie thread is here on RDNA Community Showcase.

Any ideas/input, Miss B...or anybody else?

Well, in reading through the instructions for posting in the free stuff area, I realized that the separation of categories had to do with physically uploading the file here, not to links. I took a look at how a few other folks were doing their free stuff threads, and it seemed to be the way things have always been done, so I experimented with pasting the links from the RDNA thread to here, and it worked fine. I don't think I would have had the patience to start over from scratch with that extensive list...haha. Anyway, the SKYLAB Free Stuff thread is back, and safe regardless of the outcome at RDNA forum.

Glad to hear that Sky. If I had seen your post earlier, I would've suggested you try it. I don't see it being any different than the very long list of forums, tutorials, addons, and such I have going in the Blender forum. Links are just that, links.

Hey Miss B, thanks for responding :) I was only asking because I remember you had visited the thread at RDNA and would know what I was trying to describe. I didn't want to get mid stream and find out it wasn't going to work, and just end up creating a mess for someone to clean up later...haha. Mostly just wanted the sorted categories to remain intact and archived, without having to completely start over. Anyway, it worked out...it's posted, basically no frills lists, but the info is nevertheless all there. I just didn't want any changes at RDNA forum to result in loss of the thing altogether. I've been through that with DAZ before, don't need a repeat performance...haha. In glancing through the RDNA Merger thread, someone stated that their post had been removed...not sure if they meant RDNA or at DAZ...immediate loss of the Deep Freeze at RDNA was enough to convince me that new management was taking over, and it was time to retreat...haha.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to do at this point. After two days of reading folks' very heated opinions toward DAZ and DS, seems like a poor time for me to be releasing DS poses...it could be misread as some sort of bowing and tail-kissing on my part. It wouldn't be my intention of course, just happened to be bad timing, launching into crossover work right before the controversial merger announcement. Is this the point at which I join all the other Poser users, sitting up on the porch, grumbling to themselves, watching the grass grow...haha. Psychological peer pressure goes both ways I guess. One thing for sure....if we do nothing....then we'll be at the same place this time next year...and the year after that. I really feel for the admin's at RDNA....server being overwhelmed by downloading, folks pulling out of the galleries...and they're having to stomp out fires left and right. I decided the most sensible thing to do, in order to ensure that I already have everything backed up in my RDNA account, is I copied and pasted the text of my account list in a .doc, and instead of re-downloading stuff I don't need, I'm going down the list, item by item, and comparing it to what I have in my archive. Whether downloading or doing it by list, you still have to deal with things item by item...it's just that this way, it's not contributing to the server overload problem, while at the same time making sure I have everything. It took over an hour to just copy the short account list, the server was so slammed.

One post I noticed in the Merger thread mentioned some of the concerns I've had this past year...that is, if Adobe and Microsoft ever decide to be players in the 3D community (through the 3D gaming market), then DAZ will meet its match in terms of being swallowed up. While we're all slapping at each other over STORE WARS, the real future of 3D, that of the operating system upon which the software has to be built, may leave our programs and all our "stuff" obsolete. Vendors and those depending upon 3D for a living need to keep their eyes on the ball...that is, short term goals that meet their needs say for the next five years, but then also long term goals.

I loved the example in the merger thread of the shoe store...selling out of size 8's, but being unable to order re-stock of any size 8's, as management said size 8 did not sell...haha. The real reason they didn't sell, of course, being they never had enough in stock to satisfy the customers wanting size 8...so it was a problematic self-fulfilling cycle that produced skewed sales figuues. I've always thought that was skewed logic behind "sex sells". It sells when you draw customer's who want it...it all has to do with presentation. We've got to admit, DAZ has proven that....I can remember when their home page was just about as bad as Rendo. They cleaned up their act, changed their image, and sure enough, they found a market with schools, and with a younger group of hobbyists as well as professionals, all because they broadened their potential customer base. You can't sell sweaters at the beach...just doesn't work. And that's why folks can't find buyers for "regular" clothing products in the middle of a soft porn shop...may as well say it, because it's true. People do not go to the beach to buy a sweater...and they do not go to a place where soft porn is displayed openly in the front window to buy clothes for their kids, etc. We would think it was ridiculous, in real life, if we saw someone taking a child into a place like that in order to shop. And yet we lose sight of that online, especially when it is cloaked as "artistic freedom". We're not realizing that there are folks who take one look at it, and flee...the same way they'd flee if they realized they were walking down a street being worked by prostitutes. By the way, that sells too...haha. So we become like the shoe store, in a hopeless cycle of ignorance, convincing ourselves that size 8's just don't sell here....when in reality, we've lost far more customers with our reputation. It's all coming back to bite the 3D community now. Hivewire has very wisely embraced a moderate position on this type of thing...and in time I think they'll reap the benefits of having done so. It takes a long time to repair reputation, or as the saying goes, it takes awhile to turn a big boat around. And just in case you're thinking that we as a community don't have a reputation, just what do you suppose breast enlargement and jiggle morphs are for, and realistic enlargement and erection for gens, and tongue morphs, and bondage-ware...artistic freedom...c'mon, give me a break...walks like it, talks like it...haha.

Sky, my thoughts, for what they're worth (I'll drop my pennies in the cup when I'm done. :p)

Do as you wish to do. Move forward. Poser folks will release Poser goodies, DS folks will release DS goodies.

There is NO reason to STOP creating just because of the merger. None. The format you work in does not matter.

We are all artists. We are all here for the same reason. Create, do what you enjoy. Share what you're willing to share, and those who download it will enjoy it also.

Just waking up on my side here... still working on coffee... waiting for my Bear to come home from work. He's a union carpenter, who works for a company that primarily gets medical facility contracts, and they've shifted him to an ugly 5pm-2am shift for the next few days. He is not a night wolf like I am, he likes to hibernate at night time, so I will be AFK a while once he does get home, as he's bound to come in the door dragging his tail on the ground and grumping like the bear he is. LOL

So once he gets home, I'll be off for a while, but after he falls over into bed, I should be back for a bit. Still working on Nataani's poser files. UGH how I hate this program. But I am trying my best to re-learn how to use it! :)

Oh, I know all about night shift. I worked all shifts at one time or another, but always preferred nights because of my night owl tendencies...haha. So we'll catch up whenever you're free :)

I noticed you were struggling over in the Nataani thread, and knew that there was not much I could do to help....except I did try to help someone who was helping you, get their images posted so you could see the settings. Just happened to notice. I usually just hang out at the forum home page so that I can see the new posts when I refresh the browser.

Hang in there with it...you'll get it, I feel confident. I'm sure to some degree that you're dealing with a few differences in the material room in version Pro 2010. Also, rendering capabilities were different then too.

Yes, I had noticed that you did that. Thanks. :) By the time I saw his post, you'd already shown how to do it, so I just moved on with what he was trying to do.

I think there are probably some material room and render engine differences, yeah. But what he's doing over there is actually helping. I just... I really hate this software, LOL. I feel like I have to make all separate maps for each program, and that is absolutely insane.

I'll get him there. This wolf is nothing if not stubborn. :p I ALMOST had my P10 working tonight... almost. I actually got it to run for about an hour, and when it failed, it did NOT take the graphic driver with it! So I'm making progress on sorting out that incompatibility, too. Just going to take me time to get it all behaving (both the materials and the software). LOL

Right...I've seen lengthy discussions about material issues between the two programs. It was way over my head at the time, so I retained mostly none of it, except the knowledge of beware, danger ahead...haha. So you're smack in the middle of it now. It's in your favor, what you're calling stubbornness...haha...or determination is a nicer term for it. I'm the same way, if I ever get determined to do something, then I'll stay up all night until I get it...haha.

Poser 10 would put you in the Pro 2014 ballpark....nearer the current version. Wish I had the answer for that...I can't remember if you've mentioned the type video card and driver that you're using...if you can post the info, I'll google to see what I can find, if that would help you. It has to be fairly specific information in order to zero in on what you need for a fix.

I'll go off briefly and move to the kitchen workstation. Be back on shortly :)

Jura's been helping me out quite a bit on RDNA's Poser10 forum with it. I've made some definite progress with it. I don't think I'll have it sorted in time enough to do Nataani as a full package, but I can always do a free update to his Poser package later on down the road with the poses if I want to.

At the moment I'm more concentrated on the damn materials. Poser materials are VERY different from DS materials. And frankly, the material room is freaking greek to me, so the help PDG is giving me over there is gold right now! LOL

I figured that was it, because I did remember that thread you had created.

As for the Deep Freeze disappearing, Eric (Traveler) did respond in one of the threads that it had to be hidden for now, and sale prices in the Real Deals had to be set back to "base price" until the merger into the DAZ store is complete. Then they're going to reset the Real Deals back to where they should be, and the Deep Freeze will be back. Needless to say, I hope that comes to pass, but only time will tell for sure.

I could tell that he had the answers you were needing, so that's why I jumped so fast to help him get it posted.

They are usually very helpful on the RDNA Poser forum, not much they have not seen or heard of numerous times...so that's a good place to ask :)

Hey Miss B :) Oh, that's good, if it indeed happens. I just hate to see RDNA loose its identity in all this.

I've changed my emails to match my old DAZ account. I happened to have two small RDNA accounts...I had started one back in 2008 I think....then proceeded to lose track of the log-in info, actually forgot I had it, signed up a second account, then rediscovered there must have been an old account when I needed something from it that I just knew I had. Long story short, hope both accounts will merge into the new system at DAZ, but I'm backing things up to be sure. I went through the thing at CP of losing access and having to back up the account when they changed to expiring downloads, so I have a thing about folks playing around with accounts...haha.
