Wow - DalekSupreme, KittyBrown, phdubrov, Kendall, any other New Bees I missed - WELCOME!
This is a very big deal to all of us who've been in the 3D World for awhile. Some are going to be sad, some happy. It's fine to express that..though we don't, of course, want to get into any bashing. Syyd, Colm & Eric are the only ones who can say why they made this choice, so let's try to not speculate on that, ok? And as always, this is a Poser and DAZ Studio friendly place.
The negativity, and in some cases, outright animosity I'm seeing from Poser users is bothersome. The tribalism needs to stop.
Poser, DS, Carrara, Maya, C4D, Shade3d (and others) are *tools* people, nothing more. Use them to your best advantage. Buy content, use it, and be happy.
There are great people at all of the sites/stores.
Kendall, I think that what folks are expressing here is a concern, based on losing a marketplace that's been around for a long time. Right now, there's a huge concern about the future of the Poser products currently at RDNA and the vendors who produced them. DAZ has been steering away from Poser products in recent years. Perhaps that is going to change, but it is certainly understandable, given the way DAZ has been going, that Poser users are worried. You are absolutely right that all of these programs are but tools to be used to your best advantage - very well stated!
I just hope that what has happened doesn't adversely effect the atmosphere here as I really love this place.
We have no intention of this adversely affecting us, Pen
.
Sorry Kendell, people here actually discuss topics. We are allowed to have a voice and say we are upset by what has happened. This would not be tolerated at certain sites, in fact they would have deleted a lot of post as they don't like "negativity" to be on their forums.
Everyone keep in mind that there can be a fine line between discussion and insulting/bashing - of other companies and of other software and other posters. I don't think anyone's crossed over that line really in this discussion - there is understandable concern about what will happen with all of RDNA's content, particularly the Poser content.
I hope you are not seeing outright animosity from Poser users here, Kendall. If you, or anyone else, feels that someone has crossed the line, please, report the post, and we will look at it.
The forums here are a lot more friendly because we self regulate what we say.
Well, I'd say that they are more friendly because that is the expectation and policy at this forum
. Most people do watch what they say, but sometimes people need reminders that they need to be considerate of others.
As usuale I'm seeing a lot of speculation and mis information, for example Daz do allow non Daz products in there galleries including the Hivewire figures.
Yes, there is certainly a LOT of speculation (NONE of us know why the RDNA owners chose to sell to DAZ and unless they tell us, we won't know) and a little mis-information, but the mis-information about the galleries at DAZ was immediately corrected, nicely, by a number of people.
But I am concerned about here at Hivewire from what I'm reading I hope this doesn't become the Poser forum, its been bad enough for DS users in other forums and I would hate to feel unwelcome here.
I think people are speculating about whether the official Poser forum would become part of HiveWire. Whether or not that happened, this would not "become the Poser forum" so please don't worry about that. This place supports both DAZ Studio and Poser products. There's no plan to change that no matter how many Poser users/vendors may join us as a result of this shakeup or any other reason. ALL who are willing to follow our TOS are welcome!
Okay, here you go for the routine.
Log in to RDNA, Select the Account option, select the Downloads option, then away you go and download loads of stuff.
Get it all before the close up.
I don't think there's any reason for mass panic here, ok?
It has been said both at RDNA and DAZ that ALL your currrent RDNA content, including gifts you received, will become part of your DAZ products. You need to ensure that you RDNA email address is the same as the one you use at DAZ and it is supposed to be ported over.
I'd say it's not a bad idea to get proof of your purchases at RDNA in case something gets lost in the process.
