I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too NA (hope you don't mind me abbreviating... finger sore tonight)
My computer hates Iray :(
It's kewl! =)
Well, I don't know I think probably in the long run it's sort of worth all the hassle. Most likely it's because I have a few items that are subdivided in Iray.

This image is truly awesome. Really shows off the versatility of the figure.

There are so many great images here these days but I don't see that many on other boards like RDNA, Deviant Art or Facebook. If more of these were posted outside of HiveWire it would be great promotion for the figures and attract more users and vendors. Just a thought.

Hey Darryl, good to see you back and I can't wait for more of your fabulous images!!

You are exactly right!

I try to post images of HW figures on other sites. Although, my true passion really is working with Harry. Hornet 3d and Seliah also post on sites other than the Hive, and I do know there are many that also have accounts at DA. I wonder if you could start a category for Hivewire figures at DA?

RDNA really is the only one that I have seen cater more to the HW models as they do have a Dawn gallery.

There are also other outlets/online magazines like 3D World, Advanced and Creative Photoshop, and Imagine FX to name a few that deal mainly in artwork.

Hi, Darryl. As Napalm pointed out, I do also post to my DeviantArt gallery. That is actually my "main/home" gallery when it comes to posting my artwork. I also almost always list the credits for everything that I can in my images, as well, so when an image involves Dusk or Dawn, it's made plainly clear, along with what products were used and who made those products. While I don't put links back to the products, as some sites take issue with that, I do simply mention the HiveWire site as where those products are found.

I have a much smaller gallery at both RDNA and Renderosity, but again, they do not put a huge focus on the figures. RDNA does have a Dawn category, but they do not have one for Dusk or Luna, and honestly, I think the best way to put the figures out there is not to separate them off to their own categories, but just put them in with the others. I post my artwork on RDNA just under either Studio or Poser categories, according to whichever software I rendered it in. Folks are more likely to view the general categories than they are the more specialized ones.

Napalm, we can't create categories on DA. When submitting artwork to DA, we are limited to the list of categories they have available, and have to put our images under one of those available categories. We do have the option to use tags, and I always tag any HW image with HiveWire and the name of whichever figure I used as well, along with the other relevant tags. That's really the best we can do with the DA categories. Most of my work on DA ends up submitted to 3DArtwork, and then whichever sub-category is most appropriate for the image, whether that's Figures/Male, Figures/Female, Figures/Groups, etc.

I didn't know that about DA. Thanks for the information!

I don't have an account there as of yet, but might consider opening one in the future.

I do love to browse all genera of the art available there. There really are some super images!!

Yes, there's a huge variety of artwork that gets posted to DA, which is one of the reasons I like it. I've been on the site for the last ten years now.

This is what the part of the submission form looks like when we are submitting a piece of art to our gallery :

upload_2016-1-30_12-32-8.png

Now, I have the "favorites" showing, where it displays my most frequently submitted-to categories. But if you look further down the list, you can see where it says "Digital Art"...

upload_2016-1-30_12-33-56.png

And the second image here shows how the categories are distributed. So, while I can't create a "HiveWire" or "Dusk" category to put my artwork into when I post my HW figure pictures (I can create a folder for that within my own gallery, but that will only be seen if someone goes to my actual gallery and looks at all the folders), I can add the HiveWire, Dusk, Dawn, Luna, etc tags in the submission form. So if someone goes to the DA main page and searches for "Dusk" or "Dawn" or even "Hivewire" the results will poll from the tags of submitted artwork by members of the site.

I do think there's a group or two on DA also that focuses on the HW figures, but I'm not positive of that.

Personally, I think the best way to get the figures out there is to just put our images right out there into general circulation with the rest of our work... and if we're mentioning credits or at least crediting what figures were used for the art, people will be able to look at our image and know that this particular one has Dusk in it, or that one has Dawn in it, and hey we can get them from Hivewire...

Here's an example of what I mean. This was the post I made for Nataani's crouched/dirt image :
Nataani v.2 : Working Man

Anyway. That's where I'll stop before we completely de-rail Dusk's lovely render thread here. Back to the pictures now! :D

Seliah, NapalmArsenal. Sorry, I've been busy all day and couldn't get back to you. I've seen your work on other boards. There's a few other regulars, including the prolific Ken1171, who post a lot of HiveWire related stuff. I come here though and see all types of great work that I've not seen elsewhere.

dA has a group called Dawn-of-a-new-Era where people share their Dawn, Dusk, Harry etc. renders. So once you put them in your gallery, it's easy to share them with the group. It's good to put them out in the wild but also good to have another place where people curious about them can see all the different variations we're getting from these figures.

I don't get to use the family as much as I might like but there's kind of a cult following for them that I've not seen in other "post Gen 4" figures. The community is doing some awesome stuff. I have high hopes that they'll continue to develop and grow, especially with a good push from the users.

PS: Thanks for the welcome NA.

I have to say, I agree with you very much. ;)

And I can't remember if I posted a formal welcome to the site or not... so in case I forgot lol... welcome and it's nice to have you here. :D

oh my lordy... *falls in a dead faint* HOW did I miss this?!?!?!?!?

I really want to copy you, Laurie.... but I'm so busy on my old geezer cowboy with his horse named Gus (wrote a poem, named the horse) by the firelight, to show off the saddle and bridle.... so many renders, too little time...

I challenged myself to do a couple of subjects that were different than what I normally do & I must confess that I did have fun creating them!

This is the first.

I do like the render, Flint. Very nice color scheme... and you have got those clothes fitting to Dusk very nicely, I do have to say.

This was the second picture that resulted from my challenge. I used Dusk's Creature Heads & what I was able to create appeared to be the perfect companion for the Kirin.

Nice Flint. Is that the GIS outfit you fitted to Dusk in the first render?

Oh I like this second render too. :)

Fabulous Flint!!

I really like the star officer and with his expression I would not mind so much if he wrote me a citation! :)

The Kirin is gorgeously fantastic and very true to the genera. I can see the flights of fantasy at work as you took your imagination and your muse to new heights! Masterfully done!

This is my favorite genera because you can break all the rules and come up with some really interesting effects and creatures!

I like your renders, Flint and if I may say, the second one the most. I like the golden tones, the composition, the smile on Dusk's face. And I really, REALLY like the little winged critters...what are they?
