Is that too much detail on the skin shader? I'm still trying to learn how to be superfly on my cycles.

Are you using a bump map Me? I ask because, from what I understand from posts I've seen on the SM Poser forum, SuperFly/Cycles renders don't do bump maps, but use normal maps instead, but I'm not sure if normal maps would be used for a character skin.

In either case, I think it's a bit too noticeable. IOW, her right cheek looks like she has a rash that's standing out a bit too much.

Sorry Me195... don't know anything about Superfly shaders...but looks a bit too bumpy?

Oh that looks nice Lyne. I think I have that mermaids tail buried somewhere on my external hard drive.

I know it's a really basic question but how did you wish her skin to appear? Smoother? Less Blemishes?

My goal is to make it look as real as possible. To me it looks like I went a little overboard on the normal map. I just wanted to see what other people think. Any pointers on what would make it look better would be appreciated.

Thank you. I'm using a normal map that I made and it looks a little too detailed. I'm still trying to figure out the vector bump node.

Thank you Lyne that's what I was looking for. After a while it all looks the same to me. On the bright side your render looks outstanding.

I agree although it depends on the effect you are looking for this is getting close to a render of someone with goose bumps. I am not using Superfly at present so I can't suggest a solution but this has the potential for being a great portrait.

Nice render, strangely I was reading yesterday that mermaid tails are all the rage with celebrities at the moment, how they walk is beyond me, but then as they are celebrities perhaps they are carried everywhere.

fantastic render!

Thank you.

Part of my budget this month went on Owls of the World Vol 2 from Ken Gilliland here at Hivewire and managed to get time to play. I love owls and birds of prey have been wanting to get this package, and a few others, for months so hopefully I will get around to buying a few more.

Looking good. I can't tell about the face as it is in shadow but the skin texture on the shoulder sunlit shoulder looks good to me.

Thank you Hornet3d. The level of detail is pretty consistent. If the shoulder looks good then the face will too. That makes me feel a lot better about the shader. This test was to see how much detail is lost when it's in a shadow. Thankfully not much detail is lost although it's a lot harder to see in JPG than it is in EXR.

@Me195 a bit better...but also less bumpy from being back a bit further from the camera....

Dawn can wear Fabi's V4 hood/cape (with a bit of post for this too)

Thank you Lyne. I found that 30% of the strength I had looks good both close up and far away. Also, my gosh that is a fantastic render.
