This is available now in the store, by the way, folks, and as I said in the LAMH thread, that's lovely!

Took a long time to render Iray dropped down to CPU only rendering, this is a really lovely Lamh preset, really sets off the cat.

Beautiful Tparo!! So I've always wondered- what does DS like best/use for rendering? RAM, vid card? All? I ask as you say here your render went to CPU only. I do see Poser 11/Superfly wants to use my Intel i7 etc CPU and does not give me any other options for example.

Thx!

DS Iray prefers big Nvidia graphics cards. Other makes of graphics cards don't help for Iray rendering. If your graphics card isn't big enough to handle the scene, it will render using only the CPU. From my limited understanding, RAM amounts matter primarily when rendering only with the CPU.

Yep, I only have a 1050 with 4gb, was all I could afford, so anything with more than a couple of figures and a bit of scenery drops to CPU.

Thanks! That makes sense. I have loads of RAM but a Mac video card (ATI Radeon 5770 HD). LOL my old Mac has Nvidia cards.

Not the case with LAMH hair, but in cases like forests and other instances-rich scenes instancing optimization->memory is very effective. (The Harpwood Trail/Pond for example.)

Got the cat today on sale...
Quick render in Carrara 8.5 using Carrara fur .. works pretty good in Carrara :)

The moth said to the cat 'so what's the difference between moth balls and fur balls?'
