I think figure choices are a personal thing. It comes down what the artist enjoys working with.

I have a very strong preference for Genesis 1, as for ME, personally, it is the most versatile figure in my library.
But I also still use the Gen4's AND the Gen3's on a regular basis.
I love Dawn and Dusk - but I can't use them in my own artwork on a regular basis yet, because there is a huge lack for clothing and skins and some other stuff that I need as a story illustration artist where appearances of the characters MUST remain consistent.

I like Miki 4 as a figure, but see my comments regarding Dawn and Dusk.
Same goes for Roxie.
I actually also DO like Paul and Pauline, but again, refer to my comments regarding Dawn and Dusk.

I make content for the HW figures, and for the Daz Genesis and Gen4/Gen3 lines. Because I enjoy working with all of them. LOL

I might try some stuff for Paul and Pauline eventually, but at the moment, I feel like I'm working with my hands tied on both figures in the morphs area. I like their shape and proportions and the way they bend, but they lack in most content yet.

In the end, the figures we use comes down to personal preference. I do NOT like the Genesis 2 or Genesis 3 figures at all. Every artist will go with the figures they enjoy the most, and the figures they find the most useful. I don't think it's fair to compare apples and oranges, and comparing different figure lines is doing just that.

... V4/G2 still has some best skins, and more face morphs. And I want all this for Dawn :)

The real key to this is vendor support and unfortunately it's a Catch-22 situation. In order for a new character to be popular and succeed, it takes CA/PAs with the courage to weather the smaller sales numbers (until those products get popular). On the customer end, it takes customers willing to support those brave vendors, showing them that there is market for those products and they should pursue it. Eventually, this symbiotic relationship will hopefully bare fruit and more cautious vendors will enter start to support those characters as well.

While I rarely use humans in my imagery, I do purchase Dawn and Dusk products simply to support the vendors at Hivewire3D. On a long view, it makes good business sense for me; more sales attracts more vendors and higher quality work which in turn brings more customers who may notice my products as well.

Still don't get why there is common idea that Poser users do not use DS. Or DAZ content. Or that one program should do everything.

And still don't get what's so great/special about G3/V7 line. (yes, have all standart morphs, shapeshifter, muscle, HD... all usual stack.) V4/G2 line still better (more versalite) for portrait works, Dawn line is equal for ten feet or more. IMHO.

Gliteratti, you're right. It is personal opinion. I try and keep an open mind but I should say, I'm very much in the poser camp.

I used to always use DAZ content but lately if you look, I would say 90% of what they sell now says Daz Studio 9. This means I have to convert it by hand (which I've done but it takes a while). For instance, DAZ recently offered a casino. I wanted that casino. It is beautifully done but the work to convert that many items was rather daunting with all of my other projects.

I'm not sure what you mean by "ten feet or more" but I've just started working with Dawn and after I've built up a library I'll have some basis for comment. Beauty is indeed subjective, however, when I look at some of the clothing made for G3, I have to say I'm quite impressed.

For the record, I use Aiko 3 in almost all of my renders. She'll always be my fav!

LOL, quiet rob, you're quoting someone else and addressing me about the comments,

As for Genesis3 clothing, what I see is V4 clothing warmed over, but you're right, it was nice when they released it the first time for V4.

Beauty is indeed subjective...I loved the original genesis but didn't really jump on board with Gen2 although I did buy a few things(mainly to convert to other characters) I do love Genesis 3 but I mainly use Dawn as my go to figure at the moment and haven't really bought much yet for Genesis 3 although I have picked up a couple of things. All 3D models have their pros and cons and it will really depend on how you use them which you prefer and also if you have a familiarity with a product it's sometimes difficult to move on to a different model. I love that the newer models can morph into just about anything and especially in DS the morphs can have their own rigging to a certain extent and also their own uv's it gives you a great flexibility. Just look at the Gorilla morphs for Dusk and also the Reindeers from Sparky. I think the only limit with any character is the artist's imagination...

That it is. Though it's can be harder with some figures to achieve exactly what you want. Pre Dawn, I didn't really object to having to smooth out V4's bends or fix the areas where there was always poke through with certain bends. While I really did like Roxie (and created a Roxie character with V4), I just had too much trouble getting what I wanted with her. I don't know if she's got more morphs ... though I saw some really nice custom characters for Roxie. So, it's probably just me, but I was never able to get the flexibility out of the Poser figures I wanted.

Absolutely, it's personal opinion, and what I stated about Poser figures and DAZ figures is my impression of the figures and how easily allow they me to express myself.

The HiveWire figures absolutely do.

People seem to believe that I don't like DAZ or it's figures. Actually, not true. Most of my library is filled with DAZ figures, props and clothes. I would have happily have jumped on the Genesis bandwagon with everyone else except for three little things. Actually four, but we'll get to that.
1. When Genesis came out they tied it in directly to having to open Studio to get the figure or to use it. At the time, and actually to this day, I can't run Studio 4 on my older Mac, which, of course, is my main computer. The only reason I can use it now is because of my laptop which can run Studio.

2. DAZ didn't want to, or couldn't, make a Poser version. That pretty much left me out in the cold from the get go. If I can't run Studio, I couldn't get Genesis. Plus, I didn't want to use Studio or abandon Poser.

3. The prices on some of that Genesis stuff was expensive. Things were already tight for me because I had just lost my job at the time. I'm still digging myself out of that hole, and it's the ONLY real reason I don't buy more Hivewire stuff. I do hope that Hivewire will do the one thing that I used to love DAZ for when Chris was in charge and bring back all those sales.

4. I've never made any secret of the fact that I don't like Studio, and never have. Although I have used it a little now, and there are one or two thing s about it that i do like, I'm starting to question the sanity of people who claim that Studio is easy to use. I think they must work for the gov'ment or something.:cautious:

LOL, I think it's more

a) an issue of the familiar being easier for most people and
b) different tools working better for the way people think and work.

I never used DS til Genesis came out and I liked that figure a lot, so started to use it. For quite some time I felt that it was WAY less intuitive and more difficult to use than Poser. Now, having used both for a number of years, I don't find that to be the case. Some things I find easier and more intuitive about Poser, and others about DAZ Studio. Different tools to accomplish the same end goal, just like things like Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop.

lol...I feel the same way about people when they say Poser is easy to use. It drives me nuts but in DS there isn't much I can't figure out with time to experiment. I think like Alisa says it comes down to familiarity with the program.

But ... but ... Poser is easy to use

Familiarity certainly helps. I had the hardest time (and still do) trying to figure out where Microsoft hid things in Office 2007 (at work) and 2013 (at home). Doesn't help either that I use two different versions.

For me, it really is b) different tools working better for the way people think and work.

I started with DS, and a few months later bought Poser 5 when it was on sale for mere dollars. While both programs are fairly simple in terms of spin a dial and change a figure ... the way Poser organized things worked and still work better for me. I'm so dependant now on being able to undock my Poser document window space from the workspace and size it to the same aspect as my render that I absolutely can't work with the DS workspace.

How workspace is organized is one of the things that irritates me so much about the Windows since 7. I so don't want my computer to look like a cell phone, and touch screen controls makes absolutely no sense with a monitor that isn't a touch screen. Besides. Hard enough to keep my monitor screen clean of fingerprints! Not to mention that I keep my monitor back further from the keyboard than most people may because it lessens eyestrain for me. With a touch screen, I'd have to have the monitor closer to me which would mean more eyestrain.

Hehehe I can certainly relate to what Satira is saying. I started with DS and used that for a while, and was totally fine with it. Then I got Poser and never looked back. It just instantly 'clicked' with me for some reason! I've seen people complain about the Kruuse interface and how it is so old fashioned, but for me personally, it is the most intuitive interface I've encountered in any software. Just how my brain works, I guess :)

And don't get me started on mobile interfaces! YUCK!! lol I'll be using Windows 7 until it won't work anymore, then I'll go Linux all the way

I use windows 10 because I use a "Surface" so the tablet interface works for it. But you can change it so works similar to 7 (which I need when I'm using the Surface as a desktop computer plugged into a normal monitor and keyboard)

Oh, yeah. This is me, in exact reverse! I started with Poser 4, kept with it until P7. I switched over to DS due to aging hardware needs, ans all of a sudden everything just clicked perfectly into place. I didn't use Poser again until I started doing content for the HW figures. And it's still like stumbling around blindfolded for me. LOL :)

I think that may be the only thing in DS that doesn't undock but it does have the white frame which changes when you change the render size so you can see how it will render prior to hitting the render button.

So true that we are all different because the way renders function in Poser drives me nuts trying to get things to render correctly, that and the library and the way the selections change when you load something. I'm not sure that I could ever become truly comfortable using Poser but I can do more in it than I used to be able to. Perseverance does pay off...

I'm finally using Taozen's downloader to redownload everything and I was wondering what is the easiest way to get the orders downloaded as proof of order?

I just did that last weekend or so. Alisa has instructions in the first post.

Products moved to HiveWire from RDNA

QUESTION:
How do I get proof of purchase for my products bought at RDNA?

ANSWER:
Please be SURE to download/copy all of your receipts from your products at RDNA because that invoice will be needed to add the items to your account when we can do that.

RDNA has said that all product downloads there and invoices will remain through the end of 2016.

Here is a quick way to get them:

1-Go to your Order History.

2-Search for All dates

3-For each page, click "Check all" at the top so there are checks in each box.

4-At the bottom Click "Invoices for Selected"

5-A new tab will pop up with all the invoices from that page. Save that page or print to a pdf, or however you'd normally save things like that.

6-Do the same for each page of orders.

I just did exactly that. Grabbed a tutorial for creating conforming clothes in P9/PP2012, so that should keep me busy for a while. :)

Well Fantasy Attic has like ermm..... sort of a red door district where you have to ask for access though I have never been in there or care to. My little bit naugties are way tame and are more along the lines of artistic nude.

Btw Rendo just put this out?

Would you like to Render DAZ Genesis 3 in Poser?

Want to render her with EXPRESSIONS and clothing that fits?

Now you can with this FREE utility from willdial!

I have tried Willdial's conversion kit and I was wondering if it's just me:

1. I can't seem to pick the expression head handles in Poser. I see them, but I can't pick them with the mouse, or find them on the body parts list.
2. PP11 freezes up when I try to pose the converted Gen3F. Sometimes the freeze-up happened when just moving the camera with just the bare figure on scene.

I have re-downloaded the DSON plugin just to make sure I have the last version, and it looks like it hasn't been updated in a long time. I wonder what could cause the converted figure to freeze Poser? The busy cursor shows up and Poser stops responding. All I can do is kill the task and try again.

Is it just me?
