The Anchorage, Part 3

Apparently, we're at 17.7 inches in Philadelphia, and the blizzard will continue through the night. They anticipate that we will get all the snow this weekend we would normally get in a winter.

So much for the max of 10 inches they expected when the mayor said the storm wouldn't have any impact on the Monday morning commute :p They haven't been having a lot of success clearing the snow from Center City because of the wind. No way they will have the entire city cleared in one day so unless it is a balmy 60 degrees tomorrow and through the night. What they are expecting is a high of 34 Sunday (2 degrees above freezing) and a low of 20 degrees overnight. Monday's high is expected to be 37, so I expect the roads to be a solid sheet of ice Monday morning.

Tsuki and I are staying nice and warm all bundled up on the couch. Me under the blanket, and her sprawled out on top the blanket. It's so funny how often she sleeps on her back.

The hives are starting to clear up a wee bit on my hands and I have a few patches of clear skin appearing. But, of course, they have spread up my arms ... probably because I've been wearing a toasty warm long sleeved sweatshirt. I'm now wearing a short sleeved tee. Not exactly what the current weather calls for, but anything to keep my arms from overheating!

Very happy to hear you are safe and warm if still itchy. And your wee girl will be such good company during it all.

More weather related news here.
Within three or so weeks we'll be getting a new roof. We were able to afford the upgrade to metal so that's what we'll be doing. What surprised me is that the roofer will be paying 80% of our deductible so we'll only be paying around $3500 ourselves after the insurance money. Most of that is the difference between 30 year shingles and metal. $190 is fixing a small part of the back porch which has other weather damage not covered by the insurance claim. The first insurance check is in the bank already and the second one will come after we send the roofer's work receipt to the them.

That is really great, Terre!

Glad you kept the glass between you and the snow.
Oh I stayed inside because I was only wearing a t-shirt, slacks and a pair of slides (shoes) I wear in the house. I wasn't dressed warm enough to even just open the outside door without actually going out. We have an awning that goes from the front door to the curb, so we don't get soaked when getting out of a car and make a mad dash to the door, so I wouldn't have gotten snowed on, but I certainly would've been pretty chilled.

I feel almost embarrassed to say it's another cracker day here. Blue sky, fluffy clouds and a cooling sea breeze. For some reason I thought it was Monday till my daughter put me straight...

Don't rush it Lorraine. Life's too short to push it ahead of where it's supposed to be.

Very sensible, Miss B, not that that surprises me :)

And you are right, life is too short to rush it. I don't even know why I lost Sunday, it's not like I have a busy life. So funny, my sister posted something about simplifying your life and I'd done everything on the list without even meaning to...if I followed the list any more I would be in a state of stasis!

Great news Terre...

Sounds good Lorraine but don't rush the days I'm on count day here only 3 days including today until I'm back at work.

And it will be stinking hot in the classroom...I don't envy you or your colleagues or the children you will be trying to teach.

That must've been some list. :)

So I've dropped the commitments, I am not busy, I have no intention of getting rid of my books or sentimental items, I keep all my emails and use the search function to find ones I want, I cook slow, walk fast (cos I've got long legs and need the exercise), and I've learnt to say no to peeps asking me to housesit. I'm doing ok I think :)

Yes it probably will be hot during first term...I would love to simplify my life at this moment in time.

Did you see the video of the panda playing in the snow...tried to link but it didn't work. If you haven't just google panda in snow...just so cute!

Interesting list Lorraine. I know I always empty my email Inboxes, and only save emails like receipts for online purchases. I also walk fast because it's a great cardio workout. I especially do it walking to and from the gym. That way I get to extend my workout to 1 1/2 hours, instead of just the hour I spend with my trainer, or the hour I spend on the treadmill, depending on which day I'm there. I also can't clear my desk, but that's probably because I spent 40 years working on a desk that was only empty after I left for the day, and when I came back in the next day. I was just too used to having it cluttered. I still do a number of things during the day at the desk, and the computer takes up a good portion of it. ;)

Monday arvo in Opua (see, I got it right today ;) ). Blue sky, fluffy clouds, sea breeze, yep, same old same old. But we have the remnants of Cyclone Victor arriving Wednesday so things could get damp and windy.

Hope all yous in the blizzard zone fared ok and don't have to find your cars or sidewalks today. Saw a photo of a sailboat somewhere in the zone...all you could see was a mast and tiller sticking up out of the snow

Thanks for the heads up re the sale at Daz, Miss B. Didn't get any hair but did get some nice textures for 3DUs Ranger and Bun hair which were recycled into Alexis and Willow's hair respectively. A good score at $3.88 for both which will be about $6.00NZ.

Stay warm my northern peeps and keep cool my southern. :inverted:
