I rarely ever drink (absolutely hate the taste of alcohol), but when I do, it's Captain Morgan's spiced rum and coke. It's the only rum I can stand. I may have a bottle of that in a cupboard ... as well as a bottle of Bailey's. Both were gifts ... more than a dozen years ago. Or I may have tossed them when I moved in 2006.

I don't drink Long island iced tea anymore after having one that was so poorly made all you could taste was alcohol. Such a letdown too because the one before had been perfect. And the first one I'd ever had.

I had a martini once. Well a sip of one. It sat there untouched for the rest of the night.

I haven't had a mixed drink since my late 20s. I got hooked on straight vodka on the rocks with a twist of lemon, drank Stoly 100 proof for years until a friend introduced me to Grey Goose, and it instantly became my favorite.

Of course, at this stage of my life, on daily meds, the strongest alcohol I'll have "on occasion" is a nice glass of white wine.

My doctor and I have an understanding, Miss B, she doesn't prescribe anything that interferes with my alcohol intake and I promise to take the pills she does prescribe and not drink too much. Sometimes I fail to keep the latter promise, especially if it involves a nice Merlot or cab sav.

Well I figure, a glass of wine 2 or 3 times a year isn't too bad. It's just funny that back in my drinking days it took quite a few drinks for me to even feel slightly woozie. Now a single glass of wine has me grinning like a fool, so I don't overdo it. :D

I hate the "room is spinning" feeling so I might only have a cocktail once or twice a month :D (I'm usually the driver anyway)

I can honestly say Rae, I've only had that feeling maybe 3 or 4 times in my life. When I was going out with friends 2 or 3 times a week for drinks, I built up a pretty good tolerance. For me slightly woozie isn't much, but I've been so out of practice for the past 20 years, I feel the alcohol a lot quicker than I did back then. ;)

It doesn't take long for the body to get not used to it. I stopped going the cruising club last year for six months and what would have taken me four glasses of wine to get to now only takes two. And I don't intend to build up to the four again, it's much cheaper this way and the dinghy ride home much safer :)

Glad to hear that the leg is on the mend Terre!

I drink wine, lemon ruskies, cocktails when I have the opportunity but I'm not a big spirit drinker. Used to drink Southern comfort with coke years ago but drank too much and put myself off it totally.

Good morning. :)
I made one attempt back in my 20s to get to the room spinning stage and got sick instead. I've never repeated that experiment.

I don't drink at all, personally. I'm basically the cheapest date on the planet. I can't even get through a bottle of hard lemonade without getting tipsy. And if I have too much, I just end up sleeping. Unless it's whiskey. If you feed me whiskey, I'm looking for a fight.

Yeah. I can't hold the firewater at all, so I don't touch it. :D LOL

Very sensible, Seliah, I've known the odd one or three who would be better off doing as you do, they would end up in much less trouble. I just get silly and laugh a lot...and forget the joke punchline ;)

LOL Yes... my Bear on the other hand, has a naturally very, very high tolerance to the stuff. When he turned 21, the first bit of alcohol he drank was Bacardi 151... and you would never have known he'd had a full flippin' water glass of the stuff, either, unless you saw him drink it. He has to take in a LOT to get even a buzz.

He, therefore, also stays away from it for the most part. Nowadays he will have a beer every so often, or maybe one hard liquor on a night or two in the month. But he doesn't drink for a buzz, he only goes for the stuff he likes the flavor of, and it's very tightly controlled.

When he DOES manage to get drunk, he turns mean. So we have a sort of standing agreement - he HAS to ask me first, and if I say no, it's NO. But it's worked for us, and he's been very good about it for many years now. :)

Great way to handle things. :)
Jim strictly limits himself as he doesn't want to become an alcoholic like his dad was and I don't drink much either due to a combination of not liking the flavor and not liking making the fact that I'm a clutz worse.

We did our rounds with it once, VERY early on in marriage. I ended up putting Bear to bed on the kitchen floor at the end of a frying pan. That was the last drop he touched for about... ten years. Nowadays we have the arrangement as described above, LOL. It did take having to knock his tail end out once to make the point, though. So we have the arrangement because it was a lesson learned. He didn't like waking up with an easter egg on his head, and I didn't like putting it there. I had an alcoholic parent growing up; there was no way in hell I was going to raise my daughter with one.

He got the point, and has been good about it ever since. ;)

I actually broke it... I was left with the handle in my hand and the rest of it was across the kitchen on the floor...

Our neighbor from downstairs heard the racket and came rushing upstairs... he took two steps towards the kitchen and I told him rather bluntly that if he so much as touched him, he would join him...

Poor man. He tucked tail, stared at me like he'd never seen me before, and ran back downstairs. LOL
