The Anchorage, Part 3

Lorraine

Hi Miss B, Hi Terre :)

Brrr, cold up the river today. I 'm rugged up in winter woollens and pretending I'm warm! Playing some more with my tough guy.

Lucky you! It's blowing its tits off from the south today, nice and sunny but not warm at all out in the wind. Fortunately I have no reason to go ashore so shall stay cosy on my boat and look at it out my winda :)

It is a good plan, ay, Terre?! It's not rocking the boat yet, Pen, but will when the tide changes. By then I'll have finished on the computer and be in my rocking chair with the boat doing all the work :) And hopefully the sun still shining in the window keeping me warm till sundown. Then I'll light the fire and keep on keeping cosy :D

I had to be out for a good portion of the afternoon and early evening today, and we had lovely weather. I only wore one of my linen blazers, and it was perfect.

Oh it's still up and down. Yesterday it was warm enough to go without a jacket.

I really wish Mother Nature would make up her mind.

Love the Floating Allotment.

Wonder how much those desalination units cost? Would be less work than carting water, but probably a bit more expensive.

Then again, a rain barrel would be ever so much cheaper.

I'm finally sitting at the computer when I've thought of this...the floating allotment :) I pulled the plug on this when carting the water became just too much but I'm definitely going to do it again.

Hi Satira, how'd you be? Glad you like my (ex)garden :) Sans Souci and I will become the Floating Allotment again.

Rain barrels are way cheaper than desalination, that costs thousands though a lot of overseas boats have them. They need a lot of power too. I'll settle for the free stuff that falls on the roof ;)

Speaking of rain... I need to cut the yard today, the recent rain has made things grow.
I think some people in Lubbock Tx. are starting to get rain barrels but they also get more rain than we do. Just enough difference in elevation and so on even though they are only 100 miles SE of us.

One thing Northland gets in abundance is rain. We get droughts too during the summer but mostly we get rain. Rain and floods.

Most places now have rainwater tanks over here. Used to be that you couldn't have them in the suburbs but now they're everywhere.

Hi Pen :)

Rainwater tanks seem such a no brainer anywhere that has the rainfall...and even those places that don't get a lot. Free water, saves more infrastructure, and it's not filled with nasty chemicals like chlorine and fluoride, tastes great too...the only time it's contraindicated is in polluted areas where the rain or roofs are poisoned.

Hey Lorraine...we're not allowed to use it for drinking but we use it on the garden. People out in the country areas can though...

Wow! So your rain is considered polluted then. That's sad. I'd filter and drink it but then I'm like that ;)
